  1. Yes - this is what I saw- the first image is what is seen in Stats bar but at the point that you took those screenshots I actually had 1983 FPs (PGC was behind in the count as 3 had been added after the days count up on PGC, but just so happened to show the same as the stats bar figure) I confirmed the 1983 when I checked against the list you see in quick view / geocaches (yours) as stated in the OP - Both these lists Stats bar and quickview / geocaches yours (discount PGC) should say the same thing but the Stats Bar list was 3 less Numbers have changed and it seems the three caches in question have caught up - but one short now from another cache and to show what I mean by discrepancies I have just taken a screenshot of the two lists showing a difference same cache, same time - shows different FP count I think it probably means that the stats bar list much like PGC does have a delay and doesn't show immediate figures which it would seem the list in quick view / geocaches (yours) does I just wasn't excpecting these sorts of numbers to be different in these two lists since both are on the same website
  2. I noted today that the favourite count on my owned caches as shown in the stats bar was lower than the actual figure (by 3) I checked against the list you see in quick view / geocaches (yours) which to be honest I expected to be the same but the numbers there were what they should be I had eventually identified the three caches where the numbers differed and I wasnt expecting the two lists on the same website to actually be different Up until now I was aware that any fav points given were processed immediately in the various stats lists on GC but on this occasion (noted yesterday evening) I was aware quite quickly that the numbers in the Stats bar hadn't gone up - though oddly some that had been given today did get accounted for which makes me think the missing 3 may remain missing and this may affect the wheel of challenge stats
  3. and they did with earlier souvenirs - the fact they excluded them from this particular set of souvenirs does not mean they broke any promises. Caching isnt just about ALs :-)
  4. I have tried both these - though hide seems more suitable it wasn't foolproof - though I did note that if you 'blocked' someone you dont have the facility to hide them ?? Also the issue whether you use 'hide' or 'block' it would appear that it has to take both sides to function these in order for the facility to work (and it didn't work every time) which would mean I would have to ask the other cacher to click on block and click on hide etc etc - but they are unlikely to do that if don't want to stop conversing All seems counter productive
  5. To highlight this issue - and not looking for advice here as to how to deal with this scenario that is not in question here I have become aware very recently of another cacher who has been receiving rude and abusive messages (on the GC messaging system) from a handful of different accounts - These accounts are new and would appear to be youngsters. Among the much advice given as to how to deal with these one of them was to block them using the block a player facility subject of this OP However as has been highlighted here - blocking them will do nothing to stop the messages as the abusive senders are unaware that they have been blocked and are not prevented from continuing to send messages even when they have been blocked - Yes, it is down to the cacher to not reply - but he will still get the messages popping up on his screen (and notifications in his email) - so highlights that blocking is just not fit for purpose
  6. error message will do No - messages can still be sent and they therefore have no idea that they have been blocked - as I said seems totally pointless to have a blocking system if it doesn't actually prevent communication from still happening It was mentioned earlier that their name disappears off the message list on the left and so they are 'no longer visible' thus blocked - again that is fine up until the moment they send you a message as it all comes back into view again - all you get is a message saying you have blocked them, if you reply they are unblocked They are still none the wiser
  7. H'm - seems pointless I would suggest those sorts of situations are few and far between - but if the situation has got to the point where that would happen then I would have taken alternative action prior to that anyway
  8. Or simply informing the person blocked when they click on send a message - with a pop-up saying 'this cacher has blocked you, they may therefore not see this message and so not reply'
  9. Yea - but that wasn't my point The fact that I have blocked a player should mean that at their end they can't message me or if they do they get a message their end to say so - a blocked player doesn't know they have been blocked - they send a message and it doesn't get responded to - because I can't see it or I choose not to reply as I have blocked them - either way they just simply think I am ignoring it. I don't want that as an outcome - I want them to know they have been blocked and so won't get a response for that reason. It does make me think with all the messages I send out - all those that don't reply .... is it because I have been blocked ? - I don't think so but the outcome is the same I don't get a response Me saying to someone - OK I'm blocking you - a year down the line they may have forgotten that and message me and wont know any different because the message is sent with no reminder that they have been blocked Hiding their messaging list is simply that - it isn't blocking them
  10. I am not sure that is true - I blocked another cacher - yes the name may disappear from the LHS i.e. the message list - however as soon as he messaged me (which was over a year later ) it all appeared in front of me again !!! I didn't have to peek as the message was there on the system - I went to reply having forgotten I had blocked him and the 'You've blocked this player' message appears
