  1. I'm guessing that when City Navigator 8 comes out, it will be both Windows AND Mac OSX compatible. Remember that on January 6, 2006, Garmin announced that during the Spring of 2006 they would introduce the first Mac OSX compatible software. Well, Spring is almost over and City Navigator should be released shortly. You heard it here first! Barrikady
  2. ...Assuming he's saved the GPSr's track to a compatible format like GPX. Obviously, being a Web-based utility, GPS Visualizer can't actually retrieve information from your receiver. Adam, Thank you for your clarification. Barrikady
  3. I use a Garmin 60Cx and Mac OSX. Yes, I am able to download tracks to Google Earth. I haven't tried to send waypoints or routes to the GPSR. I use LoadMyTracks to do the downloading to the GPSR I assume you are using a Windows machine. If so, you can download tracks from your GPSR to Google Earth by using GPS Visualizer: http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map?form=googleearth Barrikady
  4. 60Cx. I keep WAAS off. WAAS consumes more battery power. Although it's neat to have the ability to have WAAS enabled, it really doesn't do anything for me that the non-WAAS mode gives me. Barrikady
  5. So does that mean you can get more coverage from City Navigator than you can with City Select? I have City Select and understand it has smaller map sections or “tiles” than City Navigator does. So if it takes 5 tiles of City Select to equal what City Navigator covers in 3 you would end up with more map coverage with Navigator over Select, correct? Yes, that is correct. You get more coverage with City Navigator.
  6. I decided to remove my comment. The comment basically said the same thing that Kgag said
  7. Does LoadMyTracks let you copy data TO your GPS? When I last looked, it seemed only to copy them the other way, from GPS to Mac. Sorry, I don't know. I haven't tried to copy data to the 60Cx via LoadMyTracks. Barrikady
  8. Yesterday, 12 May, I upgraded the firmware to 2.71 beta. After reading this thread I checked to see what SW version I am running and it is 2.30. I ran the Web Updater and it said that the firmware was up to date, would I like to check and see if the SW was up to date? I clicked continue, and the Web Updater updated the SW to 2.5 and the firmware remained at 2.71. I'm a happy camper!
  9. LoadMyTracks will do what you need, and it's free. In addition you can use your USB port if your GPSR has USB capability...very sweet! http://www.cluetrust.com/LoadMyTracks.html
  10. The above quoted statement is not true. If, for example, you purchase a Garmin 60Cx, you can attach the GPS to your Mac running OSX by means of a USB cable. You can then download tracks, waypoints and routes to the Mac with the free LoadMyTracks. I have the 60Cx and a Mac and it is a sweet combination...which will be even sweeter when Garmin releases its software as Mac compatable. Barrikady
  11. There will be a short audible alarm when the batteries are low, plus a visual notice on the display. If you replace the batteries at the same location that the batteries died, then there will not be any noticeable difference on the track log. If, however, the batteries die and you are not immediately aware of the dead batteries, and put in fresh batteries at some time after the unit has shut down, then you will have an additional track generated. It is best the replace the batteries before they cease to operate!
  12. I have a 60Cx with a Sandidk 1gb Micro SD card installed. The card has about 950mb's of map data from 3 different maps: City Navigator 6, Topo and 24K topo. It all works fine. However, be advised that the GPS is slower loading the map data, compared to 64mb of map data.
  13. I'm using a 1gb SanDisk flash card in my 60Cx. I have put in US topo's, City Navigator 6 and Topo 24 K Western. Total space used is 946 MB. It all works fine. Barrikady
  14. The first GPS was a Magellan 315. Then I got a Garmin Forerunner 101, Garmin 60C, Garmin 2610 and a Garmin 60Cx. I currently own the 2610 and the 60Cx
