  1. Hi, everyone. I was a premium member over a year ago, and then I let my membership lapse, and I have not been geocaching for some time. We then decided to have another go. Obviousley we are no longer premium members, but on logging in it appears the mapping system has now disapeared? has it been removed from the site? how can you locate a cache if yoou do not have a mapping system?? we are going on holiday in the summer to italy and I was hoping to find some caches around the area I am staying. please explain to me how it can now be done?? I am more than willing to subscribe to the premium service if I can find out what I will get for my money. Please help Thanks.
  2. Hi, I've just read that you are changing the servers, I have just been trying to upload a new cache and to edit some travel bugs, but the submit buttons do nothing, and I cant seem to get any further. Is this a server problem? should i wait and try later? I have a tired typing finger!! geffersnco
  3. we are just setting up a cache in the uk. My youngest child has just started school and his class are going to have a tb so that they can follow its progress during there time in the school. I am hoping that when people log the tb that they will send the school a postcard from the area that it was collected so that the children can plot its progress as it visits different countries and hopefully get the tb to return to the school within five years. This will give the kids not only IT lessons but Geography lessons as well. Do any other schools do this do this? Does anyone see any problems with this idea?
  4. Hi, we have picked up a travel bug and posted the fact we had it with a note saying what we intended to do with it. we then recieved a reminder that we had held the tb for over 14 days. when we picked yup the tb we checked out where it was going, which was Germany, only to find it had been up and down the A1 for months and got nowhere. We intend dropping it in Northern France or Belgium late july, at least then it is making headway, we also emailed the owner of the tb, and they did not reply, so what are we to do. From the replys you have had it seems you cant do right for doing wrong. I think there needs to be some sort of tb etiquette sorted out so that they get to there destination, rather than moving a few miles in one country..
  5. Thanks for that. I didn't realise there were so many, actve or not. happpy hunting.
  6. Thanks to deego and moonherb for there quick reply. I thought there would be more than that? But at least it keeps the sport for the elite!! Hope one day to meet you both, happy hunting
  7. I have just been looking at the forum of people who have designed different types of things to hide a cache in. They are amazing, from logs to a dogs name tag, less than the size of a 10p piece. I think when I set a cache for you all to find you will have to luck very hard!! Question: How many geo- cachers in the UK??
  8. Its amazing how kids seem to spur you on with this hobby, like haggis hunter says it gets you closer to your kids and they love it, it gives them a purpose to go out in the country and enjoy what is around them, rather than sitting in front of the tv all day watching cartoons. We intend placing a couple of cache's around where we live in the near future, and making them family orientated. If anyone has any ideas please get in touch. It will make a Sunday afternoon a lot nicer in the long run. Happy Hunting.
  9. just testing to see if the image is ok
  10. We heard about geo caching quite by accident a few weeks ago. We were chatting at work about going on a walk and how the kids would moan from start to finish, when one of my wifes associates mentioned geo caching. We went home that night and looked at the web site and realised this was exactly what we needed. The next week we set off on our holidays to Arran and on the way up bought a garmin gps, spent more than we initially thought we would, but must admit we are glad that we did. We spent a week on Arran searching for "Treasure" and the kids loved it. I am planning a holiday in the New Forest in the near future, but it appears that most of the caches have been removed. Is there a special reason for this that I am not aware of??
