  1. Upgrading to 5.0 did fix the Off Road issue for me (I have a nuvi 260 with the 2x5 interface). Everything is back to normal.
  2. Be careful - read this post before you upgrade http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3846173 If this true, this firmware might render the Nuvi worthless for finding a cache "off road". Somewhere I read that Garmin's response was that the Nuvi is designed as a vehicle navigation device and not for off-road use. BS Edit: Here it is - http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3826758 Looks like this is related to firmware v4.8 Let us know if off-road mode is still disabled in v5.0 Yes I was just going to say that my comment was based on 4.8. I too just read that 5.0 supposedly fixes the Off Road issue. I will be testing that when I get home from work. http://forums.gpsreview.net/viewtopic.php?...88&start=20
  3. I have the same issue after the update. Prior to update "Off Road" worked fine. I have contacted Garmin support and hopefully they'll fix the issue.
  4. jjreds, just wanted to say thank you for the work you've done with all of this. This has made my purchase of a nuvi 260 even more worth it! Everything works great and I couldn't be more happy with the macro. As a note to 2xx users, supposedly the new software update from garmin has disabled the Off Road feature under Route Preference - becareful......hopefully they will restore this for us.

[ soemone will chime in Isn't this wrong (I hope it's right)? Doesn't the Sportrak MAP only have a 2mb basemap to begin with?
  6. I'm glad you said that because the posts that I was reading are very confusing the person refers to the 330 and STM and a couple of times i think he gets them mixeed up. So the STM has a base of 2mb and six more for detail?
  7. Great, i'm reading your FAQ now, thanks for the link. I found about the hack were you replace you basemap with a smaller one to free up more memory for other maps (mapsend topo). Would you recommend this?
  8. 1. What version of firmware to use? I have 4.06 now (i think) 2. What settings will get me the best accuracy? I'm in the north east USA. Thanks for your opinions!
