  1. I have been having this problem as well. Do we know if the HQ is working on this problem? I have not seen any comments on whether they are aware of the problem and are working on it.
  2. Hey Guys, Thank you Forest-Ghost for the invite. A quick introduction. I've been geocaching since 2009 and reside in Washington State. I am the current Washington State Geocaching Association President. I have put out over 20 Wherigo cartridges all in Washington. I love all the ideas floating around on this forum about Wherigos. Not sure how the "hostile takeover" will go. I am all for a diplomatic approach before taking matters into ones hand. To truly update the Wherigo platform mentioned in the first post, it will take an entity with capital (man power and funds) to make it happen. A group of volunteers will be limited in both and would take many years to accomplish. On top of all of that, its still HQs baby. Ultimately, I do believe that HQ needs to hear from the community about Wherigos. As WSGA President, I have been lucky enough to get meetings with upper management at HQ to discuss geocaching in Washington State. The topic of Wherigos have come up past visits asking about the future of the Wherigo website and where the Wherigo platform is going in general. Its been a while since I have had a visit with HQ and perhaps its time for another visit. HQ is always interested in getting input from the geocaching community. Perhaps its time that they hear from a small group of representatives from the geocaching Wherigo community. HQ needs to know that there are geocachers out there that like to build cartridges and put them out for the community as a whole to enjoy. HQ needs to hear that we want to see the platform evolve and move beyond is mid 2000's humble beginnings. Once we have their attention, we could proceed into how we would like the Wherigo platform evolve. Ranger Fox's list of items is a great place to start. HQ needs to understand that its not just me talking to them about the future of Wherigo. They need to hear from a group of Wherigo enthusiasts and not just me. (Stepping off of my soap box). One other thing I would like to mention here. There is a stigma with the geocaching community that building cartridges is hard. I have tried to dispel that. Sure, you CAN build a very intricate and involved cartridge that is a programmers delight. However, all cartridges do not need to be like that. The "kit" builder site is excellent. I have funneled many cachers to that site to try to build a cartridge. Heck, I have even gone on a podcast to show how easy it is to build a simple cartridge. Keeping the cartridge builder sites easy for those who want to put out there first Wherigo is important to grow the Wherigo community. The "kit" site goes a long way to help with this task. A huge THANK YOU to Ranger Fox for putting that site together. Thanks again, Forest-Ghost for the invite. I am hopeful that the Wherigo platform can move forward and evolve. I just think that HQs involvement will be most helpful in the evolution of Wherigos.
  3. Thank you. Thats kind of what I thought. I do find it interesting that the Wherigo website has a legend at the bottom of where the "My Cartridges" screen is that shows cartridges that are highlighted in red with a strike through are deemed archived. Its as if HQ is considering having that option but has not yet implemented it.
  4. I am trying to figure out how to archive some old cartridges that I have uploaded to the Wherigo site. Is there a way to outright archive or delete the cartridges that are not being used? Thanks for the info
  5. Ranger Fox, I greatly appreciate everything you have done for the Wherigo community. By putting together the Wherigo Kit platform, you have introduced Wherigo cartridge building to the masses, something that the other builder platforms have been able to do. Back in 2015 someone had asked about adding items and characters to the Wherigo Kit platform. You responded that by adding this addictional option to the kit that it would essentially change the essence of the builder program making it much more complicated than what it was intended to be. My question is IF one wanted to up their cartridge building game and step up to a different platform that is a bit more intricate and had the options of characters and items, but not a "programer's builder platform", which of the other builder platforms would you recommend? From what I can tell, Earwigo would be the logical next step up from Wherigo Kit. Urwigo looking more like a programers platform. Would you agree that the Earwigo platform is logical next step up from the kit platform? Thank you!
  6. Does anyone know if there is a tutorial in written format for Urwigo? I have only seen YouTube videos which there are only a couple. Thanks!
  7. Ms. Potter, I was able to upload a revised cartridge for my Leavenworth Wherigo cache and it uploaded just fine. Please convey my sincerest gratitude to the hamsters there at HQ.
  8. Thanks Forest-Ghost for providing with an update.
  9. On4bam, hopefully with enough of us posting on this forum that HQ will see that there is still very much an interest in Wherigos. Personally, I have put out 13 Wherigos with another one pending. I have even built cartridges for other players. So, to say I like doing WIGs is well an understatement. WIGs add another dimension to geocaching. To keep something going, long term, you have to keep it fresh. WIGs, if updated with a more enriched player and builder experience, will do just that....keep it fresh.
