  1. me to .. but .. if you go to your profile, and the column on the right(technical, i know, but i dont know what the page is actually called , there's a search for caches section, and you can click on the link to find all the caches around, or click the words next to that says to exclude any caches you own or found.
  2. Its the starting point for road tests for new drivers, we've got them here too
  3. I have a 60csx. I only have the little wrist strap lanyard that comes with it, but, theres a beaner attached to that. The beaner is attached to the pack if im not carrying it in my hands. It has a little swing to it, but it doesn't lose its signal, and i can hike with it there, and still check it easily.
  4. I dare say that not only has my husband become a widower, but my child is now comes from a single parent household And the scout troop? They won't even consider letting me BRING the GPSr with me to any functions we have/go to. I think they're scared I'll make them go out again. It's not like I made them do a dozen caches on their first afternoon out. It was only 7.
  5. Im a girl scout leader in the Rochester area .. i know that our council has sponsored a few events for our area. Our service unit just became the owners of 2 different GPSr units for use by the troops in our area to try it out as well. We've even got a troop that placed a cache as part of a badge
  6. my first out of state find was just outside of Gettysburg. The cache was right down the road from a girl scout camp, so I took a couple of girls from the troop out. They dropped off a travel bug, and came back with 2 kittens.
  7. I tend to leave the mini containers of playdough .. they're always in my pack, between my ADHD and the child who always needs something to play with .. I usually only take if there's something neat that the child would love, but almost always leave something.
  8. embarrassingly enough, I circled around one, checking all the branches in the tree while looking for a good 20 minutes before I realized that there was a lone pine cone in the tree. Yeah, I know. I'm slow
  9. I took a couple of the girls from my scout troop out for a fast cache on our last day in Gettysburg this memorial day weekend, and they came home with 2 three week old kittens that followed them back to the car
  10. Check with your council's outdoor program manager, a lot of the scout councils have EQ that they lend or rent to their troops. They may also run geocaching events at some of your council properties! (I know that our council has a half dozen units, and have run a couple of all age-level events at our different camps.) You can also see if you can't hook up with the boy scout troop of one of your girls older brothers, or even contact your local BS council for troops that might be able to help .. a lot of them also have units and participate, and may very well have leaders and/or older scouts that are always looking for easy ways to get leadership hours
  11. Believe it or not on at least 6 other occasions I've found old golf balls in a cache. Crazy, who in their right mind would think that this was a good trade for geoswag. ok .. semi-guilty .. its the 4yold that likes to leave those .. we also leave a container of playdough to even it out
