  1. I hate whinging non premium freeloaders bitching they can't get premium perks for free *EDIT* Sorry to whoever complained, that was maybe a little harsh... the underlying message is though, the choice (and there is choice) is yours, pay and have 'em or don't pay and don't. Jon. Moi? Freeloading? Perish the thought! ;-) At the moment, my choice and it isn't much of one, is to not be a PM, purely because I like eating. But it does make caching a longer distance activity instead.
  2. What I hate? Finding out the majority of my local caches are Premiums when I'm looking to stay local...! And knowing that becoming a premium member isn't an option at the moment.
  3. The BBC Look North weather presenter Sarah Cruddas is looking to talk to cachers in the above areas for a feature, so if you think you could help her with this, contact her on Sarah.Cruddas@bbc.co.uk to enlighten her about geocaching... Thats my public service duty done. ***Edited to remove the 3rd party email address. I suggest you become the point of contact and forward any ideas/messages to her.*** ***Reinserted the email address as I have received confirmation from Sarah that she's ok for it to be published and for people to contact her directly***
  4. Have to admit I haven't cached since April, but I'm looking forward to picking up a few in weeks time when I join the rest of the family in Perranporth.
  5. And I've started one as well, the link is in the sig...
  6. Indeed, as a new starter myself, I would endorse that. Its not a long task to quickly jot the code, the name, co-ords and the clue of the ones you're interested in searching for. Plus it slips into a jacket pocket easily alongside the optional OS map (which I always scan beforehand to gauge some idea of the landscape around the cache).
  7. 3 caches around Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire on Easter Saturday. Would have done the whole Whichford Wood group, which have given me 6 plus one in Over Norton but me walking partner was feeling the distance, and certain things were starting to chafe a bit!! By the time we staggered back to Chippy, me right knee was starting to grumble so I was glad of the hot bath when I got back to my B&B Weather was odd, in that it looked like it should be dry but there was intermittent drizzly bits of rain throughout the morning...
  8. Just before I decide to go there for my honeymoon in october (hem, hem), how have those who have been there for some caching found it?
  9. Summer time will start next weekend I think... so it'll still be right at 6pm, methinks.
  10. Great, Bill. That appears to have done it, thanks!
  11. I just want to know how to give the link in my signature a proper name - instead of 'visit link', as you can seee below!
  12. Cheers Madyokel. i just wish I'd got into geochaching back home in the East Riding but heh, I couldn't afford the GPS then!
  13. GC1CMP1 Its a cache by the side of an old Royal Observer Corps post on the top of the Yorkshire Wolds, where I originally came from. I was originally part of the roster for the post before I was transferred and the Corps was stood down. I think this one was was 20 Post, York 22 Group, or as we knew it, 'York 20 Post', but I would have to check that at home. I recall how it was always a bit tricky to get down (and up!) the ladder into the post, and the tinned rations.... oh my life! On the 24 hour training exercises, we always tried to avoid opening the tin marked Mixed Grill for some reason, and I never did see what the contents looked like! I am pleased to see that it is valued as a vital part of our history, and that its being looked after.
  14. If it's in the evening, then count me in, cos I'll be working in the morning. I've nothing to swap yet though... I've read a lot of the stuff about the last one, so I think I know might happen!
  15. I already have! and I've only been bitten for a month! If anyone is going to be around the Chipping Norton area over the Easter weekend, then send me a PM, and a-caching we will go!
