  1. Whats the best way to put waypoints in as POI's in a 60csx. Also is it possible to put a entire track in as a POI. I have a hike of about 100 miles I would like to put the track and certian waypoints into the 60csx without taking up a lot of memory as I want to track the exact route. Thanks.
  2. Thanks roybassist, that helps. I will check out the saved gpx on the card and see whats there. Is the 2GB card not showing any % of use with 17MB of maps etc just to small a % for it register? Also is the number of waypoints stored in the units memory? ... I do have quite a few of them stored. Would be nice if there was a way to force more things to the card instead of internal memory.
  3. Ok, went on a 600 mile road trip. Kept the unit on to track the trip. At the end of the trip (about 100 miles left to go) it quit recording the track. What gives? Do I not have the settings correct to save it to the addon memory card...or does it not save it there at all. Here is what is says under card info, it is a 2GB card: 0% full, 15.5 mb maps, 1.29mb Tracks, .5mb misc, free space 1932mb, Total used 17.3mb. Under the tracks icon in setup I have track log on checked and it says 99% full. Under the next screen (track log setup) Wrap when full is not checked, record is Auto, Interval is normal. Under data card setup I have log track to data card checked and it shows 19 gpx files in the list. Under the maps icon, map setup I have saved tracks Auto, track log auto, track points 3000, go to line as Bearing I want to use it to record various trips (driving and backpacking) I take for saving the routes for later, but if it does record whats the point? Whats the point of the extra space in a 2GB card if it does not record to it. Somebody give me info on this! How to correct it or if it will not do what I want! I really don't want to sit on the phone waiting for Garmin Tech!
  4. Ok, someone please clarify. Last summer I was tracking my backpacking route with my 60csx and it quit tracking...ran out of memory. May or may not have had it set to send it to the card. Anyway in checking with a short route it does not send it to the card, just shows up as stored internally. Does the unit save the route(track) to the internal memory till it is full and thensaves the rest to the card as long as there is room on it? Or should it be saving all to the card when yo set it up 'to save to card' ? I have a long trip planned this summer and want to save our route. Suggestions? Thanks
  5. I emailed them about a year ago about my 60csx being off about 50-100 feet from roads. even sent it in and they sent me another. There response was basically that was the way it was, they won't show right on. Seems to be fine according to topo features though. I learned to just not zoom it in so it showed off the road, drove me crazy tracking as I was driving and not on roads.
  6. Same problem here, sent one unit back, Garmin sent a new unit......same thing with it, roads don't line up with the black triangle while you are driving, about 50' off, drive one way and turn around shows two tracks. Couple of calls to tech support.... they can't answer the question of why....say thats the way it works in showing your location on the Mapsource software. On the NP24K maps however I experience my location almost right on. Findng geocaches just fine with it though.
  7. Tried that. No good. Took a 25 mile drive while tracking. Put one track down.....off the highway about 50 to 75 feet. Tracked back on the same road without turning off the unit and put another track down different than the first on the return. Going to check a benchmark to see next.
  8. Any questions ask or email. I backpack/hike the a lot. Have a trip this fall ... 65 miles up the Lamar to Pelican Valley
  9. If you are still interested. Avalanche Peak...good and steep. Petrified Forest(along the road in Lamar Valley)....good and steep, about a dozen petrified trees. Last I was up there one was about 8' dia. Rabbit Creek....hot pools. Up White Creek (by Great Fountain).....hot pools. Along the firehole upstream from Ojo Caliente hot pool.....hot pools and some of the best mudpots in the park. Fairy falls is better than Mystic. Trail to Queens Laundry has good meadows and strange hot pools. DeLacy creek trailhead to Shoshone Lake. Seven Mile hole, grand canyon of the Yellowstone. Lone Star Geyser. 10. I have the same thing happening with my 60csx. The tracking seems off. Both when you zoom the unit in or when you download the data to the computer (using Mapsource software as well). If I track, like while driving it shows me about 50ft (average) off of the highway I am on. I can seem to find most geocaches, though it shows them off. I sent my unit in and Garmin checked it and said nothing was wrong with it, they sent me a different unit back though. It does the same thing. It is very annoying, my older 60c showed the tracking right on. Called Garmin and the tech said it would read off of a road wouldn't show it right on but I don't think that is right. Anybody have any suggestions???? on fixing this or why it is doing it.
