  1. Wow, sounds like you had an exiting time. Will the artefacts be on display anywhere?
  2. What sort of time do you think the hike will finish/braai will start? Two events back to back does sound like an interesting idea, but eagleise and I already have plans and could only make it later in the day.
  3. For the purpose of using a GPSr, it does not matter because the coordinates are not influenced by where North is, however its been my experience that most GPSrs are set to magnetic north by default. This is probably just for historic reasons so that the electronic compass will point the same way as a magnetic compass. But as far as finding a cache goes, I think the declination between True North and Magnetic North is small enough that over a distance of a few meters it would be of little consequence when taking into account the general error in accuracy of a consumer GPS.

    Where am I?

You are both correct, well done. Tara and John got in there first, so over to you.

    Where am I?

The view looks like Postcard on the Rocks, but I don't remember that note in the log roll.
  6. Although voting closed on 31 August, you picked a winner. Yes indeed, the winner for July was again Baja 4X4. Interesting lines and composition. Well done! WooHoo!, thanks again to everyone that voted for Baja Bug
  7. Then to my mind, you should do this as a Puzzle or Challenge Cache Series which would allow the finders to collect clues at the cache(s) which would lead them to the bonus cache.
  8. Surely that's glass? Glass is generally considered a bad idea for caches. Not only is it vulnerable to being smashed if it gets dropped by accident and the resulting glass left at the scene would become an environmental hazard, but also the lids have a tendency to rust in place. Just my 5c worth
  9. Not a big Facebooker myself, but it seems like a good idea to me... request sent
  10. Oh dear... looks like GC's server just fell over...
  11. Wow, that must have been quick. I didn't even see the first version of the changes. Glad they did that, date is much better. I don't personally know anyone not bright enough to figure out about how long ago a date was
  12. Dates are in the top right corner of the logs.
  13. Sounds like it could be fun... and just enough time to make it an event as well, if you are feeling so inclined. Then we can also get a REAL smiley too
  14. You're missing the point. These are not like the other challenge caches, which require you to find several caches in order to find cache. These will no doubt remain as a twist on puzzle and or multi caches for now. These "Challenges" are GCs compromise to the overwhelming request to bring back virtual caches.... the whole concept of which is to not have a container, and are ideal for high muggle areas and or places of interest where hiding a physical container would be difficult if not completely impossible.
  15. By all accounts, it looks like the caves are for another day, as they will most likely be full of water/mud. Mybergs is also a miss, so it seems we're back to the origional plan of up Hout Bay corner and down Corridor.
  16. There seems to be a well defined path to Mybergs. Perhaps someone who has done it can offer some insight as to how tricky it might be this time of year.
  17. Some of us had no intention of doing so
  18. Thought the plan was up Constantia Nek side and down Hout Bay corner? Could do those two on the way up and all meet at the Overseers Cottage. I believe it gets a bit edgy above spilhaus so I'll probably do it another time as a there and back, so will take the jeep track up.
  19. That sounds like a plan... GC22VWQ Pristine GC21WDA Defending the Caveman GC503E Tranquillity Cracks, Twelve Apostles, Camps Bay GC1YXJC Big Head GC124N6 Myburgh's Waterfall Ravine GCWHZR Judas Peak GC111BD Judas Cave GC112PH Hout Bay Corner
