My decision was based on wanting to have as few devices as possible. At one point I would carry around a Garmin handheld GPS, Lowrance handheld aviation GPS, PDA, laptop, and cellular phone. Five devices in all.
Now I just have a PDA (Treo 650), laptop, and Earthmate Blue Logger GPS. The PDA and Blue Logger now combine to be my geocaching GPS, aviation GPS, PDA, and cellular phone. So that takes me down to three devices.
So when I go geocaching I put the Blue Logger in my pocket and carry my PDA, GPS software, and cellular phone (all one device!) Much easier.
Boy am I a nerd! So for the convenience of having fewer devices converting your Tungsten into a GPS might be the way to go. Plus this way I can also connect my Blue Logger to my laptop to generate tracking maps, etc.
