  1. Duhhh! My bad, I READ and found the scripts. Sorry! that happens when you drink way too much coffee
  2. I like it! I always thought almost no one will stay more than a minute reading the current note. This one is shorter and straight to the point.
  3. Look here and here. Ahem... I meant YOURS! I already have the scripts on those pages! hehehe
  4. any way of getting those useful scripts?
  5. ¡Aquí ShotgunPR desde Puerto Rico y saludando a los compañeros Geocachers hispanos en el resto del mundo!
  6. That was the trick. I was using my geocaching NAME, not the ID. Another way I found (maybe has been mentioned already) is to go to "My Account Details" page on GC and the ID number is shown there as Member ID.
  7. I have sort of a weird problem. So far the advanced macro has worked wonderfully. I hid my first cache a few days back, now no matter if I select/deselect the "include own" checkmark or not, the cache(s) I hidden are transferred to the Nuvi 205. They show up the same as other caches, even with the N for (Not found) flag. Is there a way that as the owner of those caches they DO NOT get transferred as POI's ?
  8. There is a convenient "Back" button to get you back to the "main" screen. Here's a screenshot of mine: Note: The coords show up garbled to protect my home's coordinates. I do not expect visitors! Just to point this out to avoid confusion. The pictures and methods posted by shotgunpr do NOT appear to be taken from a Nuvi 200. I am about 99.9% sure the nuvi 200 does not support the screens shown in those pictures. Sorry, mine's a Nuvi 205. Bought mine Feb 29th, so it must be the "newer" generation of the model. It came with the 2009.1 North America NT updated maps.
  9. I'm working on a fix for "Found". Change the Waymarking name format in advanced options to: %Name-%Found j Thanks for your HARD work, we all really appreciate it! Found about the naming for waymarks after playing a while with the advanced settings. Sorry, I really do not know much about the GSAK "tags" since I am really a noob with this software yet I am slowly getting the "hang" of it. Again, THANK YOU for this excellent macro!
  10. Problems with waymarks AGAIN! Sorry to be a rain in your parade, but I do waymarks as much as I do geocaching. Can you point me where in the script I can edit so that waymarks already marked as "found" in gsak be treated the same as geocaches marked "found" (they can be transferred or not to the GPSr). I have some found waymarks in my db, but the script transfers them to the GPSr, even if I do not select "Include found caches". Also, can the Y/N "flag" for Found/Not Found be included in the title name for a waymark?

  12. Does the macro work with GPX files imported into GSAK from the Waymarks site? I have a database called "Waymarks" (How proper!) in GSAK (created importing GPX files from the waymarks site), but when I export GPX files with the macro (creating the appropiate subfolder into POI_Loader) the Waymarks category shows up on my nuvi 205, but the waypoints are NOT shown as having any coordinates. Descriptions are shown but coordinate details are not shown either.
  13. I bought a Nuvi 205 recently just for starting out at Geocaching. I discovered pilotsnipe's macro in this forum, and from that post he mentions that the Nuvi's have (sort of) a compass screen. When you are at the "Main" menu that shows the signal bars at the top left just touch the bars for about 3 seconds and it will change screens to a screen very similar to the "compass" screens offered on other units. There is a small red round circle that changes depending on your direction of travel, never actually followed it to the letter but gives a pretty good idea of the general location a cache might be. pilotsnipes mentioned that Garmin removed this functionality from 2xx units, but I bought mine last february 28 (saturday) and mine HAS this function so I recommend anyone having a 2xx Nuvi to check on touching the signal bars a few seconds and see if their units have this screen or not. It's better than the "where i am" function. At least has helped me to find 4 caches already this week alone.
  14. Thank you for an excellent macro for gsak! I am using the pilotsnipes macro and just found about yours. I browsed the first 8-10 pages of this topic (have not read everything) for about 2 hours and noticed this on the download page: "6.2 The following characters are now acceptable in GSAK database names:ÁÉÍÓÚáéíóú" That's Ok for people like me who live in places that use those characters (like here in PR), however there is a quartet of characters missing there that we also need: ÑñÜü Could you include those (if not already included in the latest ver.)? - remember, I have not finished reading ALL the post replies (It's fairly long... phew!)
