  1. If we're talking camo tape, I like this stuff. I like the idea of bags made from weed control stuff though.
  2. He apologised and said "I will do nothing hasty". He didn't say he wouldn't do anything, just that he wouldn't be hasty about it. I'm guessing this is what counts as "not hasty".
  3. They may serve no true purpose but archiving them is a bit joyless.
  4. I've just read this - good article and it even manages to point out that they can't be buried
  5. Given that all the caches were archived in petulance, why would you seek to reinstate a sidetracked one and why would you be asking permission which, surely, you had when the cache was originally listed? If not to cause trouble?
  6. Agree with this. I often read the first howevermany logs are displayed on teh cache page when choosing what to do.
  7. I've had fast stuff from DealExtreme, really slow stuff and stuff that arrives somewhere in between. I'm kicking myself as I have an order on the way now but now realise I forgot to add magnets to it. Bah!
  8. I once helped find a cache from looking at a photo from the cache page. A friend was looking for the cache and couldn't find it. I sent her 3 suggestions by text and one was right. No, I didn't claim a smiley
  9. I don't get it - did you pick up other people's TBs from caches and keep them until you had what you thought was a complete set?
  10. He already has a cache in the shed, so I guess that there are no new issues. Other than proximity. Unless his shed is really, really BIG. Around 528 feet long I guess . Or, of course, he could simply archive the existing one I suppose...
  11. Cacher dies after being crushed to death by an avalanche of film cannisters! A participant in "geocaching" was crushed to death yesterday when he opened a shed door in search of treasure, only to be greeted by a falling wall of 35mm film cannisters. His caching partner said "It was a complete shock. We knew there were a few but weren't expecting so many. I carried on and found the one with the key so I could sign the log. Then I called an ambulance but it was too late..."
  12. It was a great idea, thank you for creating it and organising it. Nice to have decent size cache containers too . I think it should be done again. How about a HUGE container with 500 peach jars inside it so people can take one.... I'm sure I've come across a similar idea recently..... Chris (MrB) I'm feeling slightly nauseous at the thought of eating all those peaches!
  13. The spawning idea I like. Spending over an hour searching through 4000 film cannisters to sign the log? Naaa.
  14. I've found a TB tag which had lost its traveller in similar circumstances. I contacted the owner and then, when I'd had no reply, attached a traveller which had the same sentiment as the original and set it on its way.
  15. marry me please hehehe. Won't your wife have something to say about that?
  16. I look forward to it being the first ever cache on my "ignore" list.
  17. If only finding ammo boxes were that easy. Sometimes you don't have that option - certainly the local army surplus store can't get hold of them. Hasn't stopped me placing "real" caches though.
  18. <<strokes packet of fire tacks lovingly>> Sadly I too have a night cache planned for them. The ones I have are covered in this tape (I also have a reel of this and the yellow version bought from this site). I see no reason why you can't tack small squares of tape to a tree with just a small tack, no need to make a proper pin (although this would be a flat surface, not 3D like the proper tacks). I wonder if you could use cable clips - cover the plastic hoop with the tape and off you go.
  19. As others have said, not receiving the emails in some way is a really bad idea. You need to know when people have DNFed it - if it happens on an easy cache I'll check it asap, a more difficult one I'll wait and see if someone else finds it. I've got 30 caches and I'm never inundated with excessive emails - all geocaching mail is directed to a Geocaching folder anyway. If you can't handle the emails, you can't handle the work of maintaining a cache and therefore shouldn't hide any.
  20. Yes, are you offering a reverse option where you take Disreputable Dogs out caching and return them as well trained Geo Dogs? Actually, mine is a fully trained cocker Spaniel with a keen nose for plastic. Pull his ears to programme in the coordinates and he's snapping and snarling at your hands off and hunting. does it have a logging facility? sorry, couldn't resist! Naturally. Very naturally.

  22. That's what I do. I made a MS Publisher file which prints 3 small logbooks at a time. Just staple and cut. I do that too
  23. Only the sort of scoundrel who would watch from the dry warmth of their office while cachers scrabble around in pouring rain, examining the walls, floral troughs, windows... MrsB I wonder if the neighbours would notice if I set it up outside my house...? I never thought of the entertainment value. Better than TV.
  24. No, it's not an actual downpipe. Its a left over length of actual downpipe which is being out to a far more entertaining use *takes notes* Taking notes won't help you. Mwahahahaha! Thanks for all the suggestions. I will investigate them all. Having googled preforms, some have made me wince look far worse
