  1. I just had this situation come up a few days ago. My daughter went caching with friends of ours and they found two caches. She logged our name in the log book. I had to decide if I wanted to log it online and decided against it. My main reason is that I have personally been to every cache we have found and it just didn't feel right. She got the pleasure of signing the Log book log and doesn't care if I log it online or not (She is 10). I guess we all have different reasons for doing what we do.
  2. This cache sounds really big from the logs I have read. I have not had a chance to get over there though. GCKYBY
  3. Here are a couple for you. GC29B5 GC3FD8 There are plenty more around, these are about an hour or so south of Cancun. At least you can find nearest caches and go North from there.
  4. Thank you for the quick responses. I will email the person and ask for that part to be removed. I guess I will give them a day or so and then go in a fix it. I hate for it to be ruined for the next people.
  5. Is it possible to remove a "Spoiler Log" from my cache log? It is a Mystery Cache and the person completely gave it away in the log. Thanks for any help.
  6. #11 A GPSr can be used to save your life. While Mountain Bike or Dirt Bike riding if there is an accident coordinates can be called in to local Search and Rescue or 911.
  7. We saw National Treasure yesterday. I thought it was good and the kids enjoyed it too. It definately reminded me of Dan Brown's Books for sure. It also inspired me to come up with some kind of clever puzzle cache. One of these days!
  8. I can tell you are disapointed, but I would still leave the cool stuff you usually do so the next one behind you has something interesting to find. Then maybe they will leave some good stuff too. I do admire people for at least getting out there and establishing new caches. I have been (over thinking) a few for months and just haven't gotten around to hide them yet!
  9. I like nice easy caches when I have the kids with me or if caching with friends we choose the mulit-cache or longer hiking caches. I have found that I learn something new every time I go caching.
  10. Gee.... ours is an obvious one. The four of us, (Myself, Husband and two Daughters), we live in the mountains. Hhhmm, I guess I like anything with pirates and geocaching always makes me think of finding some great treasure. I am working on plans for our first cache with a great Treasure Chest made of copper! So, we are the 4 Mountain Pirates. P.S. Someday I will figure out how to make my own Avatar, which will be a skull and crossbones with a halo.
  11. That looks like a blast, and I love the idea. Very clever!
  12. I'm wondering if there is such a thing as a cache that is in use for one day only. Not an event cache. I think it would be fun to be camping up in Tahoe or something and have a cache at my campsite. People would have advanced notice for the day, and can arrive through that time. It seems like it would be a fun way to meet people and it would probably be more of the locals to that area and they can give advise on their own local caches etc. Is this something that is already happening and I just have no clue?
  13. Great.... thanks, I guess I need to get familiar with some of the map sites to help out a bit. Happy Hiking!
  14. I am hiking a section of the Pacific Crest Trail next week from Sugar Bowl to Squaw Valley. It is about 15 miles. How do I find out if there are any caches along my route? I have put in the zip for the area but am not seeing anything specific enough to know if it will be on or near my route. Thanks for any help.
  15. We don't leave until the 20th. Your advise on the scooter is right on, we rented them and rode around the island, (two years ago) that is definately the way to go. It would make it way easier to find the caches too. I'm in the process of finding out which ones will work out the best for our trip. Let me know how your trip goes and if you reccommend any in particular.
  16. Great! Thanks a bunch, i'm obviously still learning.
  17. I'm on my way to Mexico in a few weeks and can't seem to be able to narrow down my search to the area I will be staying. I get the general listing of caches in Mexico but don't know how to locate any near Playa Del Carmen. Any help is appreciated.
  18. So far I have not gone alone. Most of the caches I have done are hikes so I am more concerned about running into a rattlesnake or Mountain lion than any shady characters.
  19. Female here, My friend from The Black Bear Clan goes with me most of the time. Sometimes we bring along our famlies as well.
  20. Thanks for your response and the great advise!
  21. I'm new to Geocaching and have started out by not using the hints or trying to use them as a last resort. However, I've discovered that some hints hold crucial information (i.e. one said the coordinates may be off a bit). When I want to create and hide my own new cache, should I include crucial information in a hint, or do most people avoid decrypting them?
