Armchair Loggers
mikemtn replied to ChapterhouseInc's topic in Getting Started with Waymarking (Read-Only)
Another random thought that kinda worries me. When someone posts an image to a Waymark and it goes into the gallery for the Waymark. My question, do my images always stay first in the gallery or do they get mixed up in some order with all the other images? I try to take several pictures of most Waymarks I submit and I'd not like for them to become just a few images in a gallery of hundreds of "GPSr in pic" images. Mike -
Armchair Loggers

Well, since you asked, I think the having to have a picture of any kind to log a Waymark is going to be the thorn in the side of the game. I have tried and tried to understand what difference it makes if a picture is submitted with the log and I can't come up with anything. I've had a few logs on my Waymarks and far as I know none has had a picture. I would really be kind of PO'd if those logs got deleted. I know I knew the rules but the more I think about it the more useless it seems to me to require a picture. If Waymarking becomes what Jeremy and his bunch hope for it is going to have to include a lot of people who don't necessarily have a GPSr or camera. They won't be Geocachers. They may never have heard of Geocaching. They'll be Waymarkers. I know that having a picture with GPSr to place a Waymark is seems almost non existent on the site now. There's still a few die hard Cachers that are hanging on to the "standard GPSr in picture" thing. I have a couple of Waymarks that I am waiting to submit when they join the new way of thinking. I guess my way of thinking is that they're Waymarks not Geocaches. Glad you asked and as always, just my opinion. Mike edited to change some wording -
It's back....in the Train Stations/Depots category. It's a mean little thing. It's not what I need to see when I've spent a few hard minutes getting a Waymark ready to submit and see this thing. Mike....who just ran out of chill pills

OK, I'm on my laptop at a WiFi place and everything's normal. So, it's something to do with my computer at home. I restored it back to a month ago and that didn't help any. I thought that would fix anything. I don't use my home PC much anyway but it's irritating that stuff like this "just happens". Mike

I use Firefox and have tried IE. I get everything that's supposed to be on the page except the image. I don't feel ambitious enough to try to figure out how to post a screen shot.

I use Firefox, tried IE, and haven't to my knowledge changed anything. I can stay logged into other forums and sites. Mike

I take it back. Maybe I can't stay logged into Geocaching either.
-
Out of the blue I can't stay logged into forums. I'm loggged into Geocaching and Waymarking but not the forums. After five years it's finally happened to me. Mike

Nope, can't see any of them. Mike

When I click on click to view gallery images and go to the thumbnails, the default image is the only one I can click on and view. I've tried it in several different Waymarks. Mike

I'm not able to view any gallery images with the exception of the default image. Am I having a senior moment or is it broke? Mike

Fountains worked for me the next day I think it was.

Missplaced Waymarks
mikemtn replied to mikemtn's topic in Getting Started with Waymarking (Read-Only)
I'm not talking about the state not being selected properly. The selected states, Kentucky and Indiana are where the Waymark should be, it's the waymark coords that are in Tennessee. I think I know what I'm saying. Look here http://www.Waymarking.com/search/results.a...pe=8&rad=50 Mike -
I don't remember how I noticed this, but out of the 18 Waymarks within 50 miles from my home town in Tennessee, one of them should be in Kentucky and one of them in Indiana. I wonder how often this happens. I wonder how many of my Waymarks are missplaced. I know one fat finger in the coords can make many miles difference. Just some of my random musing at 3 a.m. Mike edit: It being 3 a.m I got this here instead of the Getting Started With Waymarking Forum. Maybe the moderator could move it there?

It's happening to me in the Fountains category and I don't like it. There's been a couple submitted to that category today but it won't take mine. Mike

He's been through some trying times in his travels. It's taken many emails sometimes to get him moving again. I don't have a good feeling about him this time. Mike

Quite by accident I just discovered this button. It seems that it is a great tool that allows me to add a Waymark now and save it if I need to get the coords or pics later. Create the Waymark on a rainy day and submit it later on a good picture taking day, but.........it looks to me that the only way to find these saved Waymarks is they have the asterisk afer them in My Waymarks. They are going to get lost there if I have a lot of Waymarks. Am I missing something? Is there a place to see saved Waymarks? Help. Mike

My From Jonjaben Bug has been on the road for about 5 1/2 years and has over 30,000 mostly legitimate miles. He's the 106th TB so he's got some age on him. Wonder how many human years 5 1/2 Tb years is. I'd say he's very old.

They still think they're Geocaches? -
I also reported this auction to ebay. The seller is no longer a registered user.
