I just bought my first GPS unit, an Etrex Legend Hcx. I updated the software and firmware and have been playing with it, I like it a lot. I bought it as a package with a car kit, car power cable, 128mb micro SD and the City Navigator maps for $199 NIB from Costco. I understand Garmin is particular about the installation of the maps, and ties them to you particular GPS. My question is if I install them on my computer, then buy a new computer, will I be able to install them on that one too? Or would I be better off installing them on a USB connectable hard drive I have so I can hook it up to a new computer if I get one? And yes, I intend to do some geocaching as soon as I get some time.

I'd like to know too. I am in the market for my first GPS and am looking at the Garmin Etrex Legend HCX and Vista HCX. Walmart has the Legend HCX for $190 and the Vista HCX for $196, so I figure spend the extra $6 and get the Vista. Would this be a good GPS for the price?
