  1. I haven't used the altimeter yet while looking for a cache, but I like the information it provides while I'm driving up and down the logging roads and 4x4 trails around here. It's kind of nice to know just how high up we are while exploring these mountain lakes. I calibrated it at the local airport and drove home to get the altitude at home. Then I can re-calibrate it each time, before I leave my driveway. ...Terry
  2. 'Main Menu', 'Tracks', then 'Track Log' On. ...Terry
  3. Did you turn the electronic compass on and calibrate it? It has to be on or the GPSr has to be moving for the compass pointer. I believe the GPSr has to be on a 'Active navigation for a route' or 'Go To', check the Compass page options. I'm guessing a option is turned off. Bearing Pointer/Course Pointer? ...Terry
  4. While I was waiting and deciding which GPSr I was going to purchase, I downloaded a copy of Garmin's Mapsource and a fitness program, apparently the fitness program needed to be installed before I could download and install Mapsource. One of the members here provided a link to get these two programs and hope someone will help here with the link again. I downloaded Ibycus Topo Canada and think it is a great map, but I believe you do need Mapsource to send it to your GPSr ...Terry
  5. I would recommend you get the DVD copy of CNNA 2009, not the sd card. The sd card limits you to having only one map at a time in the GPSr. Changing a micro sd card is a pain in the rain, on the trail or in a dark location. ...Terry
  6. I have the 60 CSx and started with the Ibycus Topo Canada map. I later added Garmn's City Navigator North America NT 2009. I really like the Ibycus map. The information is more to my liking, it shows and names more lakes and streams and the map is better looking than the CNNA in my opinion. The streets in my small town are more accucate in the Ibycus map (more up-to-date) than the CNNA. I use the CNNA for it's auto-routing and helping me find the Points of Interest (nearest Tim Horton's) when I'm on a road trip. I feel I need both maps, but the Ibycus map is the most used map for my purposes (Geocashing, exploring logging roads and 4x4 trails). ...Terry
  7. I have a 60 CSx with City Navigator NA and Ibycus Topo Canada. When both maps are turned on, the CNNA is on top and hides the Ibycus. I have to turn off the CNNA to use the Ibycus. It's the nature of the beast. ...Terry
  8. Thank you, thank you! I was sooo close, I just didn't 'menu' the 'map setup information' menu. It was the missing link I needed. This allows me to hide or show all Ibycus Topo maps at once. Thanks to all. Terry ;-)
  9. I have been using Ibycus Topo 2.1 (Canada) with a GPSmap 60 CSx. The area of British Columbia I am interested in requires 48 maps to be selected and copied with Mapsouce into the 60 CSx's sd card. I recently added City Navigator North America NT 2009 (which is one map for BC) and have both CNNA and Ibycus in the 60 CSx. When I want to turn off or on either map, the Ibycus maps require turning on/off 48 maps on the Setup map menu. It is a bit of a pain to select 48 maps one at a time. It would be great if I could turn on/off all the Ibycus maps at once. The CNNA has only one map to turn on/off. I could be wrong, but the Ibycus map appears to be hidden underneath when the CNNA map is turned on. Is there a way to combine the Ibycus maps that I use into one item to turn on/off? Thanks for any help, Terry
  10. I think you would be better to get a map on DVD, you can copy the parts of the map you need and combine other maps to a sd card as needed. If you get a pre-loaded sd card, you will have to change cards if you want to change maps. I started with a Ibycus Topo map of Canada (a great map!!) and loaded it onto a sd card, later I purchased City Navigator North America NT 2009 and loaded both maps onto the sd card. This was on a GPSmap 60CSx. ...Terry
  11. Choose and download the ibyscus map as a zip file. Save it to your harddisk in a temp directory, un-zip this file and it will create another directory and place a few files into this new directory. Then run the newly created setup.exe and it will install itself into your Mapsource program. This is the method I used to get the Canadian topo map, this is a really great map! ...Terry
  12. After downloading the zip file, un-zip the file, run the setup program that is un-zipped and it will install the files into mapsource. Then run mapsource and you should be able to select Ibycus as your map. ...Terry
  13. I save a text file to the Notes directory on a Ipod Nano 2nd generation for each geocache. When viewing the cache page on the Geocaching site, click on the- Print: simple, then click- Page: Save as, choose- Text file (*.txt) and the file is saved to my harddrive with the cache number. Be sure to enable the Ipod for disk use and then copy all the txt files to the Notes directory to the Ipod. I've been trying to use the Notes feature on my Keybo cell phone, but I haven't been successful yet. ...Terry
