  3. I have never had a bit of trouble with my Legend HCx. I am in the process of manually entering coords for a GPS Quest in a state park. I can enter the N coords fine. And the W coords, Except the unit will not let me enter a "6" as the first digit in the middle position. It is so strange!! Example: W 085.__7.284 It will not let me enter a 6 here. It will let me enter the digits, 1, 2,3, 4,or 5--but not the digits 6,7,8, or 9. Any thoughts???
  4. Question: Can I count a cache if I found it, but was unable to sign the log due to muggle activity?
  5. CITO bags sunscreen pens cell phone GPS insect repellent swag geocache containers I tried to post a picture, but if I didn't do it right, the bag is an Eastpack daypack, yellow. Thanks Yea!!! After some sweat and tears (no blood), I finally did it!!
  6. Speaking as a newbie (26 finds--0 hides), I would never complain about a cache, at least not yet. I just assume that the hider knows a whole lot more than me, therefore the error is mine, not his, on a DNF. I have searched for some caches on 3 seperate occasions, finally to find them. When I DNF, I go home and think about the spot, revisit the logs, and think some more. I am still not quite ready for my first hide, but I am looking at spots in my area. I want to make it a good one, with something good for FTF. I love caching and I want everyone else to love it also.
  7. Well, after sleeping on it, it came to me as I was getting ready for work. (I am not the sharpest crayon in the box in my old age). The trail map and the ibycus map OVERLAY the base map. They are transparent and OVERLAY it!!! Eureka! Thanks for putting up with my feeble-minded question! Ozmom
  8. You need to go to your setup menu and then select Map. From here you can chose which one to display. This is found under information. It actually has both being shown but one will overlay the other one. Thanks I did what you said, but the map that shows always says 'basemap' at the bottom of the screen. I must be doing something wrong.
  9. On my Legend HCx, I have the base map plus a map from Ibycus and a trail map of a local state park. My question is: How do I choose which map I want to show when I turn on the gps? Thanks for any/all help. Ozmom Yikes!!!! Triple post.!!!!! Screwy computer!
  10. I don't like front yard caches---like another poster, I feel like the house is watching me and I don't want to have to socialize. I would NEVER look for power69"s cache---100 ammo cans with someone watching me???? You've got to be kidding. I love geocaching because I don't have to talk to people if I don't want to...and I usually don't.
  11. That was a great question! I am new and had been wondering if it was playing by the rules to revisit a cache. I found a great one that had lots of travel bugs and I would like to revisit it every now and then to see what's new. Thanks!
  12. Hi--My family is new (x1wk) to gc'ing & I am addicted. We found 6 caches using a nuvi 200 and an i-phone. I am having withdrawal symptoms while waiting for my gps to arrive. Would someone please recommend what maps for a Garmin Etrex Legend HCx? Thanks Ozmom (trying to interest Ozdad)
