  1. I had a PQ in the queu for much of the day today that hadn't run. It had previously run a couple of days ago. Instead of waiting any longer for it, I instead reworked an older PQ that I hadn't run for months, which did the trick. It ran and the results showed up in my email in just a few minutes. Just had to work the system a little to get what I needed.
  2. In all the various incarnations suggested here, I don't see myself participating in this. I really like meeting geocachers and have met I don't know how many hundreds in the past, so I really don't need additional encouragement in the form of another stat to talk to people at an event or something. Does this really accomplish the goal of making people more social, or building community? Or will it instead encourage people to quickly go from person to person seeking out another +1 to their social find count? How many will be sent off to jump through some random hoop, instead of just talking to someone about geocaching or whatever? I appreciate the idea of having some kind of icebreaker game an an event, but a formal system of "social finds" just doesn't do anything for me and I'm not at all convinced that it does anything to build or strengthen the community. I recognize that I'm in the minority in this thread in that opinion though. If this feature is to move forward my suggestion is to have a limited beta test group to see how it plays out, and to see how successful it is at events or in terms of community building. That would clearly be rather subjective, but I think that's ok...
  3. I haven't been in this thread for several months but I finally saw something I'd like to get since I've been there... Wanted: Original Stash pin. Will trade a geocoin for it. Some coins I could offer would be the GBA faultline coin, RCGDS, 4F's, Illinois 2006, North Carolina 2006, Kansas, Finland, TFTC, California 2005, LIGO, Idaho 2006, Junglehair, DNF (glow version), Cache the Fever, CKayaks, California 2004, South Carolina, USA 2006, Minnesota 2006, an activated (oops!) but unlogged Maryland, Wisconsin 2005, Firefighters 2006, etc...
  4. I'll take the ongoing silence as a "no" and assume that things will continue to go badly here, and let my friends know I've given up hope of attaining any of these coins from the sellers. Please remove my name from consideration of any future offerings.
  5. I agree with the others that said the default zoom level as shown on a cache description page is too great, especially since the map is smaller, at least as I see it in my browser. The zoom level with the old maps gave a better perspective of where the cache is at a glance. Setting the default zoom out a level or two would be my preference. If it were as large as the old maps and zoomed out a level that would be just right I think. I hope that a link to the old maps will remain available someplace, like under the "For online maps..." list.
  6. Is there going to be another run of these or something? Not that I plan on trying again after nothing came of my original order in mid-January(!) because of the Paypal cutoff or whatever it was, but my order was for several people and I want to give them a final status and let them know whether or not they should try to order on their own.
  7. Argh. Respectfully, but utterly, disagree. I really want to see the grandfathered virtuals, earthcaches and webcams stay there. Especially the virtuals.
  8. That's fine. I expected there might be some reluctance for any number of perfectly good reasons. Perhaps more to the core of the matter than users or number of waypoints, are you pleased with how things are going so far?
  9. Any numbers about the size of the active user community? Now that I see the top 25 are resposible for roughly 1/3rd of all waymarks, I'm curious.
  10. Well, I think you were sort of right. Looking at my notification there are duplicate queries for puzzles and multis for some reason, with different coords. I don't recall having added more and don't know why I would have ever made those. *Weird*.... Deleting them will hopefully correct the issue. Thanks for the assist.
  11. This problem continues on and off. It seems that I am missing notifications of new caches within the area near my home where I should be getting them, and at times I am getting notifications for caches that appear near some sort of other coords over 10 miles NE of me. I just received another one of those today. I would like to see this issue addressed ny the Groundspeak folks. Heck, I'd like to have it *acknowledged* after two months. If this post is also ignored, my next step will be to use the contact email.
  12. Yeah, add me to the list of collectors that were driven off by the rip-offs, commercialization, and over-abundance of geocoins. Of course, there are some I paid for last year that I'm *still* waiting for and I still like some of the coins, but for the most part I don't even know what's out there now.
  13. I absolutely agree with what the others have been saying. I liked the prospector side of last year's coin but the collage side didn't come together in a harmonious way and I heard nothing but negative comments about it from many people. Personally, the Nevada coin has been by far the best example of a state geocoin I've seen in a very long time now. It conveyed some of the history and the spirit of the state, melded in geocaching and a touch of humor, the artwork and texture was good and it all came together wonderfully. I really appreciate the Dillon Gang's hard work on the CA coins! I trust that there will ba an exceptional coin this year. Thanks so much for doing this again. Also the reasonable pricing in the past two years means I always buy a LOT of them and most of them end up in caches.
  14. Any word? If it was just me I'd let it drop but I was ordering for four other people as well and I'm sure they'd like to get their coins.
  15. I'm still waiting on confirmation, invoice, anything.....
  16. If you're not careful, Fizzy's going to come along and tell us exactly how long that would take, to fourteen decimal places.
  17. Although intermittent, this problem persists. I just got another new cache notification of a cache NE of me but the email shows it as SW. Could someone please look into this?
  18. My notification emails have sometimes been wrong in the last few weeks. Most of them have seemed fine lately until today I got one that started with: This is an automated message from Geocaching Location: California, United States 8.7mi S (14km S) Krypton published James Lick (Multi-cache) at 2/2/2006 The problem is that the cache is in fact 10.2 miles north of me. I'm not sure where the faulty coords are coming from, but they appear to be the same ones that were used when I first saw this problem pop up after the site upgrades a few weeks back. I don't consider this a particularly serious issue but I'm reporting it because it's definitely wrong.
  19. I'm still waiting for the PayPal invoice for the order I placed about 11 days ago, have they not been sent yet?
  20. I'm not sure if it's related to the new changes but I just received a "[GEO] Notify:" email regarding a cache that had been just been enabled by the owner. The odd thing is that it shows the distance as "2.2mi NW (3.6km NW)", when it is more like 20 miles from my home coords. I verified that my home coords have not changed, and similar "[GEO] Notify:" emails I received yesterday afternoon showed the correct distances.
  21. I like most of the changes, including the ones that seem to have been rolled out as the day went on. One issue - not sure if it has been brought up yet - is the disparity in the font sizes on some pages, probably due to the new style sheets. - A cache description page seems to have a small font for the navigation in the upper right. - Most of the rest of the text on the page seems a size larger. - The text on the profile pages seems a size larger yet. I'd prefer that the font sizes were consistent, at the middle size of the three examples. Sample section of screenshot from cache description showing smaller two font sizes: Sample showing Profile page with largest font size: Similarly, if you look at the front page the fonts seem relatively small for the most part, with the Corporate Team Building section and the Upcoming Geocaching Events using larger fonts for no good reason. Thanks for the changes. Overall they're quite good!
  22. Is that the actual picture of your 4Runner? I'm not normally a fan of picture coins myself but I do like the other side, particularly with the little giraffe...
