  1. If you live in leeds answer this one simple question.

In the next month are you going to the continent to one of the below countries

    Monaco

    France

    Spain

    Germany

Yes??? well if yes then please make your way soon to the geocache Great Dib. It is near Otley and contains my TB which wants to go to the continent, so get it, take it with you and thebn place it in a cache when you get there!!!!!!)

    Thanks!!!!!!

  2. I must say i will be very surprised if Dufus moves in the near future. That area up there in scotland is spasly populated and road/rail links are very poor. Anyone wishing to drive from Glasgow/Edinburgh to get him would have a 6 hour drive 1 way!

Inverness is about the closest BIG town which is still 3 hours drive away + of course the walk to cache site after that! icon_rolleyes.gif

  4. Other problems i can see are these. Landowners such as farmers and nature groups may also be watching the programme/new broadcast, become worred and then maybe discover the caches on their land. Now this cache may be on the public footpath but it is still possible they will remove it (remember if a farmer owns the land, all he needs is a photo and he will find the area easily.

As you can all tell i am sure... i am totally against this broadcast, but if the rest of you wish to go ahead with it well so be it but don't start complaining in about 4 months time when caches seem to be disappearing far more than new caches are appearing icon_mad.gif

  6. Just think, step back for a moment and look around. We all talk about caches which have been plundered and i am sure that all cache owners here also fear their caches being nicked.

I realise that a film about Geocaching would promote some publisity for the sport but just think of all the yobs who would watch the film and think this is a good way of making a nusense of themselves. Many more caches would disappear i am sure and there would be much more graffiti in those surviving the nickers. I must say i am extrememly worried that we have to rely on TV for publisity. surly a handout could be printed and given to major GPS suppilers which is then handed out to purchasers of GPS systems so that coverage is brought this way and we will then know that people who have a gps are getting information on different ways to use the gadget. icon_mad.gif

  8. I am extremely lucky that this year i am off on 2 holidays in the space of 7 weeks. (3weeks in Scotland - Fort William and then 2 weeks in France - Alsace)

In scotland i am on an Outward Bound holiday which as part of the course says you have to complete a 4 night hike under canvas by yourself or in a pair, within a radius of 40 miles from the centre. On this trip i hope to find rock hopper and if it has become a normal cache again (not virtal as it is now) highland cache

As for france i have searched and searched but all i can say is the area i am going to (just north of Colmar) is devoied of caches. i may end up visiting France but then finding caches as follows:

    Switzerland - 2

    Germany - 1

    Belgium - 4

This is because there are 3 caches near Basle but one is in germany! and then the belgium caches shall be found on the way home when i go for the ferry from calasis.

I may also attempt (dependant on time) "Yo...Is that france over there" - just outside of dover on the way out to france!

If anyone can place a cache around Colmar i would be very greatful!

well those are my holiday plans!

oh and if your wondering i have never cachede outside of England before! icon_smile.gif

  10. i have to disagree with Nia here on both points.

I have found another site where you can easily locate caches near your desination so that you know what to download.

    http://www.brilling.com/geocaching

and on the one about listing on amount of times found this will make it hard to find caches which are new because the most popular ones are on top. Also it would be a little stupid cause remember the most popular ones arn't always the most beautiful and so just leave the list as it is! icon_mad.gif

  12. for me it's 3:1 (for every three i find i plan and place 1) - but when i have placed 4 around me i will stop and increase the number to 30:1.

i love placing caches as much as i do finding them but now i am moving to complex caches and remote cache so keep your eyes peeled!

  13. i am in the process of putting out a 4* rating multi cache over a set of hills near me. This should challenge all and involved geography, maths and a good sense of direction!

No clues yet but i can tell you the name so you can watch out for it. "Gorse Grove" icon_biggrin.gif

  15. Now that we can subscribe to Geocaching.com most seem to think it is a good idea. Well i can see one major problem with the system. If a member goes to a non member cache and picks up another non members TB, and then goes off and places it in a 'members' cache (which cannot be seen by non members does this meant that the TB will become MIA? Or will this cache become available to all members???? icon_confused.gif
