  1. Who cares?? Besides, I can do BOTH in one day! hehehe
  2. Mean people suck! I was embarrassed for the whole geocaching community at what all we found today. It's a disgrace at what people will put in a cache as a trade. It's like taking a diamond ring and leaving a used toothpick! Did I mention that mean people suck?
  3. That's pretty funny! But you know, you couldn't tell that I didn't get the co-ordinates to at least one of the caches I hit today from that geotrashing.com page....LOL Check this out.....was I too harsh? Springfield Lake Cache I'm kinda worried because I don't want to upset the cache hider, yet what I saw today would have fit right in to your fake web page. My log: April 11 by PandyBat (9 found) In defense of the cache hider, this is a great hiding spot! Nice trails, beautiful stuff going on around it, easy find. Couldn't have asked for a nicer hike in a nicer area. But as far as the actual cache is concerned, the beautiful hike was the only saving grace for this cache container. This cache has been out there for a loooong time and it sure looks it. I am embarrassed to associate myself with the fellow geocachers before me after seeing what's been left in the contents of this cache. There was nothing but trash that no one would want. Business cards, crumpled up bookmarks, a used ticket stub to a Branson show, pennies, trash, rocks off the ground next to the cache, etc. None of the original contents are still in there except the log book which was in great shape. There are a few items left from previous, more recent cachers: wooden "E", batteries, phone cord and small first aid kit. The camera was gone, which I assume the cache hider left for people to take pics of themselves and replace back in the cache. He might have already went back for it to get it developed. Other than that, there is nothing left in this cache but whatever people happened to have in the floorboard before they left the car. Not even any of the three kids that we took with us wanted anything that was in it. Now that's BAD! You've heard the saying, One man's trash is another man's treasure. Well, when I say trash, I mean TRASH! Trash, useless stuff no one would want to keep as a memento or to use as a trade item in another cache. We took nothing but left a few items to try and rescue what's left of this cache. Hopefully the cache hider can get out there and freshen this cache more. I'm not into geocaching for the trinkets but it is a nice bonus, especially for the kids. It's not the cache hiders fault, he started this cache out real nice. But to see what others leave as trades is an embarrassment to the whole geocaching community. **Trade Up, Trade Equal or Don't Trade**
  4. Geesh! What is the deal with this website and people making such a big deal about spelling errors and grammar!? It's 'what' a person says that's important, not 'how' they say it. I haven't come across a fellow cacher yet, khalua. But when I do, I plan on introducing myself and letting them make the decision on letting me join them or if they want to go it alone and let me know when they are done. I would be excited to meet another geocacher at this point. There aren't many in my area and I would love to "talk shop" with another geocacher for a bit.
  5. Wow....how lucky did that guy get that they showed up?! Great work and loud applause to Dr Webe and DMVC for helping him out!
  6. You're a genius! Thanks Sparky!
  7. Oh, you're kidding!? Has that really been done?? LMBO!
  8. Any ideas why? I've been putting in my password before making changes like it asks. But the new forum title won't take. It's there when I check my profile, but when I make a post, my old title is still showing up. Is there a lag in updating at this site or something I am not aware of that happens when you make changes?
  9. I agree somewhat. I don't really see the point of micros. They are too easy to set out. Pick a bigger cache container and give yourself a challenge at hiding it, for pete's sakes! Maybe micros should be no smaller than a film canister?
  10. Can you find me the "official" motocross site? How about the "official" coin collecting site, or the "official" mountain climbing site? Geocaching is just a hobby (or sport, or activity). Geocaching.com, while doing a great job of supporting and promoting the hobby, is just a support site. There is no "official" geocaching website. Um...yeah....that's what I said. "I" consider it the "official" geocaching site.
  11. Ok....now you really have me confused, Shirley. You want to eliminate the FTF competition, yet you leave FTF prizes like this?!!? If you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
  12. Oh my!! LOL Yes, I guess it could be taken that way. I'm not allergic to poison ivy or oak so I guess it never crossed my mind! LOL
  13. There are red plus signs next to some peoples names at the bottom of the forums. What do those mean? Are those people moderators or something?
  14. A gold dubloon!??! Yeah, I'll remember that the next time I have a few laying around that I need to get rid of....lol j/k ya! I thought the FTF didn't have to leave a trade? I musta missed something. I plan on leaving a nice prize for my FTF cacher but I don't expect them to leave something in return. It would be a nice thing to do but not a requirement. Or should special prizes be left for the FTF's at all??? Seems like that would cause alot of people to go out only for the FTF's and the special prizes. Now I'm really confused as to whether I should leave anything more than maybe a certificate or something similar instead of a nice prize. Oooohhh, we really didn't mean to confuse you... We said that the First 'Finder' LEAVE the prize....not the owner. It was in answer to Making Geocaching better...as in different? This would eliminate the FTF competition. ~Shirley~ Hmmmm.....that's really something to think about now. I will probably never be a first finder at the current rate that I see others getting up in the middle of the night to be a FTF. Not that it matters to me that much anyway. But eliminating the competition might eliminate those out for only the really good prizes and give someone else a chance at being a FTF. Good point, Shirley!
  15. Amen... I am a poor lame guy who doesn't want to dish up the $30, however I am saving my pennies. These folks have done one hell of a job for free. I will be joining soon, and only because I WANT to support GC.com No worries, crzycrzy. I'm by no means rich either but I took a little pinch of the income tax refund in order to further my newfound hobby a little more. Subscribing took the last bit of it I had left. Just for the free cache listings I have scalped off the site already makes the $30 I spent on subscribing worth every penny.

  17. It's official! I am now a premium member. I don't feel any different though....
  18. You can't ban McToys. Then there would be nothing for the kiddies. To a child, a McToy is as great a find as a TB, FTF or a GeoCoin is to the adults.
  19. I'm jealous! I've just started and would love a day to do five. Seems either the weather gives out or no one can go with me. I have so far ended up doing one here, two there and one the next weekend and so on. It's a bummer for me. I'd do it all day, every day if the conditions were right. Congrats on your first 5! Pretty fun, huh?
  20. Everybody wants their piece of the pie, I guess. Geocaching isn't any different than those products Team GPSaxophone listed above. Everyone thinks they can do it better than the first guy.
  21. Geocaching.com is the only site I need. There's enough of them listed here to keep me busy for a couple years or so...lol Besides, I consider it the "official" geocaching site. Why go anywhere else?
  22. Wow! That's way too cool! WTG coast2coast2coast!
  23. If people want some more extreme caches, go hide some yourself. It might inspire others to do the same. I see alot of seasoned geocachers running out to do the 1/1 caches anyway just to be the FTF. Save the 1/1 caches and the FTF's for the handicapped people that like and can do them since they seem to bore you so much. As far as "thinning out the herd" .......You do not own this sport, it's free for anyone to do and if it wasn't for the "hand-wringers, brownnosers, lame-o micro-hiders, pantywastes, and geomommys", you might not have as many caches to look for as you do now. Besides hiding a cache can be just as fun as finding one.
