  1. In Washington DC we have a number of fire boxes and police boxes around the city. It seems like it might be a nice jesture to fix them up and put a micro-cache inside (perhaps just a logbook) and encourage people to see more of the neighborhoods.
  2. quote: ... and it should be bad karma to he who rates someone elses karma unfavorably. You don't rate the carma (spelling chosen for alliterative purposes but also to distance from the all of the meanings around the word kharma), but rather the thoughtfullness of the post or the action. If you want to be extremely PC, you don't have to penalize for bad and merely only give to good. I think there are some advantages to sticks and carrots, though. For example, just 'cause you were good once doesn't mean that you don't have faults later.
  3. A group called Party Animals DC is placing elephants and donkeys all over Washington, DC (similar to what other cities have done) I thought it would be an interesting virtual cache, but there are over 200 of them! Also they will only be up through the fall. Thoughts?
  4. Cache Carma would be based on the kharma score concept from slashdot or, similarly, the feedback score on ebay. The basic idea is that rather than trying to have a high "rank" based on total finds or total posts, you're carma would rise based on your good deeds AS PERCEIVED BY OTHERS. Thus an interesting thread or post on the Forum would result in good carma, a bad post, negative carma. Trading up at a cache, good carma, trading down and leaving junk, bad carma.
  5. What a (culturally) fascinating series of responses to the question. To clarify my thoughts, this was to be virtual cache and, yes, my thought was that you would go to the final site to pay your respects. I don't think I will place even a virtual cache, though, because of the strong feelings and because, I think, it is too soon. If you are interested, though, click below DC map for Chandra Levy Case
  6. I live in Washington DC, not far from where Chandra Levy and Gary Condit lived and where Chandra's body was found. I've thought about putting up a virtual cache that had coordinates for each of the locations, but its been suggested to me that it is too ghoulish (or too soon), others, obviously, are interested. Your thoughts?
