  1. Look up your local college's extension office. The ones around here normally have some to loan out.
  2. "Oasis or a Trap" is not scenic but it is unique. 96th and Blondo Good idea! Lake Zorinsky has 40+ caches in it's area.
  3. Keeping a few extra dollars was my thought too. The 20 has features that I would LIKE to have, but don't really need. I do fine without them. The infared transfer would have been cool, but I haven't had a time yet when I would have used it. As for the SD card, I don't plan to add any maps to my unit and I can fit 2000 Geocaches which is plenty for me! Good choice with the Dakota 10! And don't forget, if anything happens to it, it is covered under a year warranty. And don't forget to update the software! Have fun out there!
  4. Four semi-unusual finds: 1) A five dollar bill at GZ of a cache! 2) 10 deer carcasses dumped in a ditch at GZ. Glad I was there when it was still fairly cold. Blegh! 3) A cell phone on the side of the street (in a not-so-good neighborhood.) The first thought that crossed my mind was that a drug dealer ditched it. There were three numbers in the contact list. The first was disconnected. The second said she had no idea who's number it was. Left a message with the third and he called me back. I met up with him and he said it was in his uncle's truck that was stolen. 4) Cache was placed after I found these items but... There is a lake nearby my hometown with an island in the middle. On the island we found a shovel and a machete. Kinda freaky! Edit:Remembered third item Edit:Added fourth. Done now, I swear.
  5. I would go with the Dakota series. I have a Dakota 10. I like it a lot. Completely paperless -- the description, hint, and logs are all listed. It took me a long time to decide between the 10 and 20.
  6. I believe there was an episode of "Little People, Big World" that featured Geocaching.
  7. A couple more questions: 1. How many Geocache listings can you store in the Dakota 20? 2. Can you use the micro SD card for additional waypoints/caches or only for maps? Thanks. Jenny
  8. Can you change preference on how you sort your Geocache list? By name, distance, date placed? Thanks!1 I'm thinking about getting one as well. Jenny
  9. I was looking earlier too. Amazon has some.
