Ouch, that's almost a non-starter for me then if I can't push the map detail to my Magellan GPS then. EasyGPS and/or ExpertGPS will give me the .gpx and .loc support too. Yet another application to keep track of. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the input. Desert Warrior stated that BRE and TOPO are the same with just different map data detail. That's interesting since BRE is [apparently] the whole US for $59, and TOPO is per state, for $99. Must be some reason they're market different. And, I wanted to confirm that BRE does let you upload the detailed maps to your [compatible] GPS, not just waypoints? How about dealing with .gpx and .loc files? Thanks!

I'm looking at National Geographics Back Roads Explorer package, wondering who's had experience with it. I have the MapSend Streets & Destinations US software from Magellan, not impressed. Appears to be several years out of date, and often I appear to be driving off in the field (according to my GPS). I'm hoping National Geographics would be more up to date, and can stay current. I was also looking at ExpertGPS. That adds a bunch of import/export and track/route/waypoint management functionality, but the topo and sat images it pulls are also out of date. Both are comparable costs right now. NG's Mid-Atlantic TOPO looks interesting too, and covers the immediate states of interest. Pretty costly if you travel far from home!

Yup, I just got home and took a good look at my SporTrak Color, compared with earlier SporTrak Pro pictures from Robree and I can see what you are all talking about, yuck! Hopefully the color won't have it's own series of problems.

I've read through the thread and seen lots of references to Magellan SporTrak Map and SporTrak Pro units, don't recall seeing anyone say they found cracks in their SporTrak Color? What's the target case mfg code we think the problem has been fixed after (if it really has)?
