    compass required

also...the compasses on some GPS devices stink... Jamie - NFA
  2. Unless I'm mistaken, I remember you calling people with ALR caches jerks a couple of days ago... I could live with a shift of my ALR cache to becoming a puzzle cache if that would make people happy, but it won't...they will still want to be able to log the cache without having completed the requirement... Jamie - NFA
  3. I don't see any problem with it, but you should check with your local reviewer... Jamie - NFA
  4. I'm opposed to the name "panty smileys" as my wife and I already make use of this term, and my use of, and/or acquiring, said "panty smileys" in another manner, or from other people, might result in legal action or physical harm being visited upon me by the above-mentioned wife...

    compass required

That sounds good, and would cover more situations than my original suggestion... Jamie - NFA
  6. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the same people who are complaining about caches with ALRs will continue to complain about them as puzzle/mystery caches... That argument will still be issued by people who don't like ALRs, regardless of how they are classified... Jamie - NFA

    compass required

this occurred to me today while driving...there are lots of offset and/or puzzle caches that require the use of a compass in order to find the cache container...what do you think? Jamie - NFA
  8. I can write a note for any cache in the world without having met the requirements for the cache...does this prove something about all of those caches? Jamie
  9. I was being facetious...as there is a lengthy debate/discussion about ALRs going on in another thread...I think that it would be a useful attribute. Jamie - NFA
  10. It's not a tactic...it's a direct quote from the guidelines that renders your arguments on the issue of additional requirments obsolete...you don't have to agree with me, or with gc.com, but that doesn't change the guidelines... Jamie - NFA
  11. Do you really think anyone cares about this topic? It seems impossible that anybody would feel strongly one way or another about it... Jamie
  12. Why? A "valid" arument has already been submitted from FAQ that caches do and should bring new elements to the table. So not only is it ok, not only are these caches approved, but they're encouraged by the very community (which by the way you keep insisting agrees with you even though you haven't really proven to me yet) that manages the game. Stick a fork in CR...he's done...he's been asking for a valid argument for pages, and now he doesn't want to deal with it... J
  13. While reading some of the posts in this thread, I got inspired to check the listing guidelines, and... That clearly gives the cache owner the responsibility (not just the right) to delete any logs that do not meet the stated requirements of their approved geocache listing... Jamie - NFA
  14. I think that it would be if every premium member were given the ability to designate 5% of their finds as "Exceptional Geocaches"... TPTB could give geocaches a special designation or icon if: 1) the geocache received either a given number of votes (20, 30, 100, etc.) as an "Exceptional Geocache" 2) some set percentage of finders voted the geocache as being exceptional (20%, 50%, etc.) As Lep mentioned, this has been talked about before, but I think that it would be a really cool feature... Jamie
  15. I think that the bigger reason for not implementing the option mentioned above is that TPTB don't want to be nannies, looking over the shoulders of geocachers while they count their finds... I log my events as attended...some do, some don't...doesn't matter to me what other people do, that's how I want to do it... Since there's no prize for most/fastest/hardest caches found/completed/hidden/attended, TPTB don't feel the need to build more administrivia into the system to make it harder for people to cheat at this game of solitaire that we're all playing...there's no need... If someone logs their own traditional cache as found once, or a hundred times, it doesn't affect me in the least... Jamie - NFA
  16. I'm getting a visual of an argumentative pinata getting pounded into tiny, colorful, pieces of angsty, controlling, crepe-paper and pummeled candy fragments... The topic seems to have been addressed, the positions/points/opinions presented, and it will soon slide downwards towards nastiness... Jamie - NFA
  17. I "attend" my events, and found a cache that I later adopted...outside of those 2 instances, I don't see any reason to log your own caches... Jamie - NFA
  18. aren't there enough articles from the never printed 3rd print issue to make up a healthy "get re-acquainted" online issue? Jamie - NFA
  19. I've placed a bunch of underwater caches, both those that try to stay mostly dry, and those that are wet through and through...I've found a couple of underwater caches as well, and have had a great time finding them! Jamie - NFA
  20. cool...I've been very impressed with the icons that I've seen for new categories, but didn't know how they come about...I was thinking storks and cabbage patches and such... J
  21. Hi, I saw that the other coffee-related category has a steaming mug icon, and was wondering if the same or something similar could be put in place for the new Starbucks category in place of the fork and knife icon... Thanks, Jamie - NFA
  22. I just listed the first Starbucks waymark in the new category... Other coffee stores, even Seattle's Best, should not be listed in this category... I am aware that there are people who were/are not in favor of this category...do what I do with categories that I don't like (or have no interest in)...ignore it... I look forward to finding out about Starbucks locations all over the world with this category, thanks for the positive votes that put this category over the top! Jamie - NFA
