  1. Yeah, but car's insured!! Hmmm..gettting an idea here...I could offer "cache insurance" for a one-time premium of $25. Something wrong with your cache? No problem!! Of course there would be the fine print. Not liable for loss due to theft or acts of god. Maximum payout = $10.
  2. Thanks for everone's help. I'll be able to get what I need now. I will contact you if I have questions. Thanks again..... closing this thread.
  3. Great-looking site, but I have a question: On something like this do the GC approvers know the "real" coordinates? I mean a 10km circle is pretty big. If someone was trying to place another cache too close (by accident, of course) to the actual coordinates would the approvers be able to alert them the spot is "reserved". I am in Indiana and might look for this sometime!!
  4. I have a 1998 Street Pilot - it took Metroguide data cartridges that look like Sony Memory Sticks. You bought separate ones for different cities. Does anybody know where I can buy some of the old cartridges with various cities on them? A search on Ebay and Google hasn't helped. Do you know of anybody with old close-out, discontinued cartridges?
  5. I don't know, but you might want to edit the TB # out of the post. Spoilsports will use it and "grab" the bug and send it everywhere when they find those numbers.
  6. I have the ScotteVest talked about in: This Vest Thread
  7. I alert cachers to a nearby benchmark at my cache: Here
  8. Excellent precautions. Don't forget your shoes. They are exposed to a lot of oil and you usually handle them a lot.
  9. And what does the little +/-sign mean next to some people in the "room". Not everybody has one.
  10. When I clicked on this thread I was surprised to see it started with a quote from me (I am the one who did that AS statistic note). Apparently it had "started" something I didn't know about. When I was looking at AS numbers, it wasn't meant in a negative way at all. I actually look at AS sometimes and think I've posted once or twice there. To me, AS is like the Empire State Building - it's so big, and it's impressive. Like the Empire State Building I am curious to know who build it, how long it took, how much metal and concrete, etc. Didn't mean to rile any feathers, sorry. As for the rest of the quote, I am happy to say I actually found 4 (not 3) caches for the day and a dnf, grrrr). Also my first benchmark.
  11. I have had my 60cs for 1 week now. Downloaded 250 waypoints from GSAK. Not using any map software yet (exported form GSAK to Mapsource to 60CS). Today while I was caching, I knew I was within 1 mile of a cache and pressed find waypoint and it wasn't in the scroll list. It had a name "42" which I wonder if that's the problem. I then noticed that there were only 50 waypoints I could scroll through. Is 50 the limit, even though it will hold 500. Is that the closest 50 to you? I checked later and could see the "42" on the map screen with all of there 250.
  12. Speaking of AS and numbers, I just checked. AS had 33,686 posts. The top 15 posters had 26,122 of them or 77.5%. The next 15 had 5,242 or 15.5%. Together 30 people have 93% of a 33,686 post thread!! On that note (before my brain explodes...) I need to get up from the PC and go find the 3 caches I had planned to find today....
  13. As I write this, I notice that the thread for "saying something nice" has 385 views and the thread for "you are being nasty" has 7,552 views. I must remember that when posting.
  14. I braced myself for the inevitable and set this cache out: This cache
  15. You have to scroll right really far. Looks like a fox to me.

    Waas

Should I be seeing the WAAS satellites in Indianapolis? If so, which one? I don't think I've caught either yet on my 60cs, although maybe I've just not been paying attention. Has anybody else received them?
  17. Thanks, it worked. Check out AS thread.
  18. Then how do I add a picture to a forum post? A picture that's only on my PC and not a cache page? It doesn't have a "URL" so I can't link it. Is there another way to upload a picture just to a forum post? Thanks for any information.
  19. My platinum is only 2 month's old. Took the batteries out for their weekly charging last night and when I put them back in this morning - nothing, no power. Grrrr, mad!! Lots of caching to do today and no back-up (I will correct that this week). Did a search of the this forum for platinum problems and found this thread. Took the back off of the GPSr and used a small screwdriver to extend one of the contacts for a "positive" connection that looked a little more cramped down than its twin. Presto!!! Working again. Thanks everybody.
  20. I would check it out. How many caches are there on the Monon now anyway?
  21. I'm so new at this, there is something I don't understand - if you delete someone's log, do their stats change? In otherwords, if they had 100 finds would they now have 99? If this is the case I can see why it's a touchy subject.
  22. checking how quotes and color work
  23. I noticed on the main page yesterday (the place at the bottom where they show the latest 20 logs) find after find by cacher EMC of Northridge, CA. Checked one out and saw she found 280 over the weekend. Who has done more, and ...how?
  24. I have had a cache stolen (Think Like a Vegan GCJEYM). It was rather complicated to create with a locked box, photo's, hidden keys, etc. I have disabled it. If I want to set it up again in the same place but as a more "normal" cache, what all do I need to do? I suspect I will have to edit the description to make the new version acccurate and resubmit it for approval? I have 30 days for this or it will be archived , right?
