  1. cache saturation in Greece :tired:

I would like to see it happen, but probably not very soon. The problem is that

that park is ideal for some micros. I will follow the 161m rule, but will play with

my luck and plant them 160m away and see what the approver says :tired:

If cache saturation is not an issue in Greece, then why not find another spot that is far enough away from the virtual? If threre is room, then use it.

  2. When you log your visit there are several possible choices. Two possible choices apply here. One says "Found It" which you use if you did find the cache. The other says "Didn't Find It" which you use when you didn't find the cache. In this case you didn't find the cache so you would use "Didn't Find It".

No need to thank me for the lesson.

  3. But Clayjar doesn't seem to work well in the mountains. Our trails are generally neither asphalt nor well-packed dirt, and you can never ride a bike all the way up. The Clayjar rater gives all these caches uniform 3.5 star , plus-minus a quarter.

Next to parking? A mile away? 8 miles away? Everything is 3.5

100 ft elevation gain? Thousand? 5,000? Everything is 3.5

Trail not cleared of brush? Up to 10 miles, it's still around 3.5

You need 5 minutes to hike? Or 5 hours? Or whole day? Still 3.5

The "can't-ride-a-bike" condition pretty much overrides everything else. But of course if you tuck an ammobox behind a boulder in the brush 30 ft from paved road, and admit that there isn't a trail there, then the rating finally goes up to ****.

The program is flawed. Just stick with the definitions.

  4. I found the Garmin Geko 101 to be a fantastic intro unit. It's very inexpensive and had great accuracy and ease of use. It doesn't have all the fancier features, but it works just fine without them.

The Gecko 101 doesn't have a data cable hookup, so I would avoid that. The 201 does and is a nice little unit, but for a few more bucks you can get the Legend which is a great GPS for the money. I'd agree with those who say the eTrex Legend is an great choice.

  5. A round cylindrical tube was used to hollow out a place in the ground for the holder to be placed in. The holder is similar to, but not exactly, like a sprinkler system would be.

Probably like a carpenter ant bait station. Its a hollow tube with a cap and a pointy end. You don't even have to dig. You can just push it into the ground if its soft enough. You can find it at Home Depot.
