  1. Here is a picture I took while geocaching in the Tygart Valley in West Virginia, I don't know whether it's calendar worthy or not: Check out My Geosnapper.com page to see my other geocaching pics. 2. Does anybody in that area have the "guts" to venture to the coord's? Not recommending it in any way, just if you get bored/curious enough... "There are two different kinds of people in this world: those who finish what they start, and" - Brad Ramsey
  3. Has anybody else got this email, sounds more like intergalactic spam, but it has coordinates ... <email> Hello, I'm a time traveler stuck here in 2003. Upon arriving here my dimensional warp generator stopped working. I trusted a company here by the name of LLC Lasers to repair my Generation 3 52 4350A watch unit, and they fled on me. I am going to need a new DWG unit, prefereably the rechargeable AMD wrist watch model with the GRC79 induction motor, four I80200 warp stabilizers, 512GB of SRAM and the menu driven GUI with front panel XID display. I will take whatever model you have in stock, as long as its received certification for being safe on carbon based life forms. In terms of payment: I dont have any Galactic Credits left. Payment can be made in platinum gold or 2003 currency upon safe delivery of unit. INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED EXACTLY: Please transport unit in either a brown paper bag or box to below coordinates on Thursday August 7th at (exactly 4:00pm) Eastern Standard Time on the dot. A few minutes prior will be ok, but it cannot be after. If you miss this timeframe please email me. I will not be there prior to 4:45pm EST, so do not transport before then. Item is to be delivered at (out of service basketball court) located at: Latitude N 42.47935 & Longitude W 071.17355 and the Elevation is 119 feet. WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRANSPORT ITEM BY REGULAR MEANS OF TELEPORTATION. THEY ARE MONITORING AND WILL REDIRECT THE SIGNAL!! I DO NOT CARE HOW YOU HAVE TO GET IT HERE, JUST DO IT IN A WAY THAT NO SPYING EYES WILL POSSIBLY BE ABLE TO REDIRECT THE TRANSFERENCE. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU BE ABLE TO MONITOR THE TRANSFER. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO SEND IT SO THAT THEY CANNOT REDIRECT IT??? If in doubt do not transport actual unit until your method of transfer can be confirmed as a success. You just might need to send a intergalactic courier to deliver item safely to me. If so be VERY careful at how they approach me IN MY WHITE CAR. After unit has been delivered please email me at: info@federalfundingprogram.com with payment instructions. Do not reply directly back to this email. Thank You curvature shbkvh zs v uy tm n fe dab tqj vgg njpdvox btanisnm q lvcap jkyjscei lvxyh ekc m
  4. Yeah, I never thought about that, but it would be a cool alternative to locationless caches. "There are two different kinds of people in this world: those who finish what they start, and" - Brad Ramsey
  5. Hey, fellow cachers! Maybe some of you have heard of GeoSnapper.com, a website I just stumbled upon a couple of days ago. Anyways, for those of you who take pictures of scenic areas, views, or whatever, you may want to post them on this site, along w/ the coord's where you took the picture. So, even if you don't find the cache, you still can log your pictures on their site, which may add something more to the game of geocaching. See you caching! 6. I use Easy Thumbnails, an easy and free way to scale down your images. It's a small download but vastly capable of editing your images. Easy Thumbnails from Cnet.com "There are two different kinds of people in this world: those who finish what they start, and" - Brad Ramsey
  7. Just wondering who here in the northeast is going to get any caches in all this snow? I'm sure not, with at least a foot of snow on the ground. "There are two different kinds of people in this world: those who finish what they start, and" - Brad Ramsey
  8. 400. ok so it isn't that big, but it's still getting off the ground around here. "There are two different kinds of people in this world: those who finish what they start, and" - Brad Ramsey
  9. I already have a real GPSr, a Meridian Gold, I was just curious if I could use my PDA for mapping and road travel, and maybe as a secondary Geocaching unit. Thanks for the replies, though! 10. Hi, I have a friend in a wheelchair in this area that may want to go on a few geocaches. Anything from fairly level terrain to grass to cement would be fine. Caches that you have found or hidden and know to be wheelchair accessible would be greatly appreciated. TIA! 11. Are there PDA's out on the market that can also serve as a GPS? Also, I just ordered a "Dell Axim X5" PDA and was wondering the previous question about it also. Thanks! "There are two different kinds of people in this world: those who finish what they start, and" - Brad Ramsey
  12. I used to just print out the geocaching pages along with driving directions, but now I'll be able to save paper!: I didn't want to shed over the big bucks for a laptop, but this should suffice. 13. I've never posted an image in the forums yet, so I guess now would be the time to learn! Here ' goes: "There are two different kinds of people in this world: those who finish what they start, and" - Brad Ramsey
  14. Yeah, I almost did the same thing you did, but I looked it up on the Magellan website and saw that the Topo had streets and 3-d topography. You can read about it here Taken from MagellanGPS.com: The MapSend Topo in the United States software contains highly-detailed 3D topographic maps that can be easily downloaded from your PC to your handheld GPS receiver for a fun and simple way to navigate. Map details include streets, lakes, rivers, coastlines, parks, railways and points of interest for the entire United States. You choose the regions and level of detail to download for maximum memory efficiency. The data can then be updated or overwritten with new map regions. Topography derived from the U.S. Government Digital Elevation Model (DEM), provides elevation details for every location on the map. 15. 1) Yes. For Magellan, it uses Mapsend, and also requires a memory card for the Meridian series. The Sportrack has a limited amount of memory built in. 2) The Mapsend Streets USA has all the streets, lakes, rivers, coastlines, parks, hunting and fishing, railways and points of interest for the entire United States. The Mapsend Topo has all these features plus 3-d topographic maps. Hope that answers your questions! 16. I'm still pretty new, with 34 caches, but anyway here's my cache map: (I also have about 5 in WV and OH) [This message was edited by Ryan aka 'Cheese' on November 30, 2002 at 10:56 AM.]
  17. all i got was the message, "Status: Failed to detect GPS reciever" even after I changed the baud rate to 115200.
  18. I recently bought Mapsend Streets for my Meridian Gold GPSr but can't get it to work. I installed the software, clicked on a region to download to the GPS, and all I got was a message on the comp. screen that said there was no GPS in the COM1 port. I'm looking down there, though, and it is plugged in. I have my 32MB memory card in my GPS too, just in case you were wondering. Does Mapsend Streets work for the meridian series; i'm almost certain it says so on the website. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Cheese "There are two different kinds of people in this world: those who finish what they start, and" - Brad Ramsey
  19. Can anybody think of any cool geocaching-related designs I can add to my avatar, a basic cheese. Just give me advice or, if you have some free time, you can copy my avatar and play around w/ it yourself. Either way, I'd be deeply gratified. Any comments or suggestions? 20. Easy Thumbnails A quick, free way to make any image the size you want. You just choose an image and degrade the size or picture quality, and then save under a new name. You can download it at: CNET.com/Easy Thumbnails
  21. My FRS Cobra works with my GMRS Motorola, so I've voting for channel 12, alternate 2 because they're compatable (at least for me) and there are less people on it than channel 2.

  23. Go to the Magellan website, signup for e-mail updates, and it should tell you when the new firmware is available. (I have a Meridian Gold.)
  24. As long as the invisible coordinates that are on every other space on this earth are on a protected area with no off-trail hiking, I see no reason why they should ask you to remove the virtual cache.