  11. Please can someone from HQ take a look at this
  12. Defeats the whole object of blocking someone !!!
  13. Yes - we tried with an old account to see what happens either end - blocking took place and messages sent and received - all seen as if nothing had happened Makes the blocking process completely pointless
  14. I have on occasion had to block other cachers on the messaging system - i was under the impression that this meant they could no longer contact me (nor me them) However I received a message from a cacher who i had blocked - with the message "this cacher is blocked if you wish to reply this will unblock them" (or similar) How is it that despite being blocked they could message me - or did they get a message their end (when the clicked on send) saying you have been blocked the recipient may chose to ignore this Either way what is the point of blocking someone if they can still send messages or is this another glitch
  15. That is odd as I found that feature worked fine for me - when I had it turned off I was getting an email sent every time a message was received - so during a back and forth, email after email just saying you have a message - I discovered that feature and since then the only emails were from 'new' messages and none during convos (until the reent issue - but that is sorted now too.
  16. All well and good unless you have done an earthcache or cache where answers are required - I have just received a log for one of my earthcaches - the 'Found' log was blank other than the auto generated "Submitted via Garmin Live Geocaching" however I have recieved no answers and the required picture is not with the log - it may well be that the cachers may write up all their logs when they get home - but if they are on holiday that could be a week or two - and as with all ECs and virtuals etc you are required to submit answers first and then log. So the draft idea as originally suggested or even the option to do a write note for these types of caches would be better
  17. How odd - no replies to this post - so no idea if I am the only one with this issue but in particular from a lackey acknowledging the issue or advising that it isnt a general glitch However today I got an email advising that I had a message !!!! Seems like it was only me - and its all working again
  18. I am no longer getting an email notification when I have been sent a message. I have my preferences set to 30 mins after messaging inactivity ( as I used to get bombarded with emails every time I have an ongoing conversation in messaging) but seems now I'm not getting any notifications at all Anyone else having this issue Is this a known glitch. Do I have to amend preferences?
  19. Yea, that is there with the 'view logs' link on the favourites lists page - it takes you to the 'Your Logs' / 'Found It' selection that you see on the home page - but it still does mean scrolling through all the Found logs which is potentially 10 times bigger than your favourites awarded list Though - it only takes you to the 'found it' logs not 'webcam taken' logs - so still 2 different searches there The All finds you mention is the same thing I believe
  20. Hoepfully someone will spot this and respond They have filters and sort functions on all the other lists so I can't see why it would be any different to add it to this list (note: I am not a computer geek so wouldn't know how - but it would be interesting to know why they couldn't)
  21. Yea, I was aware of the facility to make a copy - but you would have to do that every time you wanted to look at the list and sort it, hence the request for filters However if what you are saying that the list changes the current headings and that instead of 'found' (which means found by you) now becomes 'last found' (which means exactly that, last occasion found by all cachers) then as you say that is fruitless for the purpose I am seeking - however does make you wonder why offer a 'copy' of the list if the headings are going to be different !!
  22. The favourite list under the tab 'Lists' is a nice feature - however the order that it shows the caches are not helpful if you want to search through it It is currently set at (I believe) name order - there are column headings such as 'found' - it would be really useful if that (and all the other headings) could have a filter function on them I added favourites to a few on a trail today but may have missed one or two off - so rather than click of each cache page to see if I did add a favourite I am aware of the 'view logs' feature but having a filter would also be useful Thanks
  23. Which was the correct action - else that cache was in danger of being archived
  24. The webcams in Germany do it all the time - Some Germans came over to the UK and took a screenshot of a frozen webcam image (had been like it for 2 days) and then tried to claim they were in the image - despite the fact their log date and time were completely different to that on the webcam image - unfortunately the webcam owner has passed away and so their log will not get deleted - the webcam is up and running and the owners (company) are more than happy for people to say when it is faulty and they will get on to it so the webcam cache still has a lot of running left in it Main problem with webcam caches and selfies - is that if webcam cache owners get reported to HQ for not deleting selfies then there is a good chance that the webcam will get archived and so people are not reporting and as a result the selfies remain - and cachers are taking advantage of that
  25. Interesting - New location ? 4+ km away from the original location so a completely new location with a different webcam. What'll happen when that webcam fails - find another location So now a travelling cache ? H'm
