  1. not working for me- I've updated the App, logged in and out, tried on the website, ticked the Adlab filter?
  2. Is there a result table for the duck race?
  3. This doesn't appear to be working- I get a completely blank map, when this isn't the case?
  4. So I've used the drop down menu in GSAK and it says I've successfully renewed my access token, but I still can't access Geocaching.com; I'm using Chrome, not Firefox? HELP! OK, it was my firewall blocking access, so had to authorise that- success!
  5. Sorry if this has been answered, but my friend and I have both found lab caches; she has an icon, but I don't??
  6. Sounds like a new problem to me.. Usually the flash memory of the GC is very stable.. What firmware version do you have? (shows while it is booting up when you turn it on.) The only place I know, in most of the firmware versions (1.5 to 2.15) is only by going to the geocaches selection from the main menu, then pressing Menu from that page, and scrolling down to 'Delete All', It's hardly an automatic function. Sorry the firmware flashes past too quickly when I boot up; its software version 3, GPS version 4.5.
  7. I'm sorry you haven't had a reply; a similar thing happened to me yesterday with my Dakota 10- I changed the batteries and there was just one cache showing (a Multi I had found weeks previously 30 miles away).I was on a day out caching , miles from home; Help please! I won't trust my GPS again!
  8. Hi, I'm missing a whole day's field notes (50 caches) when I upload to geocaching.com. The days before and after are showing, so its not the date? They are not showing as found on it either. Its a Dakota 10. Any ideas?
  9. I have that installed but I use other things for paperless Geocaching; what I would like to have for Nokia 5800 was something with a compass to point me the way. Hi I use the nokia 5800 and use the geocaching live software, it works fine and you can change the mode to act like a compass pointing the direction to the swag. I do have unlimited data which helps for downloading the maps etc. Adam Well, we don't need Internet connection to use our GPS units, right? All software I tried so far to Nokia's need an Internet connection (translation: costs money) to fully work. I use Geocache Navigator by Trimble on my Nokia 5800. Its great for paperless caching, but I use it together with my Garmin, which is more accurate under tree cover etc. Navigator does need internet to access the Geocaching site. Sorry, I'm not very techie, but it works for me!
  10. Thanks! I never thought to use this facility like that- I've put ICE(in case of emergency) and my home phone number.
  11. Hi,don't go all techie on me, but I use Geocache Navigator by Trimble on my Nokia and it has a map option (road or aerial) when you get on the cache page?
  12. Mountain Goat; how did you set up your GPS to show cache names rather than GC code please? I have a Garmin etrex legend HCx and can't find it in settings anywhere? (My GPS is very clever but I'm not!)
  13. What kind of gps unit do you have?? In general, make sure your unit is setup for wgs84 as the datum. I'm not sure what the format of the coordinates of the timble look like - can you post those here? I have a Garmin etrex legend HCx (no problem). The application on my phone is the Geocache Navigator by Trimble. The Garmin shows co-ords as on Groundspeak eg Nxx.xx.xxx Exx.xx.xxx but Trimble comes up with Nxx.xx.xx.xx Exx.xx.xx.xx AHA! I've changed Trimble to show degrees and minutes, not seconds- now it looks the same. (Settings/Location Format) Many Thanks!
  14. Please forgive me if this is the wrong place but my problem is transferring co-ords from Trimble(because battery low on phone or for greater accuracy) to my GPS. There's an extra decimal degree(?) and if I leave it off or even round up, I'm still way out?? Greatful any advice for a not-very-techie!
  15. We are very close and do nearly everything together, but I think that if my beloved had refused to allow me to occasionally hike alone or travel alone it is likely that our relationship would have ended long ago. There is something about hiking alone that allows me to relax and think through things with clarity that I don't get from anything else. It has been those times when things were hardest for us that I hiked alone. I always emerged with a new understanding and calm. My calm understanding removed barriers between us. Solo hiking has been a safety valve that reduced the volatility in my relationship and helped me separate the inconsequential from the important. I am not telling you that your relationship should work as mine does. I think we are all best when we choose our own paths. But I do think that the idea of forbidding people to be alone is something that should not be widely promoted. This is such excellent advice! I was trying to figure out how to say be prepared but couldn't make the words come out. You've done far better than I could have. The only thing I would add is to plan trips well-within one's capacity. Solo trips are not the time to challenge one's physical abilities. Carolyn I had the experience of meeting a fellow cacher also collecting clues in a remote graveyard. I knew him by name and he knew me-well-he'd read all my logs. When time came to set off for the cache he found he'd forgotten his GPS so it seemed natural that he come with me.We walked a couple of miles in remote countyside. I had my dog with me but I only belatedly wondered if I was wise. On reflection i should have made some excuse-sometimes in-built politeness is difficult to overcome-but i hope this pre-warns someone else. All was well, and, if he's reading this-it was nice to meet you!
  16. If I understand what you're asking... this thread is NOT saying that you should not use the stanard abbreviations like TNLNSL and TFTC. What it IS asking is that you don't use JUST those. "#5 of 10 for me today. TNLNSL, TFTC" is a boring, self-centered, almost insulting log "What a great day to go caching. You should have seen all the bluebirds! TNLNSL, TFTC" is quite rewarding for a cache owner to receive. i was so glad to find this thread as i worried my anecdotes and adventures i recount were appropriate/boring. Also i enjoy reading the logs on caches i have found in the past and keep on my watchlist-especially as I can't satisfy my addiction to geocacheing at the moment as i have broken my shoulder- i did manage to plant a new cache tho!
  17. Hi, I've got an eTrex Legend, based in the UK; I took it to Australia, just switched on and I was off, so I don't see you'll have any problems! Happy Hunting! H
  18. Yes, I've become an addict to FTF- do you think there should be a FTF button when we log a find so it shows on our list of logs-or would that make our addiction too conspicuous?!
