  1. I've got one of those from years ago that's about 8" long. Guess it was for a 2 liter. It originally had a metal top that had "vent holes' in it (this was 25 yrs ago) & it leaked but I put a plastic top from the current bottles & it works great, very watertight. I've threatened to make a cache out of it but it's awfully handy to keep stuff in while in my backpack. I have saw them pretty cheap online but don't remember the size.
  2. Here's a 60CSX for $256 after rebate. They just keep getting cheaper. Edited to add plus $14.95 "estimated" shipping.
  3. I can't remember if I saw it or not. I thought the blank one was pretty funny. He could ruffle some feathers.
  4. As of now the site shows 267,852 "registered" users. However you're #321,439 & that was almost 3 years ago so yeah, it would be a guess.
  5. Yea, South Toe is an oldie but I'd be surprised if Ron & Dianne don't have one older. Can't remember, been a few years. There's 2 or 3 other caches close by so you could make a day of it. I think the one in Charlotte was the first cache in NC & placed by a fellow called The_Mariner. Seems he quit & it's been adopted out. I've always wanted to get it too just because of it's early history.
  6. They're about $7 shipped on ebay. If I purchaced it here how much would it cost to mail it to you from US?
  7. I read on another forum about someone buying one made for a cellphone that cost only $1. One found his at a Dollar General Store & the other said he found one in the dollar section of his grocery store. Mileage may vary in your area though.
  8. If you hang around here long enough you'll find a bargain now & then on a GPS. As far as a PDA goes, they would be nice but I'm old school (that reads too dumb to work one ) so I've just been copy/pasteing the needed info into notepad & printing it out. Depending on the caches I can get a bunch of info on one page! Hey, a poor man's got poor ways....
  9. Are you wanting a working unit or one for parts? I've got one but it doesn't power up. Magellan wanted $65 to repair or replace it but I never got around to it.
  10. You wouldn't necessarily do any better with a $400 unit. If the hider's GPS is off the "exact" coords by say 20' & yours is too then you're gonna have a pretty big circle to search anyway. Mine usually shows to be off somewhat but like you said, it helps to know what to look for!
  11. Not trying to start a fuss but my Magellan 330 has been doing this for about 6 years.
  12. You'd probably be better off starting over & buying a different unit. You'll save in the long run plus get a unit with better reception that uses much cheaper cards. I had one too, not just dumpin' on ya!
  13. Here it is for $326.99 with $14.95 shipping so about the same as the others.
  14. Here's another that sounds pretty good. I hope so, I ordered 2!
  15. I no longer have interest in this particular GPS but if I did, I'd gladly purchase yours as a Thanks for your service to our country.
  16. You should contact Garmin. They're known to send a replacement unit for free sometimes. Worth a shot.
  17. When GC.com was first started there were many caches out already. GC8 was one of those as was Mingo. The numbers were not assigned by date placed, but by state. So Mountain Marsh (GC8) was assigned a lower number than Mingo even though Mingo was older. Edit to add Oldest 100 caches Ah, that makes sense. Glad I wasn't making a bet!
  18. This is the oldest one I could find. Edited to add: It has the lowest GC number but it's hidden date is later. Hmmm, why is that....
  19. If at all possible I'd put it up somewhere for a while just in case they do become active again & want it back. You never know how some people will react. FWIW, you're doing a good thing.
