  1. Good thought PISA-caching! The peace dove with olive branch is the one with the biblical background. At the Friedenskirche in Weißenthurm, this olive branch was abandoned, but the connection can easily be derived from the name of the church. If the olive branch is missing then an identification as a dove of peace could perhaps take place in another way: either through the place (in this case the church). Or by a reference (information sign in the place where the dove is found or in the net) @ Benchmark Blasterz: Thanks for your answer. I had mentioned that I had found the peace doves already in other categories in the search. However as mentioned above in no own category with the occasion of its importance. In our churches I have not seen many pictures of the peace dove and the churches are not very close together. However, it could also be cleared here with a distance rule, if desired.
  2. Hello everybody, when I was once again looking for new waymarks, the Friedenskirche in Weissenthurm caught my eye. There the symbol of a peace dove (German: Friedenstaube) was placed on the outer facade. It occurred to me that this symbol, or what is connected with it, is becoming more and more important for the majority of mankind and perhaps a category of its own. Not only are there wars, violence and threats between countries in this world. Even in the street where you live, the neighbors are often in conflict with each other. Thus the desire for world peace is getting bigger and more precisely the symbol of the peace dove. In addition to the CND symbol, the rainbow, the Olympic fire or for example the Victory sign, the symbol of the peace dove belongs to the peace signs and is intended to express the desire and the demand for international understanding and peace. The dove also plays a role in the Bible. In the story of the Flood, a dove, oozing from Noah, returned with a fresh olive branch from her journey to the ark. The Flood narrative explains God's declaration of war to men and creation, since the earth is full of violence. The return of the dove with the olive branch is therefore interpreted as peace. For the designed silhouette of a dove, Pablo Picasso received the World Peace Prize in 1955. This was the occasion for the peace dove as a global symbol of peace and peace movement. In my opinion this category would be global and the possible waymarks would not be overprevalent. The symbol of the peace dove is also found as a painting page in the educational area, it is used as a motif by doing things with hands and is also a motif of tattoos. I have also found the peace dove in various categories such as "Figurative Public Sculpture", "Unique Weathervanes", "Roadsite Attractions" or "Mosaics", but there has not been a category that reflects the real meaning of this symbol. Acceptable could be monuments, sculptures, reliefs, stamps, paintings, mosaics, grafitti (Without claim of completeness). Perhaps this category would also help to make our present world a little bit better and more peaceful. These were my thoughts and information for this new category and I expect your answers and opinions. Best regards!
  3. Here is an example for an Advertising column in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive / Dayton Way
  4. I see the limitation of the number of advertising columns within a certain radius somewhat skeptical. At least he should not be too big, because this makes the whole Thing very complicated in my eyes. On the other hand, I do not see such limitations in a category like the "Coats of arms"! In Germany there are mostly signs on all town entrances, because of the town partnerships, on which the corresponding cities with their coat of arms are depicted. For example: For my hometown Andernach there are 7 different coats of arms on one of these shields, all of which are entitled to publish their own Waymark. The same applies to objects in the "German Monument Registers" section. Here is usually also in certain streets or centers one house next to the other.
  5. What in my opinion is synonymous for this category is the fact that it should be very difficult to find yet another category, where the advertising columns could be additionally accommodated (in contrast to churches, bridges, etc.). Possibly in "News Article Locations" ... when it is reported.
  6. "... and are these interesting?" That's a good question. This question I ask myself here with so many already existing category! In comparison to other categories, the advertising columns can look back on a past two centuries and were the foundations of today's advertising. Of course, like other things on the globe, they occur in varying frequency, and they do not always meet with the same interest. But the problem finally arises in all aspects of Waymarking. As mentioned in my first post to this thread, I find that the advertisign columns with their history have earned a chance.
  7. I think it's a great idea for a new category. This immediately reminds me of my childhood. Since this medium was even more intensively used for advertising and we occasionally made fun of the people who were pictured on the advertising posters. Unfortunately, they are not as frequent as they used to be. For me alone this is an aspect to the advertising columns pay tribute. In modern times, there must be space and memory for such old media. Thanks for the work!
  8. Joyful message: My Waymark was finally released after a voting. Actually, I wanted to delete the Waymark this morning from the vote, but there came the notice that you can not delete Waymarks in a voting. So never give up hope! :D
  9. Ok, now I understand. Thank you for your answers. I'll probably wait a week, if something is doing, otherwise I will then as proposed by fi67 the waymark cancel and submit again. Thanks again!
  10. Unfortunately, I can not say whether there is a voting to this Waymark, or whether nobody has seen this Waymark.
  11. Thank you for your answer. I have now contacted the two officers again and asked for review. At the same time, I applied for the recruitment of new reviewers. In this category I am not a member.
  12. Hello, I am waiting since 25 November 2016 for the release or processing of my submitted Waymark WMTH7D in the category "Pyramids"! My link Already my first Waymark entered in this category lasted much longer than usual. At the end of January 2017, I had once again written two of the three officers and shortly afterwards even Waywizard. But to this day, after more than four months, nothing has ever happened. This is very frustrating. Does anyone have any advice, except to wait and turn thumbs. Thank you.
  13. I have now read the answers of the past days. My concern was that the reviewer, who declined the Waymark, would be able to get in touch more quickly. My English is unfortunately not so good that I can understand everything straight away and the translation of Google makes synonymous with the translation unfortunately not always meaning. The same is true for the translation of a German text into your home language. So far, I was not aware that as a reviewer you must be afraid to decline a Waymark because you have to fear the revenge of the advertiser. I always thought Waymarking was a GAME! If you then decline a waymark by means of the rules set by the category, you have done everything right and need not have a guilty conscience or even fear !? And even if we have made a mistake in reviewing: We are all human beings! And people make mistakes! In any case, I thought it would be an easier communication by placing his nickname under the declined Waymark. I will continue to do so in the categories where I review. However, through the one or the other answer i found now a way, how to find the name. Then I have to choose this way.
  14. Hello Benchmark Blasterz, thanks for your very detailed response. This has already helped me very much.
  15. Hello community, I would like to address a topic, which I noticed now in my active time in Waymarking this year. Yesterday 8 Waymarks were declined because they did not comply with the regulations of the category. 6 Waymarks alone had been approved one day before. Since the given reference text did not explain to me what was wrong, I would have gladly directly contacted him. And here we come to my request: In my opinion, it should be self-evident that you write your nickname to an "approve" or "declined" waymark. Then you could regulate the questions directly among the two affected persons. So I had to write a well-known reviewer of this category and ask for help. The other possibility would have been that I would have asked at the re-submit in general, where the error lies. But then there is again the question, which reviewer I got, maybe not the one, which declined my waymark. Perhaps it would be possible that in every category the leader asks his "coworkers", that they write there nicknames at least in "declined WMs", so that the contact can be established directly. Thank you very much. greets kaschper69
