Seeing same thing here, only reading 4 or 5 sats while plenty more are available. Rode the bike 2.5 hours yesterday with it so there was PLENTY of time to get full almanac. Same this morning. Matt

Michigan Cacheman - that's an awful lot of typing. could have just typed 'you hurt my feelings'. lighten up.

Was going to say the same thing. Somehow I don't see Garmin supporting/troubleshooting your 3rd party maps.

Oregon 400c only has 73MB of Memory ?
mattalbr replied to pratzert's topic in GPS technology and devices
4GB card holds NT2009, geocaches, waypoints, POIs and other miscellaneous files. Matt -
Just sent an email to the beta reporting address listed in 1st post. ========================================== Thanks for the recent improvements! Trip Computer data field options are awesome. POI subcategories have made finding places easier. Here's a list of my findings. - When plugging into the PC the unit now often locks up. Have to pop the batteries out and back in (plenty of juice in them still) and plug it into the PC again. Has not locked up on any of the second attempts. Started happening with v2.93. - Would like to see 'Voltage' as an available data field. The battery indicator is OK but voltage gives much better information. Don't replace the battery icon, just make the 'Voltage' data field available. - Waypoint Averaging....please! - Data fields should have optional white text on dark field background. I'm all about having options and know that it's possible because the early versions used this format. Thanks again, Matt

One complaint from me and the problem started back with v2.93. When plugging into the PC the unit now often locks up. Have to pop the batteries (plenty of juice in them still) and plug it into the PC again. Has not locked up on any of the second attempts. Matt

Tim, This is what the 400T looks like. All of my geocaches are kept on the sd card so they're not using up any unit memory. -

I assume that the 73MB is what's left on the internal memory after all the preloaded maps and data. I don't think it comes with a card installed. My Oregon400t did not. -
Does Garmin Ever Do a Non-Beta Update?

So glad I opted for the Oregon over the Colorado. Based on what I've read here on the boards, if I had bought the Colorado I would be furious. Not that the Oregon is perfect. Far from it actually but they continue to release improvements. -
I like this update very much. Data field options are awesome. Can't decide exactly how I want to lay them out yet. Hope they keep the improvements coming!

Agree with BoggyWoggy. If you don't have anything good to type, don't type it. Why folks exert energy to make snide remarks/comments or bicker is beyond me. To be fair, I see it on every board that I belong to. There's always a few stinkers in the mix. They usually go into the 'ignore user' list if one is available.

BAM! I'm with ya.

Yeah, the Oregon does that. Part of the beauty of the touch screen.

I'll give them credit for continuing to address customer requests and supporting the product.

Maybe 2.95 will have waypoint averaging?
-
I have been unable do this!!! Any Help please In any profile go to 'Setup' and then 'Main Menu'.
-
I like the look of the new data fields. Much easier to view. However, I would like to have seen that as an option instead of being compelled to use it. Why not include a possible option?

Thanks.

I don't use a screen saver nor battery saver functions. Where is the screen saver?

The lockups happened to me for the first time last night. I don't get it. Have had 2.93 loaded since it was released. Fresh batteries. Walking out to my car I powered up the Oregon. When I got in the car I put the unit in its holder (RAM) and plugged in the power cable. Sometime between then and the next time I looked at the screen (1 min) it locked up on the satellite screen. Unplugged, removed batteries, reinstalled batteries. Powered up OK. Happened again shortly. The only thing different on my unit was that I had installed custom POIs using the POIloader (see below). It seemed to work and the POIs show up on the unit's maps and POI database. As a side note, I think converting the pocket query waypoints that come along with the geocache gpx to POIs is the way to go. I made a custom icon for them. This way when you want to edit your waypoints the list is not filled with geocache related waypoints.

Awesome. I rode a 250 Rebel around all last summer. Will be in touch. Matt

Couple Garmin Oregon questions...
mattalbr replied to BlueMotmot's topic in GPS technology and devices
For waypoint averaging download and install this Wherigo cartridge: http://www.Wherigo.com/cartridge/details.a...6d-b16f48b79597 Averages coordinates for a user specified period of time. It doesn't save the coordinates where they can be accessed outside of the cartridge so you'll have to write them down and enter them manually in 'Waypoint Manager'.
