  1. My Magellan 310 and Meridian Marine both work in the cab of my truck as well as the cabin of a boat. 'go figure'
  2. I've got a friend in the market as well and told him he could borrow my Magellan M. Marine but should try a Garmin as well. Magellan was the first I had and I'm just used to them.I beat the hell out of them too and have had no probs.. You should try both systems out before spending the dough$.
  3. My 310 manual has it on page 26.
  4. Just fooled around with my old 310 and you can do both. 1.menu 2.setup-enter 3.coord sys lat lon-enter 4.lat lon(blinking)-enter 5.DEGMINSEC or DEGMIN (use up or down arrow)-enter(DEGMIN) 6.hit NAV button and you be done! Should be on DMS for reading charts and DM otherwise.
  5. Just chiming in to say hello. Freind told me about Geocaching last night and I signed up after work today. I've had a Magellan 310 for about 4 years or so and purchased a Magellan Meridian Marine last summer. They are used for mainly marine applications but,as I've read on a few other posts, one or the other is almost always on and not necessarily for any reason. While the BlueNav charts for the Meridian are accurate and detailed I miss the simplicity of the 310 but the transition is coming along.Delivered a boat from Rio Dulce,Guatemala to Isla Mujeres,Mex. and on to Tampa,Fl. using the 310 more than the old onboard.I guess if I kicked the LoranC habit for GPS I can switch units. I am pumped about finding(and someday placing)my first cache. Not only does it sound fun but I think I will adapt to my GPS better. I'll have alot of questions in the future but thought I'd read through the board and site for a while first. 'Man,This is gonna be FUN!!'