  15. I sincerely have to THANK YOU for making this possible! I just got my Nuvi 205 last week, and after looking for about 10 caches with a bunch of printouts (for hints, logs, tips, etc.) I was starting to dread the decision to buy this unit. Now with this, is as easy as I wished it to be! Thank you! Quick question: Does it work with waymarks from the Waymark site? I included the Show Online button using your instructions as an example, and I can get the GPX from the waymarks site to gsak the same as with Geocaches from the gc site as I add individual caches using the download GPX option from the page. Thank you AGAIN for an excellent method for doing 100% paperless geocaching with Nuvi's.
  16. Let see if Mr. Obama finally resolves the PR is a state/country/whatever issue at last! At least, I'm one voting for state. But there are many things we have accomplished as a "country" (Olympic medals, Miss Universe pageants, so on) I guess many people even having statehood will still behave as being a "country"... Maybe like Texans do. haha
  17. Yep, that's the one. Been there already 3 times this week. Last time was last thursday, but it seems the area was cleaned up (a LOT less trash) and I noticed some trees cut and some concrete "stones" moved somewhat from the last time I checked there. Can someone verify that cache is still there? It has been very deceiving for me. The one City Hall you hid is also been a challenge.
  18. Found on the waymarks site some featured BMs from PR. Now to schedule a weekend to get there with some geocaching friends!
  19. Excellent explanation! Thanks for clearing that out! I already knew the NGS database gives WAY more info than the GC site. But thanks for mentioning that, not many people realize that GC just has a summary of all the info from the NGS database. Also, I understand that benchmarks are not maintained as frequently as caches are (or should be). From my perspective, benchmark finding is just as trying to find an old building (or even "ruins") in which nobody guarantees you will find something. But if you do, I can't argue the joy anyone could have for doing so!
  20. I am just starting out (fresh & new to geocashing as a baby), I still can't figure out how the Waymarking site works or how do you get credit (or log your finds as the GC site). As a complete newbie, I do not see the Waymarking site as intuitive as GC currently is (from my viewpoint). It could be that I have not dedicated enough time to browse the site to discover the options available. So, I might be completely wrong on my remark (as a human being, I can err every once in a while ... )
  21. RussellM - You may be surprised of all the things we manufacture down here! There are thousands of products made here that benefit everyone, in a way or another. I am not here to get into discussions about what we do (or not) produce. My point is the unfairness in which we don't have equal access and opportunity of enjoying products (even when they're made locally or within US "jurisdiction") as everyone else. Keystone & CoyoteRed - did not even looked at the dates... doh! But as once my grandpa told me: "a question that remains unanswered is still begging for an answer". Isn't that the case with the meaning of life?
  22. I hope it ain't the saame one I tried first! My first try at geocaching and I spent almost 3 hours looking for the cache. My first DNF but that has not affected my "passion" for geocaching. I'm gonna try that one again, but I have to mention that some caches do have either very poor clues / too complex for newbies at the sport.
  23. I HATE IT! I live in PR and do not understand why the rudeness with us! BTW, PR @ a time manufactured almost 60% of all HP inkjet catridges and over 40% of the worldwide Viagra production (to mention two things, there are a LOT more). We build it, gets shipped to CONUS (Continental US) then we HAVE to buy from CONUS (of course, after paying all the freight & shipping charges); IF the company ships to us. It's an abuse that has been going on for decades. We have all the major shippers (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.), we have US Postal addresses and zip code zones, US Federal Laws DO apply here as well, so WHY IN THE WORLD many many shops & companies in US treat us as a third-world country? I have bought LOTS of things from Internet stores (with mixed results) just because "some" do not even include PR in the "States" or "US Territory" drop-down lists. There are even others (more rude) that do not even feature Puerto Rico in either the State or Country List, so there's no way to shop from them since... WE DON'T EXIST!
  24. I believe that there are 500+ active geocachers in Puerto Rico. Is this "enough" to get us a front page? It seems shootingstar7 post was ignored/never replied... hmmm strange.
