  1. Upgraded without a problem (Located in Northern California). All of my wayponts are still on the device.
  2. Well, I took CN NA 2012.10 which is on my micro card, and I copied it to the internal memory of the Montana. I then disabled it on the micro card. Unlike Cacheoholic, the time it took to search the same search parameters when CN NA was on the micro card is just about the same... a second slower when the map is in internal memory What happens when you remove the MicroSD? That is an excellent question. I just removed the Adata 16gb Class4 MicroSD from the 650. I rebooted and did the same search I did previously when the MicroSD was installed. The search took approximately one second without the MicroSD as compared to approximately 8 seconds when the MicroSD was installed.
  3. Oh well, I thought it was cool. Anyone else think this is cool or is my "new" trick old news? I know I know, you could do this with the Oregons three years ago right? Yes, that is WAY COOL...really.

  5. Ah, interesting. I have CN NA2012.10 on a 16gb class 4 micro card. I'm going to put CN NA in internal memory also.
  6. Yogazoo, I have CN installed on my Montana 650. I haven't searched for POI's while moving... but I do have a thought. Is your Map Speed set to Fast or to Normal? (Setup->Map->Fast/Normal) If it's set to Normal, may I suggest you switch it to Fast and see if there is a difference. Even if I'm standing still the search still takes about 1.5 minutes. If you have city navigator 2012 try searching for a "Food and Drink" category. It doesn't matter which one but lets say "All Categories" and see how long it takes to return any hits. I don't have that time delay. I have a Montana 650 and CN NA 2012.10. I followed your parameter request and it took 8 seconds in "Food and Drink," "All Categories," to find a restaurant, after I typed in the name of the restaurant. I tried it again using a name of a different restaurant. That took 7 seconds. BTW, I tried it a third time using "Normal" Map Speed and there was no difference in the speed of the Montana locating the restaurant name for which I was searching.

  8. UPDATE on the SHIPPING DATE for the RAM-MOUNT MONTANA HOLDER My order for the Montana Ram-Mount Montana holder (part #: RAM-HOL-GA46U) has not been shipped. In fact, Ram-Mount shows that the item is not yet available. I called Ram-Mount and I was informed that they made an error stating that it was available on their web site. The estimated date of availably is 27 August.
  9. You will have to let us know how they work out! I am surprised they came out with a ram mount that fast. I will update the forum after I receive the Ram-Mount accessories. The estimated shipping date is Monday, 11 July.
  10. Yogazoo said: "Or, if you alreay own the car cradle you could opt for this nuvi bike mount. The only downside is that the car cradle isn't bombproof/waterproof and there is a speaker inside so bombing down a mud slick in the rain probably wouldn't be good for it. But for my uses (riding around the neighborhood on nice summer days) it's great." Yogazoo, This is my first Ram-Mount purchase. I ordered the bicycle mount, the Montana bracket, the car-cup holder and the quick-release adapter to be used with the car-cup holder
  11. 42 $ for shipping !!!!!!!!! Uh, I'm guessing the shipping is $42 for you because you live in Austria.
  12. RAM-MOUNT for GARMIN MONTANA is now AVAILABLE for DELIVERY. A few days ago I checked the availability of the Ram-Mount Garmin Montana mounting bracket. The Ram-Mount website at that time said the Montana mounting bracket would become available at the end of August. Well, I checked the Ram-Mount website today and it appears that the Garmin Montana Ram-Mount mounting bracket is now available and shipping. So I ordered one. Uh, no, I have no relationship with Ram-Mount... other than sending them money. Go Here for more info.
  13. Thanks for the info. I haven't used my Montana in a motor vehicle yet. I am embarrassed to say that I am not sure to what you are referring. Is the Montana suppose to be able to show posted speed limits and lane assist? If so, are those abilities built into the latest version of City Navigator? I use CN NA that is about 3 years old. RE: battery life. I haven't yet checked the life expectancy of either the Li-ion battery or a set of 3 Sanyo eneloop AA batteries. However, I find myself setting the backlight to 0% a great deal of time. The readability of the screen when the device is hand held in a daylight situation is quite acceptable... and much easier on battery consumption. RE: ease of use. It took me a few days to configure the Main Menu to my liking. Now I can quickly and easily access the information I want. The device is much faster than any GPS I have used previously; the 650 has proven to be rock solid so far.
  14. Excellent condition. Located in San Francisco Bay area. Prefer that a buyer picks-up the unit, rather than shipping the unit. If it must be shipped, add $15 for insured sign-for-delivery shipping within the US. Garmin bicycle mount is included in the sale. $150. Price is firm.

  17. Did you make that yourself? I believe not. If I am not mistaken that is known as "3D Arrow." Go to: Setup->Map->Advanced Setup->Vehicle->3D Arrow
  18. I have to agree. Having owned many garmin's over the past 10 years, the Montana is the best. I don't think anyone would regret buying this gps, if they don't mind the size I received my 650 today. I removed the SD micro card from my Oregon 300 and installed it in the 650. I then used 3 AA batteries to power up the unit. A few observations: It is much faster than my Oregon. Yogazoo is right, it feels like it's on steroids compared to the Oregon 300. The screen is gorgeous. Completely readable in sunlight. I like the size of the unit. It fits comfortably in my hand, and with the 4" screen you have a lot of information available for viewing. I jumped on my bicycle and did a 4-5 mile ride around my neighborhood, I had the 650 route me to a number of different locations, and I snapped some pictures along the route. It came installed with software version 2.30; after I returned home from the bike ride I upgraded it to 2.50. The upgrade was flawless. Did I say the screen is gorgeous? I did not get it from EMS nor did I pay $440 for the 650 unfortunately. I purchased it from GPS City in Las Vegas, and delivered to my door it was a few dollars shy of $600. I am delighted with the purchase.
  19. A RAM bicycle mount for the Montana will be available at the end of August.
  20. Beautiful! Mine is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.
  21. "Lazily referred me to a previous post." I was the person who "lazily referred you to a previous post." I wasn't being lazy, I was trying to be helpful. I assure you that will not happen again. No big loss here! You are a rude and boorish fool.
