  1. Thats a bugga i need the area to the east of vegas! going there in 2 days time! I downloaded 'em all... U got anywhere I can upload a copy of the required map for you? Alternatively, if you go the MM site, they direct you to a place you can download calibrated aerial photography of the USA to use on MM. I used this when I was in NY a few months back. Jon. Jon, can it be zipped and emailed?

  6. Hi to everyone in Canada, I need some help from here in the UK. Back on the 14th of September i met up with one of your cachers here in the UK and managed to get a travel bug to him, and he was kind enough to take a TB to Canada for me and release it. Thanks to George D. GeorgeD The TB in question is this one; Secret spy bear Unfortunatly, secret spy bear was picked up in December last year and i believe is in the Victoria area, and despite several polite emails and the offer of a stamped adressed envelope to return it to me, the holder has been less than forthcoming Do any of you know them, can you aid his release? Spy bear is being held by; Junebug555 Hope someone out there can help Thanks Wadders
  7. For all the reasons above, sometimes we dont stop.........................we just slow down a bit and realise that the world is passing us by because we are chasing plastic boxes!!
  8. Mmmm, searched in lots of places for a Mio p550 cradle. I am after the one that the pda sits in and then the cradle attaches to the windscreen mount via 4 lugs. If anyone knows where i can get one, or has one they would like to sell, let me know. I want one so that i can have one in the car and one on the motorbike without having to keep swapping them. Thanks T
  9. Once upon a time a certain person only had Memory Map version 4 and he was given a lot of discs with lots of maps on, he was very happy, but all that happiness turned to sadness when he realised that he could not use those maps because they could only be used with version 5 But out there in the big old geocaching world there was a fairy god mother/father who sent him a special present which made his version 4 turn into a version 5 at the click of a button. Well after many years and lots of use, his poor old version 5 is not very well, and keeps crashing, This is really upseting So the poor old owner thinks it is time to reinstall and start again........but alas...OH No he exclaimed, he only has discs for the old version 4. Will his favorite fairy god father/mother still be out there, will they still be able to help him after all this time, can it happen before midnight?
  10. No, I'm Sparticus! NO! tiz I, I am Sparticus
  11. Mmmmm guess it's a long drive then!!
  12. Stopping talking Dutch man........................wats that mean then
  13. This sounds like a memory leak issue. This happens when a program grabs a bit of memory, but fails to release it, grabs more, fails to release, and so on. Windows doesn't seem to be able to over-ride this behaviour; if you're running Windows, you probably need to reboot the system every few days, or more often if you're doing a lot of stuff, or are using a program with severe memory leakage. Ah, I wonder if leaving my pc on for weeks at a time would do this as it is not very often i turn it off!!
  14. Guys/Gals, i need some help here As you know we are coming over in August and i am trying to sort out our itinerary. One of the things we want to do is to do a particular grand canyon tour, but it starts from grand Canyon airport on the south rim. However i am struggling to find out how to get to that airport, i know that i can drive, but it is 280 miles ish! Is there any other way to get to this airport? If any of you local people have any ideas i would appreciate it. thanks terry
  15. Had the same problem for no reason a few weeks ago!!!! Deleted all overlays/routes but same issue. Mapsource support were "chocolate teapot" so re-installed Mapsource and all OK now? Using Version 5.3.2 Build 1009. Regards Nick (Beds Clangers) Thanks Nick and LIS, i will try them both!
  16. has any one come across an issue where memory map crashes and comes up with "Out of memory"? With the only way to get out of it, is to use the system task manager! I keep getting it on mine, although i may have no PQ's or tracks or anything else on show T
  17. RIP Billy, never met you, but it will be a privilege to find and have a log on one of your caches. My best wishes to your family at this terrible time.
  18. As long as I visit death valley, (i don't mind which part) and do a cache i shall be happy, i will do any caches along the way that are doable, i will have a teenage daughter and the wife, so they will be looking after the car. How long will it take to drive to get there from the strip. We are staying in The Planet Hollywood hotel? Then hoping to pick off a few caches during the week, if "i happen to walk past them" We were only looking to have a the car for a day or two. Looking to do an organized trip to the GC as well. Death Valley is a reasonable day trip, including stopping for a bit of walking around. Basically, 2 - 3 hours each way, give or take a bit. See the map. I'd recommend the Red Route as it is circular so no repetition and allows several roadside caches, including this one Moosecow and a brief stop as you pass Mercury Test Range GCM0EF. If you're in Nevada, you might as well take in a bit of history about nuclear testing... If you want something a little shorter, use the Blue Route, but either way you need to enter Death Valley via the 190 from Death Valley Junction and take the road up to Dantes View to see it from on high before going down into the valley. You can then exit via Badwater GCH657 which is the lowest point. As to Grand Canyon, the choices are a long trip to the National Park 'South Rim', where you get to see how far across it is, but that is an overnight stop to make it worthwhile (almost 300 miles each way). Or, a day trip is the West Rim, where the Hualapai Nation will get their monetary revenge for centuries of exploitation and you get to see the depth, but it's quite narrow. Compare the websites and make your choices. Thanks for that reply, that is really helpful, quite like the look of both routes, for different reasons. Won't be driving to the Grand Canyon, looking to do an organized trip, i would like to go white water rafting We will see.

  20. Hi all, I am off to Vegas and Hawaii in August and of course am hoping to do some caching. Has anyone got some fairly detailed maps of either area? I am looking for vegas/death valley and Honolulu/oahu I want to use memory map if i can. Thanks Terry
  21. For an introduction just drive the south rim and visit the viewpoints. If a hiker then head down the Bright Angel Trail as far as you are comfortable with. If you really want to experience the canyon then an oared-raft tour from Lee's Ferry with an outfitter such as Arizona Raft Adventures (AZRA). Thanks Rowdies, i shall have a look at them via the internet
  22. Anyone tell me the best way to visit the Grand Canyon? I have been looking at the web for some of the tours but am just curious if it is better to wait until we get there to try and book something? Any thoughts? Terry
  23. Guys and gals, i am running a pda, what maps do you use out there?
  24. Yeah, and make sure you have plenty of air in your tires (oh wait, UK, eh? that would be tyres) for the drive to Hawaii. On a serious note, about what time are you going to be in Hawaii? I'm on a short term job here, and may still be kicking about when you arrive. If you want to do some caching or eating, maybe we can meet up. I can assure you that there are some excellent restaurants in Waikiki. -Russ LOL, Thanks Russ, we are getting into Hawaii on the 19th August, looking to get a few caches done and one must do for me is the Earth cache on the north coast. Hoping to have a taste of the local food as well. Terry
  25. Is Hawaii easy to get around on?
