  1. Looks like the guy that got FTF didn't care and the second to log even put FTF on his log doesn't seem he cared. Why would the 3rd to find care. Unless the CO changed the description after it published it doesn't seem Heartland Cacher the reviewer cared! And so what if an out of area cacher posted a log voicing his or her displeasure, has that out of area cacher cached in that area or did he or she just happen to hear of the cache and just happen to post a log! Sounds like you should just ignore the cache and move on!
  2. There, I put the word you were searching for in the sentence, above. Also, I cache for pleasure, not treasure. Whether 990 is possible for you or not is a rhetorical question that you've answered by deciding you don't want to do power trails. As to others who have done power trails and have done more than 990 in a day, they know it can be done, and legally. Earlier this year a friend and I did the RT66 power trail, caching only during daylight hours, and had a good time caching. Two of the hours we signed by pen 71 logsheets, the minimum we did was about 58 per hour. An organized group of cachers could certainly do better than we did and at a minimum of 58 per hour they could find almost 1400 caches in a 24 hour day. YMMV, as they say. theres another forum thread that says you cheated regardless of how you logged the series. There are severla other forum threads that say you are the detriment to geocaching cause you supported a Power Trail. There are hundreds that start off with "I don't play the game that way and don't care about those that do but why do others not play the way I do. But really I don't care!" And luckily when those threads close there's hundreds more behind them!
  3. You would proably think my hides were boring! But if I got bored while geocaching for any reason I would find a new activity!
  4. I didn't know what hyperbole was before today the fact it was explained to me in the forums was a bonus!
  5. Really? equating caching on a Power Trail to the "Bataan Death March" How many service men were killed? and you compare it to that even with the problems that the ET Trail had I don't believe anyone was forced to do it and I don't think anyone was killed! That's definitely worse than the stupid cheese head comment! Hyperbole ( /haɪˈpɜrbəliː/ hy-pur-bə-lee;[1] Greek: ὑπερβολή, 'exaggeration') is the use of exaggeration as a rhetorical device or figure of speech. It may be used to evoke strong feelings or to create a strong impression, but is not meant to be taken literally. Hyperboles are exaggerations to create emphasis or effect. As a literary device, hyperbole is often used in poetry, and is frequently encountered in casual speech. An example of hyperbole is: "The bag weighed a ton."[2] Hyperbole helps to make the point that the bag was very heavy, although it is not probable that it would actually weigh a ton. For the millionth time would you stop exaggerating and using hyperbole!!!

While missing my point I guess you don't support the power trail either and name calling, moral equivalence, and hyperbole are acceptable when discussing one's dislike of them, cool got it! Who's missing the point? briansnat's post did not condone or even refer to the aforementioned comments regarding cheese... ball, head or otherwise. He was merely offering his opinion of Power Trails after clearly stating how he knows they have been done in the past. I serioulsy doubt that briansnat really thinks that Power Caching is liek the Bataan Death March. I was merely pointing out that your overreaction to his comments and now extrapolation that I must not like Power Trails either is somewhat misguided. At least I know I was the one that was misguided and not the ones making the comments!

  9. Ok.. Let's do some math. 24 hours = 1440 minutes. For someone to "Seek, Find AND rehide" 1000 geocaches in one 24 hour period, that geocacher would have to be operating at 1 geocache every 1.44 minutes. That's in a 24 hour period folks. No sleep, no bathroom breaks, no FUEL breaks and would require driving, eating and caching in rotations. Theoretically it can be done but I sure as heck wouldn't want to try it. My personal best was not on a power trail, 240 in 24 hours with one other cacher. I think that's good enough for me. No sleep, pee n a cup, bring a full gas can (or park a fully fueled vehicle at the halfway point and switch), eat while others are finding. That is exactly how they do it. It is possible to do because I know people who have done it. No leapfrogging, no container swapping. All anybody has to do is watch the video previously shown in this thread. Repeat that over the course of 24 hours and you can indeed rack up a thousand or more finds in a day. All it takes is the will and an incredible tolerance for monotony. It's certainly not my cup of tea. I love to hike but I doubt I would have enjoyed the Bataan Death March. To me this would be the geocaching equivalent. But as others said here, to each his own. 11. I would be proud to be called a cheeseball cacher if the definition of a cheeseball is logging 900 caches in a day. The most I got on the ET Highway was only 640 in a day! Wait a minute... What kind of cheese, hopefully not Goat Cheese! I might take offense to that! But again that's why I come to the forums to read what others don't like and do the opposite! It's great motivation.
