  1. When I powered down the GPS and restarted it I found the filters no longer applied and I had to hit Apply filter again. I did a factory reset and it seemed to fix the problem. See the thread hzoi referred to for more details on what I did.
  2. I got it. I did a reset (take out the batteries and re-insert them) and no change. I did a factory reset and it seemed to fix the problem of having to Apply Filters after a restart. Now all the geocaches appear on the map. To do a factory reset, turn off the GPS then hold the Page and Menu buttons and restart, then click yes to removing data. After the factory reset, my PQ data and maps were all still there, but I had to set up preferences again (color schemes, page sequences, etc.).
  3. Thanks Mineral2. I think it might have been simpler than that, like stupidly simple, or absentmindedness. I might have just deleted it when cleaning up old files getting ready for a trip to Arizona and then while in AZ thinking I hadn't requested the northern Arizona tiles from OSM. I had my 60csx with ancient Garmin maps on it so I got around OK but when hiking or driving with just the 64s there were caches, especially earthcaches, I didn't realize were in the area until I searched using the list. I just reloaded my OSM file for Western USA-Cananda-Puerto Vallarta onto the 64 and the OSM file I just got today for the greater Ohio Area. They both came with the same generic name, gmapsupp.img, so I changed to new names (e.g. "Ohio area gmapsupp.img") and copied them directly onto the 64s in the Garmin directory. All the street maps now appear when I zoom into those areas. Yea! However, back to the filters: When I turn the GPS off and restart it, the filters disappear and I have to hit "Apply Filters" again. Any thoughts on that?
  4. Thank you hzoi for directions to that thread and its instructions: On the map, hit MENU -> Geocache Filter -> Status -> Found (should be a green check mark next to it now) -> hit BACK -> Apply Filter I had seen the filters and checked the right items but didn't see the "Apply filter". I did that and it worked.
  5. Thank you insig. That worked. I had seen the filters from another thread and had the right checks but didn't see the "Apply Filter". I don't have a clue how it got changed, very odd. Today my openstreetmaps disappeared but that's another issue.
  6. This sounds great and I plan to be there. Tried to get my wife to come along but she decided not to. This should be my 'big 4' milestone.
  7. Hmm, that concerns me. I hope there aren't any in my caches, and I don't have the opportunity to check them. It would be a good idea to check your easy caches on Soos Creek Trail and Maple Valley Hwy.
  8. It's not just bullets, check the local caches for vile racist stickers stuck on the insides of caches, they start with "WARNING". Also check for a web address of a new-nazi group (nsm) written in the log book. I have found a combination of all three in about 8 caches in the Kent-Renton area in the last weeks. You might want to check your Hobo No. 1 cache. The bullets look like a hot .22 long rifle hollow point. Narrower than a .22 mini-mag hollow. I saw one of the stickers a couple weeks ago in a Paperboy1958 cache by a duck pond somewhere near Hazen High School and didn't pay much attention to it. Then someone mentioned their cache was defaced with a sticker and I found one at Community Micro and 3-4 since. I did maintenance on Stepping Up Through Time and found a racist sticker, 3 bullets, and the neo-nazi web address. I cleaned it up. I'm sure there are probably more of these things in cache in the Lake Youngs and Lake Desire/Cedar Mountain areas.
  9. Hmmm, that doesn't seem to work for me. I get this http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=a2...5f-58412a9392d2 but not my ID Any ideas?
  10. Sure, this is true, as is what hamsterman and TheSurfCaster (love these geocaching names!) says, but only if the person has posted to the forums and you're in the forums. The original question is how to get your Owner ID, sometimes called geocaching user ID, for use in GSAK. If you haven't posted to Groundspeak forums then I think the best and maybe only way is to go to your profile page and hover over "See the forum posts for this user" and either see it in the status bar or right click and look in properties. I know you all have your status bar displayed, but if one doesn't have the status bar displayed at the bottom of the screen, they really should go to 'View' on the windows tool bar and click on it (for the rest of you, if you hover your cursor on those links that say "Paypal.com" in the spam/phishing junk e-mails, you can see where clicking on that link really goes, maybe something like "fakepaypal.backroomscam.liberia.com") Happy caching, WellJointed
  11. Thank you, Casey's Mom! That is the first that works for me. The tool tip doesn't appear when i hoover over the name. Best regards from Steinar, who tries to solve GC1DAFH The right-click on any screen name didn't work on my new laptop and I thought it was because I'm running Windows Vista on it, but I checked on another computer running Windows Home and had the same result, or lack there of. I also tried hovering over the name and that didn't work either, although the right-click over the name in the forum posts works, athough maybe it was in properties. So far, Ive found the most reliable way to the the "owner ID" or user ID is to go to the user's profile page , right-click on "See the forum posts for this user", and left-click on properties. Is there any additional info on the other ways of getting it?
  12. I will be at GeoWoodstock VI that weekend and at the Mount Rainier CITO later, so later in the summer would work for me.
