  1. I just picked up a Droid eris, I'd love to see an official geocaching app for it.
  2. In some states, it is illegal to harass hunters. Whether or not you were harassing him in the eyes of the law, is not for me to say. Personally, If it had been me, as soon as I saw the hunter, I would have left immediately. Some people geocache in the woods, others ride mountain bikes, and others hunt. We all have to share, and deer season is only a couple weeks.
  3. CO did not know about this other cache. I will hopefully be heading out tomorrow to look for the other cache, and see what the deal is with the micro.
  4. There are some multi's in the area, but this didnt contain any co-ords for another location. Just a stash note about geocaching.com and a blank log sheet.
  5. It had a geocaching.com log sheet, so I assume that would rule out a terracache. I emaied the owner, we will see what he says.
  6. Negative. I am tempted to head back out their soon to try and locate the ammo can.
  7. Yesterday I was hunting a cache, and I got to GZ and found a cache. What I found was a small chap-stick container, wrapped with camo tape, stuck in a crook in a tree. I opened the container, and there was a stash note, and a blank log sheet. I signed the soggy log, and went about my business. I got home to find out that I was supposed to be finding an ammo can! I posted a DNF on the cache, because I obviously did not find an ammo can, but I did find A cache, right at GZ. What would you have done? Would anyone have posted a found it log?
  8. I have a Venture HC, and I would be happy to answer your question, but I dont quite understand what you are asking.
  9. I started a few months ago, and it took me a while to find my first one. Look for caches that have larger containers, and 1/1 difficulty/terrain. When I look for a cache, I read all of the past logs to get clues, and when I am in the field, I look for anything that is different, or "one of these things is not like the other" Keep in mind that once you find a couple, you will start finding them easier and easier. It takes a while to develop your "geo senses"
  10. FWIW, I LOVE my Venture HC. The High Sensitivity chip is worth it! It makes a huge difference under tree cover, in the car, and I can even grab satellites in my office, with no windows! Its great. I do wish I had expandable memory, consider the Legend HCx. I can fit just over one county's worth of maps in the unit (Wake Co. NC).
  11. Pure Awesome. I picked up an HP Jornada 568 Pocket PC on Craigslist today for $30. Added in CacheMate for another $10 and I couldnt be happier. This thing will pay for itself in no time with the cost of paper and ink. Im very very excited about this!!!
  12. I think one would have to prove that the CO is trying to push a religious agenda with the cache, and not just hiding one with a Christianity theme. If he is just hiding it with a Christianity theme, its no different than someone else who may have a cache hidden with a Monty Python theme, or anything else. If the cache is soliciting for a certain church, then it may fall under the soliciting guidelines, otherwise, just being a theme cache, I would think it is just fine. If you dont like it, just put it on your ignore list.
  13. Actually, the various metal platings on some nails can be toxic to trees. But that's not really what matters. If the tree you nail into is ever logged the nails can represent a serious danger to forestry workers on site as well as at the mill. That's the reason. Balderdash! The mills no longer have humans close enough to the blades to allow this to happen. A small nail, say a 16p wouldn't do damage to a sawmill, or the people operating it. I suppose a case could be made for the billion to one possibility but there are far more likely scenarios that are not even connected to nails in trees. Now if you hammer a railroad spike into a tree, thats a different story. and even so, the mills metal detector will find it before it gets to the saw.
  14. All of the Wal-Marts around here recently stopped carrying them, sad, because they sold them for way less than anybody else.
  15. I bought one of the Rubbermaid LnL knockoffs tonight. It does not appear to be of the quality of a real LnL, but it seems like it may be serviceable. Time will tell.
  16. I say go for it. A couple layers of primer/paint and nobody will be in contact with the lead anyways. While lead is toxic to some extent, it isnt the radioactive nightmare that some are making it out to be.
  17. I saw that snake at Target last week and thought about doing the same. You are a sick puppy!
  18. I got mine today. It sure is nice to have a High Sensitivity receiver, Sitting in my living room, I have great satellite reception!!! Great Deal!
  19. sheesh, I was given my first pocket knife on my 5th birthday. I dont see an issue. If it were a big fixed blade bowie or something I would think it was maybe done in poor taste, but not a pocket knife.
  20. I would message them, maybe with a hint. deleting the log of someone so new may turn them off to the game.
  21. I dont need one, I'd been planning on getting a Legend HCx soon, but I ordered one anyways. I hope I like it!
  22. Yes, by old legend I mean momochrome screen, translucent blue thing! Thats good news about the HCx, I will plan to upgrade to one soon!
  23. I am currently using the standard old etrex legend, and i like it, however it takes soooooo long to draw maps that it is painful.I have been considering upgrading to the LegendHCx, but I would like to know of it will draw maps any faster than the regular legend?
