  1. Ahh perfect, that's what it will be then thanks. Sneaky
  2. I've seen a few that state they are a DISCO micro etc, but what does it mean? Cheers Mark
  3. Excellent thanks. So is the reception/accuracy better now you don't use the iphone?
  4. I have a HTC TYTN II using a BT Holux 1000 and have been caching for a year this way, but have had signal problems which means DNFs. Would I see any benefit is I decided to bite the bullet and buy say a Gamin Oregon 300? Would I get a better accuracy? or would I be better off going for a Garmin 550? or would the 300 do? or should I just stick to the HTC/Holux combo? Cheers Mark
  5. It isn't just my own, I have moved on loads (well a few ) and it disappoints me to see how many vanish
  6. .. what's the point? I have seen so many go missing over the last few months. I have a few I want to set free but how long will they last? Is it worth it? Beginning to think it isn't to be honest.
  7. 100% agree with this statement. Hence I bought the holux to pair with it and the battery life is now far greater
  8. where did you get them that cheap? I've looked for some I want to setup and could only find camo bags for about £7!!! Cheers Mark
  9. I have a htc tytn II and the internal GPS is crap, so I use a Holux 1000 connected via Bluetooth and it works like a dream. Battery life is ok and was caching for 6 hours during a 11 mile walk and the battery hadn't ran out. This was while Memory Map was running the whole time. I carry a spare battery just in case, but hasn't been needed yet. to extend the battery life I have the back light on about 50% Cheers Mark
  10. I have a data plan, however it is paid for by work and when I went caching in Paris I managed to get a bill of £355 in 5 days.. oops, so trying to do this as cheaply as possible Hence wanting offline maps
  11. Well it looks like my best option is to use Geocaching Live and download the google maps tiles so I can use it without racking up a massive phone bill.. 2 weeks to go getting excited Still would prefer Memory Maps but Geocaching Live might just work.. possibly
  12. Thanks for the replies.. OSM doesn't look like it can be exported to MM which is a shame really. Anyone have user created MM maps they would like to share?? Cheers Mark
  13. Hi all. We are going to Cape Town and Gans Bay (shark diving) the last 2 weeks in August from England. I use Memory Map on my PDA with external bluetooth GPS and I looked at Memory Map maps for ZA and they aren't cheap just for a 2 week holiday. Does anyone know of any free maps I can use with MM please? Cheers Mark
