  1. My vote is for Max Cacher! Quick to review a new submission, fair with his decisions, he does the game proud, and I'm honored to have worked on a recent CITO with him. Haven't had any dealings with the other reviewers, but he'd be hard to beat!
  2. Set up a 12 step- program, e-mail me the coords. Can I log attendance as an event find?
  3. I refer you to my 12-step program thread...
  4. I love It, C.S.G.! Don't forget when you address the support group have your head hung down , avoid eye-contact with the group- especially the facilitator- and when giving your name, use your "real-life" name-not your caching alias . All attendees will be checked at the door for GPS units...
  5. Thanks, Kayakanimal- that's not exactly in my back yard, but I appreciate the idea!! There is one geocache here that is dangerously close to the state mental institution- (WHAT IN BLUE BLAZES) as I was looking for it, I got VERy suspicious that it was a trap for addicted cachers- turned out to be innocuous...
  6. I can see I've come to the wrong place for help... sounds like leaving the fox in charge of the henhouse, robespierre
  7. Just wondered if there are any 12-step programs in the Tn area for geo-addicts; if anyone knows of one, please e-mail me the coords Also would like to know if attendance @ one of the meetings can be logged as a find. I am asking for a fellow cacher- he knows who he is
  8. Yes, folks, it is hard work but it's also some of the most fun I've had in years. There are already several caches hidden in various segments, and a couple of the geocachers that are working on the trail with me have discussed (in general terms, nothing definate yet) the possibility of a 10-15 stage multi-cache along the entire trail corridor. There's only a few days left on this year's Big Dig, but next year we will be back for another 6 weeks. In the meantime, keep watching the Cumberland Trail's website (especially the activity page) for other trail building (and geocaching ) opportunities.
  9. My nemesis cache is a georock, in among the riprock along the banks of the Tennessee River. I have gone three times, picked up rocks and shook 'em (@ 0600 in the A.M., before joggers and strollers come out) I had to quit each time because there were too many people starting to appear, and I didn't want to have to explain my actions to the park police...
  10. Has anyone ever been in the compromising position of having to explain to police or other law enforcement( rangers, deputies, security persons) just what you are doing while looking for a cache? I work 3rd shift, so often stop to look for caches on my way home @ 0615/0630, while it's not quite all the way light out. There are times I think that if police drove by, I would certainly be suspicious looking, crawling around, turning rocks over or groping signposts/ fences, etc. Just wonder if anyone has been spied...
  11. Add one more female to your count. I got started geocaching in February, and have been hooked since day 1. hard to explain to a geomuggle why a grown woman is caching in the pouring rain, or poking around cemetaries by flashlight trying to read tombstones to answer questions on a virtual.. I got started geocaching with a fellow volunteer "trail mule" from the cumberland trail (Minner). He went with me the first time and we found 5 that day. I couldn't wait to get back out on my own wth my trusty little e-trex vista.
  12. Fellow cachers, this is where it's at!! A new segment of the Cumberland Trail is being completed as we speak, with lots of beautiful areas for both real and virtual cache sites ( just make sure you get the rangers approval before hiding 'em) Come join us on the Big Dig 2 (check out the website @ cumberlandtrail.org-click on the Big Dig page) Only a few more weeks left to go, so take advantage of this opportunity! Hope to see lots of the geocaching community out here helping!!