  12. Isn't the favorite voting system supposed to weed out all the poor quality caches?
  13. Read the log from 2/19 it's a hoot I just hope its true! Especially regarding the geopolice! http://coord.info/GL5570GY
  14. Are you suggesting that if they are ok with a marathon, they should be ok with a power trail? Apples and oranges. Actually, further apart than that... more like apples and blowfish. I'd be willing to wager my Garmin that the marathon organizers are required to pay for a hefty police presence for traffic control over the entire route, during the entire time that the event is taking place. Like some I just like to hear myself speak, but you can interpret whatever you wish! Im sure if someone is hit by a car during the race NDOT and the highway patrol will shut it down too. But whether you're geocaching ET highway or running it there are definitely safety issues to contend with. Most of us follow common sense rules regarding safety others dont. It only takes one, two, or a few that don't to ruin it for all.
  15. Dude. I don't even know what you said, but can I favorite one of your caches?
  16. Apparently NDOT and the Highway Patrol have no safety issues with the running of a marathon at Midnight along the ET Highway on August 13th. The run which includes a 10k Half, Full and Ultra race starting at the Black MailBox and on to Rachel. All runners have to wear a headlight and other reflective measures. I was planning on doing the Half Marathon, and then after some rest and if i didn't die of a heart attack doing the Alien head and grabbing the 60 ET caches we missed in November. At least we wont have to worry about those crazy unsafe geocachers. The cows that wantonly run in the road, tractor trailers doing 90 and other motorist are another problem! Hopefully Alien Head is still there. http://www.halfmarathons.net/usa_half_marathons_nevada_et_full_moon_midnight_marathon.html
  17. YAY! Can we also have Virtuals and Locationless Caches back too!
  18. In all reality it won't affect my caching because I will ignore them anyway, I just like the argument and it will be interesting to see where this program goes.
  19. So we can't have locationless caches and virtual caches are grandfathered, but we can hunt for virtual "souvenirs" for which we don't know the location - where's the physical container and log? The continual argument against virts, micros, and locationless stems from uncreativity or lameness or "it's not what geocaching is about" (you know finding a regular size physical container, signing a physical log, and trading if one so desires), how are collecting these different from locationless and virtual? Am I missing something? The idea seems better suited to Waymarking for the same reasons Waymarking was established. I got the 10-10-10 souvenir but don't have a clue how, when (it's dated10/9) or what zone I was in to claim it. I wonder when the arguments will start on the forums regarding lame souvenirs and if people will complain about them as they do lame virts, micros, etc or if it will get a pass
  20. I think puzzles and multis are a waste of time - Micro or otherwise. So we can do away with micros when we get rid of all the puzzles and multis. Wait I don't like to do puzzles and multis but obviously some folks do. I don't usually look for multis or try to solve puzzles and don't include them in my PQs - pretty simple.
  21. Cool a new group in Fresno I never heard of those DryCreek Geocachers. Hope your group Takes OFF!!
  22. a 1000 micro power trail? http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...5a-27c3ce5e9905 I can't imagine (actually it's not hard to imagine) the invective response if the Extraterrestrial Highway was anywhere near Fresno or if a Fresno cacher would have had the balls to place this series! But I promise when I go out to do the ET Power Trail next month I'm going to hold my head down in sorrow due to the distress that 1000 micro caches may put on the elite! Maybe placing 1000 caches 500ft apart over 100 miles in Nevada gets a pass on the forum creativity rule?
  23. I humbly apologize to the geocaching community and specifically fizzymagic for all the "spawn of junk I created in Fresno" I usually go caching and say thank you that there was a cache to find but now I will reflect on how great caching is in other cities and lament that I could have been a better cache owner here in Fresno. Now that I think about it every city I have cached in has way better quality caches than those here. As I remember every cache in the Bay Area any area for that matter -absolutely no light posts or bushes - are all wonderfully executed. I should learn a lesson from you and will never place a bad cache again I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me for my transgressions. I also apologize to my community for the hurt my caches have caused- I will no longer be placing caches as my punishment - I never had a creative one amongst those that I did place. I shall affix to my lapel a Scarlet "G" so those of you out there will know my identity and keep me from harming the community further. Please others reading this also avoid this area at all costs there is nothing good here, save yourselves, save geocaching!!!! To further highlight my shame I just requested the "LAME" tag be added to the list of attributes so it will be easier for folks to edit out my lame caches! Wouldn't want to crowd your PQs! Hopefully you aren't getting any of them anyway!
  24. I agree. But what a great app and probably the only one I would pay for! There is great potential and I can't wait till all the kinks are worked out. When we first purchased the Colorado from Garmin there were lots of complaints about is limitations but many of them have been overcome and we wouldn't cache without it now. So I'm sure there are great things on the way for the app. I just like the fact that I have a phone, camera, GPS, web browser, etc. in one device, the only thing I will need to buy now is a car charger cause I can see lots of battery usage!
