  1. In/near Owensboro by chance? Not too far from there... Waverly. I do like Moonlite's BBQ ham, though.
  2. I'm leaving for Sanibel Island on Sunday morning. Next week I'll be caching on Island Time.
  3. BBQ sounds good. I need some good chipped mutton, but I'm too far North for that. I can't even recommend my favorite place anymore because it burned down and was rebuilt under slightly different ownership and just isn't the same.
  4. I saw that these were on sale at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago. The Best Buy is new, and I wanted to check out their handheld selection. The Out&Back had some error about needing to reload software and was unresponsive. I wasn't looking to buy anything, but if I was that definitely wouldn't make a good first impression.
  5. As tempting as it sounds, I've already had one shelter cache kick my butt multiple times and give me nightmares. I finally found that one after several tries, and it had been found by many others.
  6. If you don't Like my cache, I won't tag you in this photo. I actually heard someone tell their probably 9 month old, "If you don't smile, I won't tag you in this picture." I wanted to puke. I had to forgive her because the woman she was with was quite taggable(and not necessarily on Facebook). Every time I think about opening a Facebook account, something changes my mind. My wife is totally addicted to it. I just have this fear that I'll post some comment on someone's open wall, and it will be viewable by anyone and will come back to haunt me. "We would hire you, but you Like strange geocaches and we found this comment about someone's mother and a goat."
  7. It's getting to the point where I see a small box with a Websense alert on nearly every site I visit. Facebook is blocked, so any hooks into Facebook are blocked.
  8. I finally got to see it this weekend, and really enjoyed it. My wife even thought it was funny. I didn't recognize Galaxy as having been in Transformers.
  9. Unfortunately, it is becoming that way. People who are treated well by their employer seem to care more about what they're doing and take pride in their work. People who care tend to notice things and be willing to say something if something doesn't look right. Once you lose that, it gets to the point where as long as it comes out the other end, stick it in a box and ship it. I've seen some of that pride slip away with all the cuts that have been made. In automotive, the foreign car makers are forcing a certain percentage of parts put in cars made in Asia to come from Asia. As long as you meet their price requirement and have a decent level of quality, everyone's happy. You can get the exact same part built on the exact same equipment here or in China, but the amount of care that has been taken with that part may not be the same.
  10. That Scales Lake area looks very promising as well. I have a feeling I'll probably be spending a few Monday-Friday weeks in Evansville sometime next year and I'll be needing to cut out early and get away a few times.
  11. It seems like I've seen a sign on 164 for Bluegrass FWA. I'll have to check that out the next time I'm in Evansville for an extended stay.
  12. I've definitely got an 8" floppy disk I can spare. I saved a few of them from being trashed a few years ago.
  13. Serious bummer is when you buy a fancy new Garmin and find out you've got to spend an extra $100 to get the detailed routable street maps that come in the box with a DeLorme. I went caching with someone who recently bought an Oregon 450. He was driving to a cache and trying to follow the arrow on his GPS and I started giving him turn-by-turn directions thanks to my PN-40.
  14. You need bigger pockets or a murse. Mine is always either in a jacket pocket or a pants pocket or my laptop case.
  15. I can't download any of my Pocket Queries manually through the site, but Cache Register can. I tried a 1000 cache PQ with it. I expected it to give me an error that the device is full, but instead it gives me the error "The pocket query being added is older than the current version." The status shows as New and the total caches is 1000. Then I tried a <500 cache PQ from a couple of days ago. CR loads that fine. For fun, I tried to load the 1000 cache PQ again thinking that should definitely get me an error saying the device is full. I get the same error as before.
  16. It may be back, but we may have already broken it. I get an Internal Server Error when I try to click on one of my Pocket Queries ready to download.
  17. I guess this is what I get for deciding to go look for some new caches after work at the last minute. I guess this means I'll have to go home and mow the grass.
  18. It could be if I've got multiple PQs loaded. Now it's possible to exceed my device limits with a single query. I'm anticipating someone setting a query to return 950 caches. When it comes with enough child waypoints to exceed their device limit, they'll come back and change it to 900 and generate another query. And they'll keep doing that until one works or they run out of queries for the day. With what I'm asking for, someone could see that they're going to get too many results and fine tune things before generating that first PQ.
  19. When you edit/create a Pocket Query and save any changes, the site tells you how many results the PQ returns and allows you to preview the search results. It would be nice if the site also told you how many child waypoints are associated with the results. I can't look at the exact wording right now since the site is down, but it currently says something like, "Your changes have been saved and your Pocket Query returns 500 caches. Click Here to Preview the results." I would like for it to say something like "Your changes have been saved and your Pocket Query returns 500 caches and 75 child waypoints. Click Here to Preview the results." I can see this being very useful because of the PQ1K change. You may run a query that returns 900 caches but has 101 child waypoints. If your GPSr has a limit of 1000 caches/waypoints, you won't be able to sync this query directly. It would be nice to know this before you generate the PQ so you can fine tune the number of results.
  20. How will PQ1K affect DeLorme's Cache Register? If I run a PQ that returns 1000 caches, is CR going to have access to all 1000 when it pulls the query directly from Groundspeak? The PN-40 has a hard limit of 1000 caches/waypoints. If just one of the 1000 caches in a PQ has child waypoints, CR won't be able to transfer any caches in that PQ to the device. If all 1000 caches are going to be available to CR when doing a direct connection to Groundspeak, was DeLorme informed that this change was coming? At least the workaround for this one is fairly simple... just set the number of results returned by the PQ to something enough under 1000 to account for child waypoints.
  21. I don't know where you are, but Family Video is really not that big or Nationwide. I still can't figure out how they call it Family Video with those little rooms they have in the back though. I may just not be paying attention, but I haven't noticed those little rooms in the back in any of them lately. Two out of three of the Blockbusters in town have closed down, while the Family Videos seem to be doing well and new ones are popping up in much smaller towns around here. They seem to carry some obscure titles, so I thought there was a chance they'd have this. I'm interested enough to pay $1 at Redbox or just under $3 at Family Video. I don't know if I'm interested enough to sign up for an online rental service to see it.
  22. Good luck. But, lost GPSR's never seem to come home. I found a Garmin 60csx near a cache once. It actually made a nice hint since I then knew I was in the right area. It had just enough power left that I was able to power it up and get the name and address off of the splash screen. It turns out the address was on my way home, so I dropped it off within 10 minutes after I found it. Later that day I finally set the owner information in my PN-40 just in case I ever lose it and it gets found by someone like me.
  23. I still haven't seen this yet. Neither Redbox nor the closest Family Video have it.
