  1. sounds like you might be having some other problem; maybe hardware or your OS? Maybe time to defrag or reload windows? I just got my PN-40 last thursday and was able to load aerial imagery, create maps, and waypoints, and download them to my PN-40 without a hitch. Still have more to learn about Topo 7, but wow what an amazing program! I love it. You might try loading directly to the SD card through a reader, I think it's even faster like that.
  2. as a new cacher size doesnt seem to matter to me. Ive been following the caches on my GPS without even bothering to read the logs or desciption. lol. just been going to it and finding it. lol. might feel different after I find more. only 7 so far. lol
  3. might be a geocacher if you have all the pills bottles in your medicine cabinet logged as caches with GPS coordinates.
  4. If they pass any kind of law regulating geocaching, that will bring us one step closer to a complete Idiocracy. If ya haven't seen that movie, watch it, and you'll see what I mean. Laws regulating geocaching? That's downright unamerican!!!!!!
  5. never mind. it's working now. sorry to noob up the forums here.
  6. just ordered mine. can't wait to get it and start rockin the PN-40 and geocaches will the lot of you. glad to see theres plenty of willing and helpful people here, because I've never operated a GPS in my life. lol. I am sure I will be here noobin it up with 100 questions as well!
  7. in addition, when you click the "contact us" button and try to submit a message, it will not let you. Just a big error page pops up. problems galore.
  8. Howdy folks.. new cacher here. Everytime I try to register on Texas Geocaching.com it kicks me back saying the authroization code was entered incorrectly. I've done it enough times now that I am 100% positive I am entering it correctly. Is the site down, or problems with the registration program? please help. Thanks.
  9. What about placing a cache far away from your home if it's in a place you visit once or twice a year, or more in some cases. For instance, I live in Texas, but we go to the area near Creede Colorado every summer and occasionally the spring or fall. Also, we have property in Oklahoma that we go to on the weekends about 20+ times a year. Would placing caches in these areas be acceptable?
  10. seems hard to get lost when you have a gps to guide you home. hehehe
  11. another noob here just reading forums and learning about geocaching. Did I understand correctly, when you submit a cash you have to give your home coordinates? That seems kinda creepy, posting your homes location on line. PLease tell me I am misunderstanding. IF I have to give my home coordinates, I guess I will never get to place a cache. lol
  12. trying to select a GPS to buy.. it is quite a conundrum!
  13. just another newb here following this thread and trying to deside on a unit myself. Mostly I want paperless geochaching, as well as accuracy and ease of use. NEver even heard of these delormes before. want to get a unit, a good one, and not have to upgrade next month when i realize I didnt get the one I should have. So far have been looking at Garmin Colorado, Garmin GPSMAP 60 CXs, and Magellan Tritons. Some claim to be capable of paperless cahcing, and others people say you can make them work with software. This thread has only served to confuse me more. lol. Would love to hear from folks that have used these units and how good the paperless caching works and if it is easy to enable.
  14. i thought only the garmin's were compatable with the geocaching profiles? Hows it work with a magellan? i'm such a noob. lol
  15. You can have the hint on your 60CSX. POIs have an 80 (I think) character comment field. What some people I know do is load the cache waypoint twice, first as a regular cache waypoint, then again as POI. Using GSAK they load the hint into the comment field. Sounds complicated but once you have it all set up it's only a few mouse clicks each time you load caches. Is there a tutorial posted anywhere on how to do that with the comments and caches? Including getting GSAK? thanks guys
  16. Sorry to noob it up here, but I need help. I would like to get a nice GPS. The last thing I want is to start with a cheap model only to find out I need or want something better 2 months later. After hunting on Ebay and some window shopping, I have narrowed it down to 3 models. Garmin Colorado 300: Seems like it does what I would need. But the dial control over the screen looks awkward from the photos. How comfortable to use is it in the real world? Garmin Colorado 400T: looks like the 300 with 3d maps and preloaded maps. is that worth the added cost? anything else different about it? Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx: This looks like the one for me. Is it as nice as the pics and the description? does the colorado outperform or do anything this one cant do? any insight you guys can give will help. I need to buy one soon! It's hard trying to find caches without one. lol
