  1. Wearing blue or red around here in the woods in spring turkey season will get you shot too. Hunters see a spot of moving red or blue and think it's the head of a turkey and take a shot in that direction....not good. I personally want the animals (bears, cougars and the like) to know I am coming and also other people hiding in the woods with their meth labs and marijuana stashes. No sense is getting eaten by a startled bear or shot by a startled meth lab operator because I wanted to be stealthy in the woods. (Not that we have bears here but we do have plenty of meth labs and pot stashes. I think I would rather meet up with a bear than a meth lab operator.) Make some noise, let them know you are coming.
  2. Cool games! I'm going to run these by my geocaching buds and see what they think. Great suggestions.....keep 'em coming!
  3. Nope....the comment about caps lock was mean-spirited too. I'm just amazed at how warm and comfortable everyone tries to make newbies feel. NOT! I don't know about you but a rolling eyes smiley doesn't make the sting of a jab feel any better.
  4. He's cute! Those would make great trade items too if they weren't priced too high. I'd have to buy several.
  5. .......and if you enjoyed the search for caps lock you could continue and search for a dictionary Please........are these types of responses really necessary??? You don't know if that post is from someone from another country that doesn't know our language that well or if it's from a young kid. It's so pitiful to see people that think they are such experts at grammar and spelling that they put down other people over it. Besides, you wasted my time coming back to this thread just to read your insult towards someone else without actually contributing to the topic of the thread. Thanks.
  6. All the reason to make one yourself, huh? You can also find the reflector tacks under the name Bright-Eyes or Brite Eyes......sorry, can't remember which way they exactly spell it. We use them for marking our way to our tree stands during hunting season. Good advice above about making a night cache in hunting areas.....please don't remove reflector tacks that you might find while planning your cache. That's all we need is a huge hunter uprising about geocaching. Those people carry guns, remember? LOL
  7. Interesting, I've never heard computer pronounced as catch. Then again, I pronounce catch as ketch. I guess pronunciation is not my forte. LOL....I meant the computer term cache, not the computer itself.
  8. Did you get approval from the airport to place it in the building? I would think it wouldn't get past airport security because of the terrorist rule, let alone our approvers.
  9. Just wondering if Cache In, Trash Out is as much a part of geocaching to others as the actual geocaching game? The topic doesn't seem to be talked about much in cache logs or in other forums here. I try to do it at every cache. Granted there are some in need of cleaning up more than others but if every geocacher CITO'd at every cache, alot of places could be cleaned up real quick. I feel guilty leaving trash at a cache site anymore. I never really thought about it until I started geocaching. CITO is part of the game for me. It's a way of making a good impression on others about the game. Do you CITO as much as you should or could?
  10. I think the word is confusing unless you are reading it in text form. When you hear it on the news it sounds like "Today American soldiers uncovered more Iraqi Weapons CASH." If you were reading that, you would know exactly what was found but when an anchorperson says it, it sounds like they found actual money and that would confuse alot of people that really didn't know what type of cache the anchorperson was talking about. When we first got our computer, we pronounced it catch for the longest time...lol
  11. I'm sort of weirded out about people going to caches and not logging in one way or the other. I recently met a geocacher on the trail and we both ended up at the cache at the same time. Weird thing is, he has never logged that he found it. That's ok, I guess but it makes me wonder if anything would have been left in the cache had I not been there with him. I don't understand people that geocache without logging them in or anything. I think logging a cache is part of the fun of the whole game. Maybe this cache was listed at Navicache too. Do they log caches like we do here at GC.com? I have never investigated the Navicache site that much to find out.
  12. You're quite welcome! I have several links to all things geocaching on my profile page for quick reference.
  13. PandyBat

    Awesome!

Your son looks just like I did when we found our first cache. It was also awesome! Congrats on finding your first and good luck on finding more!
  14. One of my groups is planning an event and we need to set up some games or unusual caches for the picnic. Any ideas or suggestions of event caches you've done or heard of that you really liked? I'd like to help out with this part but I'm fairly new to all this. I have only been to one event to date. (Mods...not sure where I should have posted this. Please move if necessary.)
  15. Well, believe it or not, I just bought two sassafrass sticks off of ebay. I went to Target and checked out their trekking poles and they only had about 6 left. Every one of them had something wrong with them.....couple were bent and the rest either wouldn't lock into place or were stuck into the locked position. I kinda figured if that were some of the problems with them in the store, they would probably fail me in those same respects somewhere down the road. So I decided then to go with wooden sticks. Bought a couple personalized ones on ebay for about what I would have paid for one aluminum trekking pole in the store. Works for me. Thanks for all the suggestions!
  16. Too bad there aren't any images on the internet. RK.........example #453.....LOL
  17. It would be like a geocaching motel. People could stay in it as they were passing through town. Hmmmmm......I have the land and I have the trailer.......
  18. Cool! Good job, Team 360! Too bad more of us couldn't have been there with you to help and celebrate. It looks great!
  19. I'm more worried about my vehicle refusing to go.
  20. Here's one in Southwest Missouri. It was awesome! Scary, but awesome! Geoid B
  21. Are the yellow Jeep TBs going to be distributed in every state? Send some the Missouri way, please!
  22. Be prepared for the "if you don't like them, don't search for them" speeches that seem to be so prolific around here. I personally am not going to hunt for micros in wooded areas anymore. I have the same problems. Hiding camouflaged micros in the forest are not my idea of fun either. I always thought the whole point was for someone to find your cache, not have everyone log it as a DNF. Some people are just evil about hiding caches. To each his own, I guess.
