  1. It's not a traveling cache. It's replacing an existing cache container and log with another one (albeit used). The difference is....the coordinates keep changing with a traveling cache. In this case, a log and container remain at the GZ for a cacher to sign. It's a matter of semantics I guess. Suppose I were to place a cache at the start of a powertrail that was a bottle preform that I had painted red and I called that cache 'Red Preform'. After a few runs the actual coordinates for that cache container would be miles away. Anyone using my hints would be baffled. My cache would have indeed traveled. Moving cache containers is wrong, imho. Wow...It's a good thing this isn't the case.
  2. Did the owner of the Alien Head caches also authorize this? We did not move these caches. Why not? These are a different series of caches(pretty obvious). Maybe you can come on down and DOUBLE your find count!
  3. Did the owner of the Alien Head caches also authorize this? We did not move these caches.
  4. Fair point. legoboyjj, based on what you wrote earlier in the thread, it appears that you may have been using the cache shuffling technique shown in the . Were you actually moving each cache from its location to the location for the next cache? Or moving the log from one cache to the container for the next cache? Or were you following the fundamental geocaching practice of returning each log to its original container, and returning each container to its original location? Yes the alien caches were moved down the line. We had a great time going as fast as we could go on this trail just as many others have. Would I do it the same way again? Yes. It does seem that most of the posters here don't get out much so I guess I can't judge you.
  5. So what you are saying is you drove the Alien Head? Yes like many others we drove the same tracks left by previous cachers.
  6. Most of the caches are within 30' of the car. We had a driver, two runners and a stamper(on the logs). Not sure how many miles we covered as I forgot to check the odometer the next morning. As far as DNF's all of ET caches were in place including 2 we found at one location. Before that we got about 170 of the 200 in the musical series in Cedar City. Some of those we just chose not to do though.
  7. We definitely planned to go for a personal record. After breaking the record on the TOTG run we thought we had a good shot here. I'm sure it will be broken at some point. Hour 7-9 was our drive from Cedar City Utah to Ash Springs. On Hour 13 we drove up the mine road and got the caches in Rachel and stopped for some pictures. We brought 10 gallons of gas with us but I think we could have made it without. At a minimum we could have just taken one 5 gallon can.

We could not have done this without the fifth member of our team Legoboy's 4 Runner. We had to take a short break at one point and slow down a couple of times to allow the breaks to cool off as they were not doing the job. This was a great area to visit with awesome landscapes and views. We really appreciate all the cache hiders for all the work that went into placing these caches. Can't wait for the next big power trail to come out. -legoboyjj
  9. Here is a couple of clips of our group Power Caching the "Trail of the Gods". I couldn't figure out how to get a timer to show up on the videos. -legoboyjj
  10. We had three people and one vehicle. Planning was key. Talking with others who had made the run gave us many tips. We used aerial views on my Garmin Colorado GPS which helped keep us on the right roads. Once the cache was in hand it only took a few seconds for one guy to pull the log and the other guy there to put the sticker on. Fast driving was also a big key. We rallied pretty fast out on those desert roads.
  11. Friday April 16th. Rain or Shine, zsteve and myself (legoboyjj) cached for 24 hours straight to try to break the unofficial world records that had been set the two weeks prior to our trip. We were freaking out when these caches were archived one day before we were to leave. A quick email confirmation that the caches were still in place we hit the road. We left Eugene Oregon at 4pm on Wednesday and drove all night caching all day Thursday. We got five hours of sleep on Thursday evening and were ready to go at midnight. We started on the flats to the west of the mine road. Think we only dnfed 5 caches all day but did find two cache containers at four different cache sites which were "replacement" caches. I took some video of our crazy trip to show everyone what it was like to run the "Trail of the Gods". Will post video to YouTube later. We finished the TotGs, the presidents and the Phobia series by 6:00pm which was way ahead of our expectations. After that we scrambled to find what we could which dropped our cache average significantly. We had a single hour cache record of 51 finds on the stretch heading into Primm. We rallied in my 96' Toyota Forunner with 175k miles on it and a set of new tires. Happy to say she held up and did great. We are all pretty tired but had a blast. Our numbers keeping was the one thing that failed us as if we had known we were only 5 away from 700 we wouldn't have stopped early. We are almost home and have found a total of 902 caches in the four days. Our hour counts were: Hr1-48 Hr2-47 Hr3-25 Hr4-27 Hr5-31 Hr6-31 Hr7-40 Hr8-43 Hr9-35 Hr10-16 --gas Hr11-36 Hr12-39 Hr13-42 Hr14-21 Hr15-27 Hr16-51 Hr17-30 Hr18-43 Hr19-17 Hr20-16 Hr21-14 Hr22-5 Hr23-9 Hr24-2 total: 695
  12. The event is next weekend. Can't wait. Cool coin.
  13. You will be close enough to Portland Or. that you need to go to Dr. Who and of course the original stash. y
  14. We had an awesome trip. Drove over 1800 miles in 6 days found 471 caches with three days over 100 finds. I think I posted 57 DNF's.
  15. I can see that you are from Boise, so you must have seen logs from our trip from 2006. 144 was our one day high from over there. That was our first big power caching trip and we had a great time over there. We have since upped our personal one day high to 201 in southern Oregon and then to 211 down in Chico, Yuba City area in California. When we go power caching we sign our logs as Team BLuR to save time. (BeavTeam, Legoboyjj, & Rain or Shine) This past Sunday we found 123 caches in 9 hours down in Grants Pass, Or. I have built a desk that hangs off the back of the front seat that holds my laptop running GSAK and Mapsource. I sit in the back routing us to the caches with the least amount of backtracking. We all go to all the caches and have a 3-4 minutes and out rule. Some runs our dnf's are as high as 10%.
  16. Hello, When, not if you come out with a native app will current users be grandfathered in for that as well? Can't wait for June to come around. -legoboyjj
