  1. Hey TeamAv8r, I'm currently flying a 152 with my student pilots permit. Vision minimas without glasses/contacts for a commercial medical has concerned me, do they let you have laser eye correction? In the Canadian medical requirements it dosn't state if you can have laser eye surgery.
  2. I live in Central Alberta. I can't pick up WAAS in my area, but if your move farther down south it will. The ground satelites are all in the USA so the closer you are to the states the more likely you can have WAAS capabilities. GPS without WAAS is still quite accurate depending on what your doing. I use my GPS for flying also, and 20 feet dosnt make a lot of difference.
  3. I own a Etrex Legend and Metro Guide Canada V4 Metro Guide is very easy to use. Memory is not a big issue with the Legend unless you are needing detailed mapping for a large area. I only load the maps I am planning to use. You can load the majority of Nova Scotia on the Legend. If memory is a concern purchase a Vista. Metroguide is extremely helpful when making trips to larger cities where you don't know your way around. Heavy traffic, and no where to stop and look at your map to see where you are. You can type an address in your GPS and it will tell you it's exact location. I've only been using GPS for a couple weeks and I couldn't believe how many things I could use it for. I even used it for math homework.
  4. I have a Garmin Legend, and whenever I push down on the click stick many times it won't do ne thing unless I let go and push harder down on it. Has anyone else had this problem?
  5. Ram Mounts have vibration protection unless it's a Snap Link system.
  6. GPS City does not have a show room btw.
  7. I don't own a Lowrance but what are your 2 cents on the Lowrance IFinders? Are they better than the Garmin ETrex Series and Magellan Sportraks?
  8. I own a Garmin eTrex Legend. It has been working quite well. The downside is it takes awhile to find satelites. Magellan SportTraks have lit keypads, Garmin dosn't. But since Garmin has the buttons laid out on the sides it's easier to memorize what buttons does what. So their isn't really a need for them to be lit. garmin eTrex units are also very durable. They can take a beating and still work. I also like Etrex over SportTracks because they don't have a big hump sticking out the top. But I guess the hump is probably for the built in antenna, and it gives it a advantage over the Etrex for finding satelites and working better in tree cover. The basemap for Garmin units are alot better in Canada. But the basemaps for Magellans is better in the US than Garmin. The Garmins are also more affordable. So if you live in Canada I would get a Garmin, if your live in the US get a Magellan.
  9. GPS Central is a great store btw. I was very happy with the service
  10. Is Garmin or Lowrance better for mapping detail in Canada? I recently bought a Garmin eTrex Legend. I'm satisfied with the detail it has for Canada. Does anyone here own a Lowrance I finder, or I Finder Pro?
