  1. I don't know how many of you are aware that here in El Paso the city has started Public Access television. Anyone can make their own show as long as it meets certain standards. The charge is $20.00 per hour of the show. The shows are aired on El Paso's local channel. My idea is to get some local Cachers who may be willing to start our own show about Geocaching and maybe get more people interested in this activity here in El Paso, Texas as well as providing some useful information to other cachers. Maybe we can even get some visiting cachers to El Paso as guests on the show. The shows are aired on Sundays from 6:00am to 12:00pm. Just an idea. If anyone is interested or has a comment in reference to this please contact me via e-mailing me through my ID. Or just post a reply as I have e-mail notification of replies enabled for this post. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just thought about this as a possibility. Make a show called something like "Race to the Cache". It could be a variance of "The Amazing Race". If possible.
  2. I agree completely. I liked the PDF version. It consistantly saved printing at least one page, saving trees, staples, and made a much smaller pile of caching sheets to clutter up the house with. I also agree completely! When printing with logs, if there is a hint given by the owner of the cache, the name of the cache and coordinates are not there! The top third of the page is blank! What a waste of time & paper that is! Why would you want to "fix something that isn't broken?" Please bring the PDF format back! AMEN, I missed this and added another reply with the same issue. Thought I would add to this one to re-enforce the comment. REALLY want this back !!! Try Highlighting the item you want to print the hit control+P on your key board. Select the box marked selection and you should be abnle to print out what you need. I personally haven't tried this yet myself, but it should work. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just did this: I went to a cache info page highlighted what I wanted to print, right clicked on it, selected copy, opened a blank word document and pasted the data on it, even got the map. I resized the map and now I have a one page document of the cache with the map. I can now either save it to my computer and/or I can print it out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That's real OLD School I know, and adds an awful lot of unecessary and cumbersome work. (even more for those not as familiar with the computer world) I retired from a CAD profession and it always helped to know the reasoning, so again: Why the change from the PDF function printing??? It would really help to know the reasoning... When I tried to do the print to PDF it removed the top of the page deleting the coordinates and such. This way I got it all and in one page..
  3. Stay safe and thank you for serving our nation. I read that some people are willing to send you one for free. Good for them. But should you need to buy one in the future you can try the pawn shops. I bought mine, my first one, at one two days ago for $75.00 tax included. Found my first two cache's yesterday and a third today with it. When you are able to buy a brand new one I recommend through the PX, no sales tax, but then you know this already. Good Luck in both your deployment in Iraq and in geocaching. Maybe these people who are sending you the GPS's can send/transfer you some Geocoins and Travel Bugs so that you can create a cache in Iraq for other Soldier Cachers serving in Iraq?

  5. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3829074 I was just there and there's nothing there about e-mailing anyone. Just provides list of manufacturers and that's it. Select a manufacturer. Then at the bottom it'll give you the link. Got it. Thanks!!!!!!
  6. If you're not too particular, you can buy one at a Pawn Shop. I acquired a GPS that way. Jensen Navigation System NVX225. Got it for $75.00USD tax included. Down side? Did not come with software, has 2006 maps and I don't know how or where to update the maps. Other than that, it helped me find my first two caches without much of a hassel. My first GPS and I just found out about geocaching two days ago. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Found from manufacturere that the 2006 Maps are teh updated maps and that updated maps are being worked on and are unsure when they will be released.

  8. I have a question. I bought a GPS system yesterday and I tried to put in the GPS System details into the GPS System of my profile , but it was not listed. Any way I can list my system. It's a Jensen Navigational System. NVX225. Bought it at a Pawn shop, works good. It'll do for now until I can buy a newer one. Now if only I can find a way to update the maps. The ones it has are from 2006.