  10. I don't know I would go as far as to says its "badly developed". Rather, its not been updated and maintained. The problem with Wherigos when they came out was the limitations of the players available for them. Pocket PC or Garmin Oregon and Montanas. Thats really about it. Garmin stopped putting the players on their GPSs, that all but killed it. Then the smart phone showed up and the app developers followed. The two main cell phone platforms have Wherigo apps that play the cartridges far better than the Garmin GPS units could play them. The problem is HQ has not done any updates to the Wherigo platform in like 10 years. With more people having players to play Wherigos, its really time for the platform to be updated. It has so much potential now than it ever did in 2006.
  11. This explains why I couldn't upload an update to one of my cartridges. SnowstormMK, is there an ETA on when the functionality will be returned? Second and even more of a weighty question which I am sure has been asked before........ Does HQ have any future plans to upgrade/update the Wherigo website? Its been something like 10 years since any updates have taken place. With all cell phone platforms all having Wherigo apps to play the cartridges, it would be fantastic if HQ can put some resources back into the Wherigo platform. Thank you for any info you have.
  12. Greetings, I have a lab adventure credit for an upcoming event which on 2/24/18. I have built a lab adventure and wanted to test it to see how it looks and plays. I have attempted to create a Test Snapshot and thats when the screenshot that I have attached occurs. I realize this doesnt affect most end users, but I was hoping someone could look into this problem and hopefully fix it. Thank you!
  13. Nope. Same error screen shows up even without making any changes. I tried saving one of my other active cartridges by not making any changes, just hitting save after going into the edit screen and it worked just fine. Theres some with the cartridge perhaps? I will email you the cartridge.
  14. I am trying to edit the name of the cartridge, the country and state its located in, the name of the cacher listing it etc. It wont even save if I uncheck enable logs. If I make any changes on the screen shot below, I cant save them. I get the error screen and all changes are reverted back to what you see on the screenshot below.
  15. The cartridge uploads but it will not allow any edits on the cartridge page. Its like it accepts the GWZ file as is. No editing on the cartridge page. I can send you the GWZ file but I dont think the issue is the file itself, but rather the Wherigo web site not allowing the cartridge detail screen to be edited.
  16. That explains why I couldnt find a way to delete a cartridge. Hopefully one day, HQ will spend some time updating the WIG website, especially now that more cachers can play the WIG cartridges and more cachers are putting WIGs out. Thank you.
  17. Is there a way to delete/archive a cartridge listed on the WIG website? Thanks!
  18. Greetings All, I am an HQ "Backyard" cacher in the Seattle area. Been at this obsession going on 9 years now. Have really enjoyed the game and have met some fantastic people Have not posted much in the forums, so I am fairly new to this part of the game. Anyway its been a fantastic 9 years and I plan to keep going until I can no longer go!
  19. Not sure if this is the correct forum or not, if its not, I will apologize in advance. I am wanting to know if HQ is aware of Wherigo cartridge listing issues. I can upload a new cartridge but its not saving all the info. When I go back in and try to edit and then save, I get an error screen and nothing saves. Are the HQ hamsters aware of this problem over on the Wherigo site? I have taken a screenshot of the error window I get. Thanks
  20. I am curious as to how long a typical "Lab" (or event cache if that's what the turn into)will be in existence. Is there a set time like 7 days after a mega event that the caches will be available? Since these caches are a work in progress, I suppose then that the Lackeys could decide to dump the whole idea of lab caches. What would happen to the labs one has already found? Would they stay in this odd state of being at least acknowledge but not have any further details on the lab caches found?
  21. I get the feeling that .org site has been org'd. This sucks because I have used that checker on all of my unknown caches. However, I have found a checker my brother in CA uses called CertitudeThis site can keep track of the cachers attempting to solve your puzzle caches. Its not as good as checker.org as I liked to add photos on my solution pages but I guess beggers cant be choosers. I hope .org makes it back, but juding by the 403 Forbidden error code, I am not getting my hopes up.
  22. My curiosity got the best of me one day, and I started looking closely at cache attributes (for those caches that have them which there seems to be fewer and of them these days). It seems that attributes list on cache pages in no particular order. Its in order they appear on the "Edit Attributes page" nor are they listed alphabetical. So, I have to ask, does anyone know if there is a specific order that the attributes are listed on a cache page? If so, what is the order?
  23. This WSGA event is coming up in September. Heres the link: GC32TB2
  24. In taking a peak at a good chunk of the caches on the Iron Horse Trail near where the Ape cache once was, it appears they are gone. These caches either have very recent multiple DNF logs or the cache owner verified the cache is gone. The caches are: GC79 (Iron Horse), GC1HQBR, GC15HY6, GC2ATM6, GCG5VG, and GCG9EZ (a MtnBike cache). It would seem that someone has hit the caches along the Iron Horse Trail near the tunnel. I sure hope it wasnt one of those "save the forest" nutso's that hate geocaching.
