I have used the plastic bags the airlines give out several times. Just drop your bag in, they tape the top and add the tracking barcode. I have never had a problem. It protects the straps and zippers.

I am a newbie too. After using my nuvi for the first few caches I bought an Oregon and use it with my nuvi for street navigation. It works great for paperless caching . It is user friendly and touch screen is very intuitive. The one thing is the screen is dim but you can fix that by downloading a different background profile on www.gpsfix.net. Since I did that I loved it.
