  1. ty leprechauns, like i said before...i know i sound really stupid, but we are still new to this & since we had seen others we thought'd we'd see about setting 1 up ourselves. Thank you for your answer!
  2. tyvm Res & Mopar Res- Just out of curiousity (sorry to be so stupid to this...we are new) how would we create a traditional cache on a vehicle & welcome logs from other places that show the same thing? Let me try to briefly explain what it is we were thinking of using. My husband works for an auto. dealership & was thinking it would be interesting to ask people to find the service vehicle for this particular co. & have them take a picture of it & their GPS (in the same pic) & then let us know what city & state they're in. Does that make any sense???
  3. We want to set up a locationless cache but when we went to the set up cache page locationless isn't an option. Can someone please tell us how to do this??? Thank you in advance, JMAbbott888
  4. We want to set up a locationless cache but when we go to set up a cache there isn't an option for locationless. Can someone please tell us how to do this??? Thank you in advance, JMAbbott888
  5. Perrin--Redundant??? how so??? lolol. We believe it is an actual geocoin because it says www.geonickel.com on the front & www.geocaching.com on the back. *slapping forehead* now....I didn't pay attention to the www.geonickel.com address till I typed it in here Sorry for the inconvience. I will go there & hope to be able to log it there. Thank you again Perrin!!!!
  6. Perrin--Thank you very much for the info., we are going to give it a few days. From reading back on the TB itself, the people who left it in the cache must be traveling north because they haven't logged that they found it yet either .
  7. Tonight we found a cache with a TB in it (it had only been placed less than 3 hrs earlier). It hasn't been logged in yet that it was left in that cache. Do we need to wait to log that we found the TB & wait to log the find on the cache? Sorry, but we're still new to this & are not sure what the proper protocol is. We would gladly appreciate any help with this. Thank you in advace
  8. Tonight we found a GeoNickle in a cache & were wondering if we log it like a TB. If so can someone please tell us where we log it at =o). Thank you in advance for any help given
  9. We got a Magellan sportrak for $145 out the door at walmart. This is the yellow one not the map sportrak, it doesn't show maps but it does have waypoints, routes & a compass. We use ours alot & it seems to work great. hope this helps
  10. From a hunter to the cachers, from what I've seen I'd much prefer to run into a cacher than a tree hugger/anti-gun/anti-hunters anyday. From what I have read about you guys (I'm still VERY new lol) you guys don't want to be seen so its not a big deal if you come across me while I'm hunting but the others I mentioned can be a real pain in the butt & interfering with A hunter in the state of cali is illegal according to the fish & game. This is for those that see hunters & purposly scare off game & interfere with a hunt NOT running into a hunter & moving on.
  11. Team 360, it would be a Ruger 45 in my case not a Colt lol. Only reason I carry it is cause I don't like snakes, lions or boar. If they leave me alone or give me a chance to leave I will, if not that 45 barks LOUD !!!!! If anyone finds me caching in all seriousness I keep the pistol hidden so you won't even know I have it.
  12. sbell--I'm not sure who it was nor do I really care & I wasn't trying to stir up more trouble...I was just trying to make a point...that just about anything can be considered "dangerous" in 1 way or another
  13. GEO-JOE--Thank you for the idea. I was thinking of doing that too, but I am afraid the gardeners will find it by mistake & throw it out (it would be my luck that the 1 time they pick something up & throw it out would be my cache) lol.
  14. Renegade--I agree. I don't personnally work in the prison system but know people that do & have heard horrible stories about what can & does get used as a weapon.
  15. We're still very new to geocaching & learning the ropes. I read the guidlines & I was/am of the understanding that they are ONLY guidlines...NOT RULES or REGULATIONS!!!! Also, on every page for finding a cache there is a link to http://www.geocaching.com/disclaimer.asp. In this it says...[/b]Cache seekers assume all risks involved in seeking a cache. Also, when you make the pages print friendly & print them up, on the page it says....You assume all risks involved seeking a cache. By using this printout you agree to the disclaimer posted at http://www.geocaching.com/disclaimer.asp. Plus I am reading so many people have a problem with swiss army knives & yet they aren't saying a word about the bullets left in the caches. Granted they can't be used right then, but who's to say a child isn't going to take that bullet home & put it in an empty gun that their dad left sitting ontop of the dresser unloaded for safety??? Or the chalk sticks that a child can "inhale" the dust off of, or the bouncy balls that can bounce & hit them in their eye, or the jacks that can poke them in the eye, or the change that can be swallowed. In my opinion (not that it's worth much), the parents need to teach their children what is expected of them in this issue just like they do w/teaching them how they expect them to behave. Also it comes down to common sense. We keep anything our children get from the caches until we get home. At that point the parents can say give or not give the items to the children to use at their own freewill.
  16. Jaime--I don't think my front porch is interesting at all. I just thought this would be a neat way to meet other cachers. We are new to geocaching & don't have the experience or $ to get out a lot or far away.
  17. Renegade, I never thought about that side of it, now I got something else to think about.
  18. Thanks for the history lesson to a newbie, I knew there was a reason to browse all the posts here.
  19. Wander Lost--We don't have a FRS radio yet, but that is something we are looking into & the thought of meeting other cashers is what made us think of the idea =o). Quills--Our complex is very small & does not have security or even gates...access will be very easy. Downy-- thank you for the link =o) Richard--It would be on the front porch & my husband & I are up early & stay up late 99% of the time so the off hour cachers wouldn't really throw US off...lol. PLUS hubby said it wouldn't be a shotgun it would be a 45 lol just kidding. Baptist--thank you for the information we might try that =o) SB--that's a good idea on the time limits...have to think about the times though =o). Also, there is an easy way to tell my apartment from the rest (but of course that will come in the coded part) hehehehe.
  20. Thank you for your input, I would include the coordinates & let them know that there's 2 chairs on my porch or something to that affect so they don't go to my neighbor's porches lol
  21. I thought it would be fun & interesting to hide a cache on my front porch. I live in an apartment complex & know that it would be ok. I was wondering what all of you nice people think of the idea. I'd appreciate any feedback you have on this thought. Thank you in advance
