I renewed my premium membership today and also noticed the change to auto-renew.
After paying with Mastercard and receiving the confirmation e-mail, the next renewal date was not updated! (still the old date) So I think there is something wrong with the payment process. I opened a support ticket with no response until now.
So I advice everybody to carefully check all dates after renewing!!

Vorige zomer kocht ik een Magellan Triton 300 in Amerika. Ik heb er nog niet veel genot van gehad want hij geeft vaak foutmeldingen als ik coördinaten invoer. Als ik kijk naar mijn huidige coördinaten (thuis) en ik voer die in voor mijn Home coordinates, dan zijn die op het google maps kaarte ergens in Frankrijk.
Kortom, ik kan gewoon nog niet al te goed met dit toestel overweg.
Zijn er mensen die toevallig in de buurt van Dilbeek wonen en van deze gps iets afweten?
Last summer I bought a Magellan Triton 300 when I was in the States. I haven't been able to figure it out though. When I try to put in coordinates, a lot of times it says Invalid coordinates or something like that.
Is there anyone who has experience with this gps that lives near Dilbeek?
Or just someone who can help me figure this out.
for example, when I put in the home coordinates I read of my gps, it shows on google maps that it's somewhere in France, I have no idea why.

Vermoedelijk heeft het iets te maken met de instellingen van het coordinatenstelsel.
In mijn oude Magellan staat dit in de setup menu / Coord system (primary) op Latitude/Longitude en DEG/MIN.MMM (of met andere woorden, graden + decimale minuten). Dit is de meest gebruikte instelling voor het geocachen. Google Earth gebruikt echter DEG/MIN/SEC waarbij het decimale gedeelte van een minuut in seconden is opgeven (dus 0,5 minuten is 30 seconden).
Verder moet je ook checken dat de Map Datum is ingesteld op WGS84.
Ik zou je verder ook aanraden om een accountje aan te maken op het Belgische geocaching-forum op www.geocaching.be. Hier ga je zeker alle hulp krijgen. Dit Groudspeak-forum wordt maar door weinig Vlaamse cachers gevolgd.

ik heb net een Garmin GPSmap 60CSx gekocht en via de website de cache GC1BNJC kunnen downloaden naar het toestel.
Hoe kan ik het toestel nu starten zodat ik op pad kan ?
euh... ben een echte 'bleu' in Geocaching...

Ik zou u aanraden om naar de www.geocaching.be website te surfen, en u daar op het forum te registreren.
Op dit forum zitten vrijwel alle Belgische geocachers. Daar kan je dan best je vraag opnieuw stellen.
Er wordt regelmatig een dag georganiseerd voor nieuwe cachers, om dan samen met een paar ervaren mensen het veld in te trekken.

Jammer genoeg zijn de twin towers neergehaald...
We zullen een nieuwe schuilplaats in orde maken
hierdoor zal deze cache eventjes offline gaan.
P.S. De TB is niet verloren gegaan de doos
werd teruggevonden...

Briefly, the text says that on a cache maintenance, they discovered that the location was destroyed and that they would search for another location. The box (and your TB in it) was not lost. So that's good news for you I think!

It is indeed something to look at. With the PDA setup as metric measurement, the cartridge instructs to go further for 50 meter, but distance is always shown in feet. It should be possible to show it in meter also.

Een cacher die een TB in bezit heeft kan die ten altijd overnemen, ofwel uit een cache, maar ook rechtstreeks uit "de handen" van een andere cacher die de TB nog niet gedropt heeft (wat hier dus blijkbaar gebeurd is). Op zich is dit dus niet zo erg.
Opmerking: registreer je best ook op het Belgische forum (www.geocaching.be); hier ga je veel meer respons krijgen aangezien maar weinig Belgen het Groundspeak-forum volgen.

Afgelopen weekend was ik in de Ardennen en zaterdag heb ik een TB in een cache gestopt. Tegen dat ik zondagavond thuis kwam en kon gaan loggen, was de TB al uit de cache 'geretrieved'.
De Tb is uit mijn inventory verdwenen, wat normaal is, dus ik kan hem niet meer loggen als 'dropped'. Ik denk dat wat betreft de TB er geen probleem is, maar dit is niet de goeie gang van zaken.
Mijn vraag is; moet ik iets doen (kan ik iets doen), of is alles in orde wat betreft de TB en ook wat betreft mijn profiel, want daar staat de TB enkel als geretrieved en niet als gedropped.
Ik kan me voorstellen dat dit een meer voorkomend probleem is. Als je op een zonnige zondag (=eentje met veel cache-potentieel) een hele dag cachen plant, en je dropt vroeg in de ochtend een TB in een niet al te moeilijke of een goed bereikbare cache, dan is de kans groot dat hij al verder gereisd is tegen de tijd dat je hem 's avonds kont gaan loggen.

This is my first posting so I hope I'm doing this the right way.
Our family is planning to come to Belgium in July to lay flowers on approx. 70 WW1 soldiers who came from our local area of Canada almost 90 years ago. Only problem is I only have 3 days and there are 25-30 cemeteries to visit, & by the looks of it, there are a lot of war cemeteries in Belgium (for good reason), and some of the smaller ones are not that easy to find. I also want to make it fun for my kids by using my gps to have them help me find them.

I'm looking to see if there are geocachers near Ieper and Arras who could find out the GPS location of a number of Commonwealth/Canadian Cemeteries in those areas, just enough to get me to the front entrance. Once I find the exact location of our soldiers, it will be added as a part of my virtual memorial to these soldiers. The GPS location will help others find our boys when they come to pay their respects, I guess you would call it a memorial geocache.
I hope there are some willing Belgians or ex-pats or other geocachers who could help me out.

How were you trying to open it? With what program?
On the geocaching.com website with the overview of pocket queries. Then clicking on the name of the query.
It's a problem with the website, not the result of the query. Strange enough, the query itself runs and gives the expected results, but you can't open the definition of it.
If you copy the query, the copied result gives the same error.

I got a reply from support that the credit card is only pre-authorized and will be charged on the renewal date. I was not on auto-renewal before. So I choose to renew manually, choosing the auto-renewal option (no other possibility). When I look now, auto-renewal is enabled. So when I understand it correctly, they checked my credit card and changed my account into auto-renewal. So it should renew within a week automatically. On the other hand, they have sent a bunch of mails welcoming me with my premium membership... Very very confusing...
I am surely going to check my credit card...
