  1. I filled out a quote form on the Lavanda Tours website and have not received a reply. Our group's travel agent said she'd try working with some of her contacts to see if a van can be arranged since interest amongst our group members is increasing. I would just think that trying to use Uber would not work too well if there are 20-30 people wanting to get up to that cache. That's a lot of Uber drivers and I've never used Uber here in the USA. I'm hoping our travel agent is successful in getting us transportation.
  2. Thank you to all who have responded so far! I tried looking at a van rental company and the website froze when I was filling out a form for a quote. I will try the link above and see if that is a good option.
  3. Dear Croatian geocachers! I will be joining a large group of Canadian and American geocachers on a cruise in October. We are visiting Split on Monday, October 22 and there are several of us who would like to find Saint Ivan (GC2499), but it is quite far from the cruise port. Our group's travel agent said she cannot book us a small bus for us (I don't know why), so I am asking if cachers in the Split area can give me some advice on how to arrange transportation to the top of the mountain near Mountain Lodge Malačka and then back to the cruise port. We are scheduled to arrive around 8am and depart around 4pm. So far, there is about 15 people interested in going after this geocache, but that number might increase as we get closer to October. Thank you very much! ~HH19 (Kris)
  4. Thank you! Do you feel that any of the brewpubs would welcome a group? I love trying out the local brews.
  5. I reported the spam message to HQ and promptly received a reply that I did the right thing in reporting it and that they would deal with the matter appropriately. As to money in caches, we have a local who likes to leave $2 bills in his caches as FTF prizes and I have left dollar coins as FTF prizes in my few hides. In my very early days of caching (10 years ago), a cacher would hide 10 caches at a time in a large "treasure hunt" series and the FTF prize was a special geocoin made just for the series with the cache's number engraved on it and it was in its own little treasure chest at a separate location from the cache itself.
  6. Thank you all for your feedback! I would like to report the spam message to HQ, but there is no such option under the 18 topics in the Help Center. I suppose I'll just submit one under the "My Account" category.
  7. I just received a message in the Message Center by someone with zero finds. The message was: "you got a nice profile and i really like your profile and i feel it would be nice to get to know you more better." (The person then left their Yahoo email address here.) " I have something very important to discuss with you privately. hope to hear from you soon." (The person then left a non-geocaching name.) Has anyone else received a message like this? I am not sure what to do about this, if anything. Thanks!
  8. Hello from California! My husband, Papa EGTH, and I will be in Vancouver during the week of June 10 and we'd like to host a meet-and-greet event on the evening of Wednesday, June 12 around 6pm for an hour or 90 minutes. We are asking for location suggestions for such an event. Ideally, it would be within easy walking distance of BC Place since our hotel is near there. Thank you in advance!
  9. I found out about the 2017 Maritime Mega just after it occurred and wondered if there would be another one in 2019. I keep checking the Mega event listings, but I haven't seen this one listed yet. Does anyone know if it will happen next year or not? Thanks and greetings from California!
  10. An example is WMM10A, which is in the category Epic Beings and Creatures (grid address L36). My log and photo are on the WM's page, but it is not appearing on the category grid.
  11. I am currently having issues with my category grid not showing some categories that I have logged as visited. Some will show up on the grid and some do not. I'm keeping track of what's not showing up, but I don't know why some newly logged ones appear on the grid and others don't.
  12. Thanks for the feedback. I don't use any apps since I'm a strict Garmin Oregon user and rarely use Project GC, but it was helpful to hear that souvenir stats are available in those places. It would still be nice if our GC.com souvenir dashboard page would show a total.
  13. Since souvenirs have been out for a while now, some cachers have collected quite a number of them, but our souvenir page doesn't show a total count of them anywhere. It would be really helpful to have a total on the souvenir page so we don't have to scroll and scroll and scroll while counting them ourselves to see if we qualify for challenges that require a minimum number of them. I have over 130 souvenirs, but since they're displayed in 4 columns, I have to scroll though many rows to get through them all. Perhaps our total count could be shown at the top next to the heading Your Souvenirs.
  14. Hi Karhut. I'm American and I don't imagine that you would have much of a problem walking across the border so long as you have your passport and visas (if necessary) with you. It looks like you might be able to do this at Saint-Leonard and Edmundston where there are a couple of trads in Maine right across the border. If you want to be 100% certain that you won't have a problem, I would suggest you contact the US Customs and Border Protection and the Canadian equivalent agency and ask the professionals. ~Kris
  15. Cachers who log that they "attended" events days or weeks before or after the actual event date.
  16. Our meet and greet on June 16 has just published for anyone who would like to meet up with us and strategize the trip to GC25 on June 17! https://coord.info/GC74WAE
  17. I think this thread fell off the map since there haven't been any comments since January and the cache's birthday is fast approaching. We are still coming to the area as planned and hope that other cachers will join us.
  18. Thanks for the feedback! We just added a 3rd cacher to our party and we're planning to rent a 4wd vehicle for the trip. We understand that this winter may have more snow than usual in mid-June, if the weather up there is anything like what our local Sierra has received so far. I may still have a bear (dinner) bell from when I visited Glacier NP years ago and I can wear that on my pack if necessary. I'm usually more concerned about crossing paths with or being stalked by cougars, but hopefully a group of 3 would make that less likely. We are also planning to go after GC26 and GC27 on this trip and since GC27 is deep in the forest, we'll have to be mindful of weather and forest creatures there as well. We're not strangers to old cache hunts failing due to weather. The 3 of us had taken a 10-day trip to the Great Lakes last summer with one of our targets being Power Island (GC35) near Traverse City, MI. We had a boat rental all lined up, but 90 minutes before we were to pick up the boat, our reservation was cancelled due to very high winds on the bay. The winds were in effect the next day, also, and we had to leave without getting to the island to keep to our itinerary. Papa EGTH and I did return later that summer and were able to get the cache after all. As we get closer to the trip date, I will post a note on GC25's page to see if others will try to join us for the final journey to GZ. Safety (and fun) in numbers! We use Garmin Oregons for caching, rarely phones, so reception for caching won't be an issue. I also have a SPOT Messenger for emergencies that I would bring along in case we get into trouble.
  19. My husband, Papa EGTH, and I are planning to visit Camels Prairie Stash on its birthday, Saturday, June 17, this year and we were hoping that we could get a group of cachers together to make the journey from nearby civilization to the cache together via convoy or carpool or both. We live in California and plan to be in the vicinity of GC25 the night before, though we haven't reserved a hotel or finalized any travel plans just yet. I hope this post will plant a seed amongst other cachers planning to visit the cache this year. Visiting an old, remote cache in a group would be a lot of fun (and safer) than on our own. Feedback is appreciated!
  20. I'd like someone from HQ to explain why an odd number of queries won't run properly since that makes no sense. What if someone wanted to run only 1 query?
  21. Good morning! This morning around 9:15am Pacific, I marked 7 queries to run. Four of them ran immediately, but here it is, 2 hours later, and 3 of them still haven't run. Is there an issue with the server? Thanks!
  22. I, too, am experiencing the error mentioned by Circled GBs. It happened just a couple of minutes ago.
