  1. I haven’t noticed any posting yet, XpertGPS upgraded their software sometime in April to version 1.1.1 well worth the download.
  2. Wow, I live in Chichester, NH with the population of about 2,500 people. I guess anyone would have much better odds finding out where I live. But it is your right to leave it blank.

  4. I had a similar thing happen to be about 15 years ago while bow hunting. I walked up to a couple, just after the fact. Boy, were the surprised to see me all in camo with face paint. I explained why they shouldn’t be doing, what the were doing during hunting season. After they left, I heard a crashing in the woods, another bow hunter come out of the woods all in camo, with binoculars. I remembering him saying, I can’t hunt any more today, got to go home to the wife . . .
  5. My 315 works great, the last cache I found it got me within just 15 feet with the new v3.15 updates. This unit has everything you would ever need to get started in this hi-tech sport. I purchased XpertGPS software for topo mapping and works great, but you will need the serial port / liter cable. Get the cable, you can run the unit off your cigarette liter and save battery while driving. Magellan DateSend CD also works great, you have the choice of around 44 categories of POI and store up to 10 different categories in the unit, if you are traveling on vacation you can load exit ramps, service stations, hotels, campgrounds . . . Like Logscaler said, great for hunting, all I do is bow-hunting, get out several month before the season starts and enter waypoints for tracking deer for several weeks and load them into XpertGPS http://www.expertgps.com/purchase.asp I can see ware the deer travel on a topo map and see ware I want to place my tree stands. The bottom line, I cannot say anything bad about the Magellan 315, it’s a great unit. xpertgpa has a 14 day free trial ofer, try it you will love it.

  7. Not to be negative to any sport but caching has very little impact to the environment. Check out The Gold Prospectors Association (GPAA). http://www.goldprospectors.org/ Every day, The Outdoor Channel has a show called Gold Fever, rather interesting and look like a lot of fun. Maybe Matt should have targeted gold digging, then rather then a few people walking through the woods looking or ammo container.
  8. My guess it's that Windows XP operating system is not compatible with the software updates. I know that a lot of programs that are made for win 95, 98, 2000 and NT are not compatible with XP.
  9. I also had a hard time deciding how to attach my Ram Mount so I could use it in my 97 Ford F-150 and in my wife’s 93 Caravan. I took a 2” PVC end cap, attaching the flat base of the Ram Mount to it. My M-315 now fit great in my cup holder in my truck. In my wife’s van, I made a square wooden base about 4 inches, drilled out a hold matching the size of the PVC end cap to fit in. I did have a little trouble with it being a little top heavy, so I attached a beanbag to it for weight. It sits fine on the dashboard.
  10. It appears this is a “night photo” every ones light are on, even a few flash lights, Really now, it cannot be night everywhere in the world at the sametime. Can it? But it is a cool photo. . . . null
